  • Absolute crap!

  • nu-metal garbage

  • big black's version was but awesome.

this was just good.... but it was good.

  • Christ - how utterly fucking terrible. Hopefully Steve Albini doesn't know about this.

  • way to ruin a great industrial/noise rock classic with this SHITTY nu-metal chug-a-chug "cover".

  • WHAT THE FUCK!!! Some bunch of whining peoples have watched this great video!?

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, THEN GO TO HELL!!! I'm going to be musician some day and i'm going to do exactly same music. Industrial for life and after life.

  • What a buch of fucking wanking.

  • Wow, this totally sucks.

  • this cover is awful. they took the intensity of Big Black and killed by making it into a poppy, mainstream metal cover song. it's like they heard the song once and thought it'd be "really cool" to cover it.

  • @generalbry You're right... it's wowfull ... have they not listened to the lyrics ??

  • A bad cover, by a (what im assuming by this song) bad band

  • In the 80 I walked in a very dark pub. I wore long hair, but the dudes in the pub wore their hear all upward like punks, long or short didn't matter. After 2 songs they played kerosene. They didnt know I liked this song. So I stayed for more. Later I heard the barkeeper played this kind of music to get rid of certain king of folks.

So now I see these long haired metalheads covering a band without even understanding the MEANING of this song.

    You are main stream. Period.

  • This town suckz

    i'm leaving

  • If you are going to cover Big Black it needs to be bigger and blacker. This is neither.

  • This is horrible. Way to ruin a song, and the way they try to mimick albini's guitar style is just pathetic. The word "ersatz" comes to mind

  • Fucking diabolical. They're so coked up and up themselves they don't even realise this song is not supposed to have that smug sheen that comes after that band have covered themselves in their own spunk after a good wank over how fucking great they are.

    Thank fuck they split up.

  • drown 's version is much better.

too bad I can't find anything about DROWN in the youtube :-(

can anyboby put something from them? please?...

  • I agree, Drown's version is much better. I saw them do this tune with Neil from Clutch in Detroit when they toured together in 98.

  • The biggest problem is that Big Black is from midwest USA and they mean it.

  • if ever there was a band not to be covered....

  • This is disre-fucking-spectful to Big Black. Way too many effects and too much bullshit.

  • Fuck all of you shit talkers. Pitchshifter is a great band. The thing missing in the video is that the drums are not properly miced.

  • just because the drums arnt mic'd properly doesnt take away from the fact that they turned it into some gay rap metal song

  • Where's the rap?

  • They are performing the lyrics pretty much as the original was. What the hell is so rap about it.

  • Possibly one of the WORST COVER VERSIONS EVER.

  • i mean, what's up with the wah wah bass sound. if you just plain suck at it you shouldn't cover the song.

  • Cool to see someone covering big black.

But this just sucked, SO BAD. Dear god, one of the worst ones I've seen

  • way to kill a good song....these guys suck balls

  • ibanez rulesss

    pitch ruless

    indus metal ruless

    .... yeahh...

  • this is crap

  • i don't like this, but then again, i don't like pitchshifter. i also think this original was raped (by a nu-metal/wannabe-industrial band)...and if i wanted to listen to industrial i'd rather listen to the old stuff (NON, Einsturzende Neubauten, or SPK)

  • shitty teenie band raping a classic.

  • You clearly don't know anything about Pitchshifter.

  • @melanchronic after watching this I couldn't possibly imagine why anyone would want to either.

  • I like the way they turn a stripped down song into an over egged piece of shit. That's talent folks.

  • Speaking completely objectively, thats a horrible thing to do to this song. Nothing personal against anyone who likes this, but seriously... its not fucking meant to sound like that. There's no way anyone who likes the original could say one remotely good thing about this. Fucking embarrassment.

  • well I dont think it was set out to sound like the originl, what would be the point of that?. me being a shifter fan, i favour this over big black (even though i'm not that fond of this cover!).

  • What's the point in doing a straight cover? Then they'd be accused of ripping off Big Black. It's not like you can lay claim to being a Big Black fan when they were active. You're 21 years old. I'm nearly 27 and I'm not an authority of what should and shouldn't be.

  • I didn't criticise the cover for not being straight. It's just not a good cover. There are great covers that are completely warped and hardly recognisable. This isn't that nor is it an exact replica, it just takes all the best and most creative elements of the original and unwittingly parodies them, to both bands' detriment. It doesn't matter if I wasn't a fan when they existed. If that was a prerequisite for forming an opinion on something, not many people could say much about anything

  • ....im embarrassed for the artist....they fucked up bit time the original would rip the shit out of this 3rd rate attempted cover

  • 18, from Ireland, wants to be a marine. OK.

  • they turned a classic song into a steaming nu metal turd. fuck these guys.

  • Funny, I don't spot a DJ or a white guy rapping badly. Personally as a big black fan I'm glad to see them influence later generation bands so that their fanbase might check out their influences. I see a Dead Kennedy's sticker on the bass, that's another band worth covering & introducing a new generation to. I like this cover and considering it's a live performance it sounds great. But maybe you'd prefer Big Black restricted to your generation, which is about as narrow minded as you can get.

  • i don't necessarily limit the music i enjoy to my specific generation. lets agree to disagree eh? sorry but when my narrow minded ears hear low ended distortion, lame wah wah, natural harmonics, superficial vocals, and some dude go "a special treat for the freaks!" i immediately think linkin bizkits. you have to agree they were following a formula used by many metal bands towards the end of the late 90's. it just kind of sucks that they had to apply this shite to a classic.

  • i miss the "desensitized" vocals

  • Wow, this really blew dog dick.

  • lmao i couldnt agree more mate the whole layout is wrong..the harmonis suck the singer sounds like he has hypothermia and smoke 60 cigarettes a day the guitar player looks like he is having a fit and the rest look like they belong in a fucking old folkes home.... id rather suck a dead dogs tail thatn listen to this

  • God That Was Awful

  • wut?

  • looks to small to be the astoria, LA2 maybe?.

  • Nice! I wasn't aware they ever played this live. One of my favourite Shifter' tunes (& yes i like the original as well!) Nice to see some live stuff with Matt Grundy too. Cheers Deadmmore!

  • how could you forget that KJ???? hahaha

  • Hey man thanks for posting more shifter!

  • I was at this but honestly don't remember them playing Kerosene lol. If it's the gig I'm thinking of, Sona Fariq and Group Dogdrill were supporting.

  • @KJGould It wasn't at the Astoria, it was at the LA2, it was a special show filmed in the afternoon for a Japanese tv station (Fuji tv I think) and there were no supports, it was quite strange coming out of a gig at about 5 in the afternoon.
