@floppsy actually when you hit a jump straight, you have a force that is in the angle of the top of the jump. when you scrub, sliding your tires off the lip takes that force and sends some of it sideways. instead of just having the force going straight, you have some force going straight and some force going sideways allowing you to hit the jump faster and lower.

@monserenergy700r your dumb, seriously? scrubbing is when you lean in the face of the jump causing your wheels to leave the ground before the face is gone...basically eliminating some of the jump keeping lower, yes you can throw the bike sideways and use the momentum of the engine to slow the bike down mid air but thats not scrubbing, and whipping isnt until you leave the jump

Buba is without question a great rider. Possably the best. However he did not really "invent" the scrub. He does it better than anyone and is talented enough to use it more often , BUT, he really didnt invent it. He made us all aware of it because he is so damn good at it. I remember seeing and doing the same basic move back in 1979. It is a natural thing to keep things low as possable and this move does that. Bubba made it popular and obvious because of his talent extreem.
