I'm SO happy to find this on youtube! Like everyone else I had the Frog Song VHS and used to love watching this. I now have young children of my own who love to watch the Frog Song on here, so I thought I'd see if anyone had uploaded Seaside Woman because I wanted my children to see it, and here it is. And they love it too!
I love the song, the vibe, and especially the animation. The song swims around my head every time I cook sweet potatoes :-)
My mum brought me and my brother a video of rupert and the frog song and this was on it!, was awesomely funny..ive been looking for this for so long..all those lovely memories coming back =D
Listen for great music like this on a new radio station called "OffTheCharts" - featuring 70's (and some 80's) lost hits and chart wonders!
Go to Live365.com, type OFFTHECHARTS in the Search box and click on the station logo. The audio stream should begin. Become a VIP member and listen commercial free!
When I was little this was on my Frog Song VHS and it was always so catchy and relaxing to watch. I can't believe we finally found this again with vague memories. Thanks for uploading.
@RoadKill1313 Yeah!!, same here!!! "Rupert and The Frog song" is the main feature but this was one of the bonuses, this was the best of the lot and wasn't even the main feature on the video!!!. There was that "Nightfish" one, don't recall the rest of the title though. There was like three different cartoons on it.
Holy crap this was freaky too! Who else thinks it's racist to depict black people as actually literally zero-light-emitting purest charcoal BLACK!? Not to mention freaky.
@Aquillyne: I don't think it is racist, at all. On the contrary, it makes the video look more fun. Their 'black' color matches with the rest of the colors used in the video. Besides, their eyes are more noticeable that way. I love the gilr's eyes :) they are so cute.
I used to see this video (along with Ruppert's song and that creepy fish thingy) when I was like 3 years old :) *
@celticgirl08 I watched Rupert, Fish and Seaside when I was 3 as well. The first I loved. It was so charming and magical. The second was weird and slightly scary. Seaside Woman freaked me out completely with it's jagged, posterised depiction of reality.
@Tekena1200 What, like blackface gollywogs?! C'mon. It's like depicting Chinese people as bright yellow Simpsons. It's a depiction understood only via racist stereotypes.
@Aquillyne True but my opinion is that it's not really a problem unless it's done in malice. Japanese teenagers love to get these dark tans that some mistake for blackface but it actually some mountain witch thing, so it's only a problem because the accuser thinks it's a problem.
I would be mad as hell if he made us act like idiots and killers, but he actually shows a type of compassion in this video. Plus if you've seen African or Aboriginal artwork you just think it was cute.
@Aquillyne it's not racists - Oscar Grillo the director of the piece was inspired by the artwork of Gauguin and wanted to use as many solid blocks of colour for this short as he could, the characters skin colour [pure black] works within the context of the style the director was going for.
She wrote the middle bit to Live And Let Die Paul just said in an interview. The reggae flavored part. "What does is matter to you when you got a job to do you got to do it well.." She could write but her singing was limited. So kindly srew yourself g6lb. Ed
1967girl. Linda had more live performance experience than most you could mention. The rate those guys toured the world through the 70s, 80s & 90s. It's unfair to say that about her, she was great at harmonising & became a fully professional performer with over 20 years live & studio experience. That's not even to mention her world class photography, animal rights politics & personal bravery.
This was actually the first song Linda ever wrote. This song plus "Oriental Nightfish" is on a cd called "Wild Prairie". Great fun stuff if you love Linda McCartney as much as I do.
OMG!!! What a trip! I got this song on 45 in 1977. At first, I thought it was McCartney and Wings because of Paul's bass and reggae sound like "C Moon." Then I was shocked that it was written by Suzy and The Red Stripes!! Thanks for clearing this up because for 30 years...I have been trying to prove everybody that this was originally written by Paul and Linda. I was RIGHT!!! Yahoo!!
OMG, I thought that was just a random tape my parents made, but it's ACTUALLY at the end of rupert?? I had that as a kid too!! And there's a nekkid woman in it!!
@LyricalLoki Likewise! I thought my mum had just been irresponsible and accidentally strung some 4am broadcast of x-rated acid trip horror shows on the end of my adored Rupert!
@Aquillyne Yeah, wasn't there quite a lot of tape on that VHS that was unused meaning you could easily record other stuff on the tape after the cartoons end?.
In this sad winter, when I think that all I want is a little of sunny I listen this song xD

@celticgirl08 Yeah, it was something like "The Enchanted Nightfish" come to think of it, really odd gothic-like song so I recall.

@Aquillyne Not really, I don't even think it's bad to depict s with giant red lips.
