God, they're amazing, and they represent a time when people were accepting of so many different kinds of music in a popular way that just doesn't exist today. They are so different and so true to themselves and are so great because so. I wish I could see them in concert. They never lose any of themselves along the years, they only get better and stay so consistent with the quality of their product, shows, lyrics--just who they are. It would be nice to see the other original bandmates.

@cogdesign, i'm with you. Except for the part about "disappointments". I'm 39 also. DM is and will ALWAYS be my favorite group, no matter what they put out. Can DM EVER be as "good as they were". Most probably NO. But that doesn't mean we love them any less. If we are true fans. I will have DM played at my funeral - 80's, 90's and 2000's stuff!!!! :-)

And BTW, i love the fact that at EVERY concert (i've seen them SEVEN times), they know what we want and they always play their new & old stuff.

@cogdesign My point was that this is not even close to the larger body of their work. I pointed to J.C.G.E. as to say THAT was similar to now...1 good song on an album sparse in quality. At 37, I have watched them change & evolve for the better, and now devolve for the worse. I Enjoyed the 80's, Fanatical for the 90's & early 00's...but hate this one. They seem to have run out of steam. God I hope this is just a dry spell and not an omen of things to come. Praying for a second coming of DM.

The singing is sub-par for Dave, the lyrics are sub par ( excluding Wrong ) & arrangements are non melodic and disconnected. Its reminiscent of folk and rock ramblings, not a very cohesive body of work. Just my opinion. I agree that groups should change, evolve and mature-for the better. They did just that...up until now.
