really nice man- i can tell that with some drums and a live bass you could really kill it. the problem in this recording is that you are comping while playing the melody/solo without anyone backing you up beside the prerecorded occasional bass- without them the fact that you are crazy swinging has to be somewhat imagined by the listern. really great though, really fantastic. love it.
Beautiful rendition of this classic tune. I have multiple versions by the likes of Davis, Evans, Zetterlund, etc - THIS is up there with them man! You're feeling the vibe. And the Les Paul tone is gorgeous too. You remind me of Grant Green a little - laid back, no egotistical fast stuff. Thanks for posting this :)
I had Randy Johnston on my first CD and Royce Campbell on my last... you should be on the next... Sweet tastey sound. You can hear my version on B-3 under my videos...
Very well played Mat, nice and thoughtfull, every note in the right place never overdoing anything, just like a river that flows it's Natural course, great playing greets victor.
Most competent dutch people can speak english pretty well. There aren't that many at the conservatory I attend here in Holland that can't speak it decently.
I'm biased though, I was brought up bilingually =)
Please Matt, could you tell me how you achieve such a clean sound on your 'Youtube'video recordings...I notice that you do not have any extraneous background noise such as hiss etc.Do you record directly into your computer?. I would dearly love to know. Thanks in advance.

How could this ever get a thumbs down? 2 people obviously have no taste in music. Fantastic playing!

Beautiful sound and great melodic interpretation. Looks like an Epiphone Joe Pass guitar.

Whatever instrument Matt Otten uses (Peerless or this or the other) his individual style comes through, and it sounds great!

I don't think it's a Les Paul.

Matt records directly into his computer using Cubase with slightly added reverb.

You rmind me of a friend of mine that played guitar and made guitars twenty years ago. Barker Guitars are are hard to find, but well worth the chase!
