No timeline for local HD news on XETV. I'm sure they will consider it later. KGTV, KNSD, KSWB, and KUSI have yet to HD. KSWB will be HD for their local news from the get go.
BREAKING NEWS: San Diego 6 will also be the CW affiliate for San Diego. Now the primetime will be solved. I guess they wanted it. I hope they get their HD working. The great thing is that you can watch CW in HD :). This is from Gary Stigall who is the director of engineering so my source was correct. I guess FTVLive was correct.
Thank goodness! I was a little worried about XETV going independent, they deserve The CW. Kind of funny that XETV is gonna air "90210" once again, like they did in the 90s.
Maybe one of the days they will have a movie block. MyNetwork which is fox's 2nd tier station has a movie block on Thursday and Friday I think for primetime.
The King of the Hill, Frasier, that 70s show and the simpsons rerun hours will still stay on San Diego 6. For those people who watch those shows on those time slots will not have to worry. Prime time is a big question. What are they going to show? Who knows? Could be anyones guess but likely syndicated reruns.
Xetv will get good ratings when they switch to HD news and aloha in the morning. Does anybody know if directv will add fox5 and the new cw to SD local channel? I had to switch cause TWCSD SUCKS!! I wish I could get cox. Stupid cable monopolies.
I'm sure they would but it would take a massive network upgrade. They will probably have to give up the Fox splicer which enables HD for them. Fox uses this setup for cost and consistency. I'm sure Directv will get Fox but not CW. CW can be had via KTLA or they may add CW as a Digital Subchannel. KTLA can be had via OTA or Cox. However only northern parts of SD can get it. U-verse may get it. Directv carries XETV so they will probably carry Fox 5 when it starts to broadcast.
If Directv can get XETV and KSWB then they will get the new stations. XETV hasn't planned their hd local news and it won't be for a while. The no HD local news is from XETV themself.
I guess Directv is carrying KSWB-DT on 69 so just turn to that for the HD fox 5. The SD channel is also 69. Directv uses the same number for both SD and HD. For those with HD Directv hardware you might want to map 69 to the HD version so it won't be confusing.
Aloha Taylor may be moving to Fox 5. There are some rumors floating around. They deleted her profile on the fox 6 website. If she goes on Fox 5 then you will be able to see her in HD.
XETV retains all their syndicated programs with or without a network change, it only depends on the contract they have with Twentieth Television to air them in the coming year. Fox Network and Tweentieth Television are two whole different sides in the Media Corp. company.
As for Smackdown and the rest of The CW in San Diego, I think there would be an announcement soon. Doesn't really matter for Smackdown, since it is already planning to move to MyNetworkTV.
Too bad that Tecate Station aka San Diego's my network has no digital equipment. Smackdown can be watched in HD so no HD wrestling for San Diegans :(. Smackdown is awesome on 705 on Time Warner cable. Maybe my network has HD but hasn't forced the stations to implement it.
KTLA may be imported to San Diego if CW doesn't find a new home. KTLA can easily be piped into San Diego cable, SAT, and U-verse systems but they may not show all the KTLA programming due to FCC rules. At one time San Diego cable/SAT customers have to watch LA's UPN affiliate KCOP until XUPN now My network 13 started broadcasting in Tecate Mexico. Hope this helps.
I work for AT&T with U-verse...KTLA will be added on U-Verse in the SD package later this fall. Just got info. It looks like Tribune will pipe KTLA 5 back into SD homes. It's kinda sad about XETV losing Fox, by circumstances so different from when they lost ABC to Ch. 39 in the early '70's. JG
I don't know,I think they are staying Independent, having The CW on their channel would be quite pointless;CW doesn't have the sports or American Idol to match the same intensity as Fox.I remember last week John Coleman was referring it as "The Independent Station" during a newscast;part of the reason why KUSI works so well is because they have more freedom over their own programming, and I think they take pride in that-its their primary identity.
Whatever happens, good luck to XETV,Tribune is making some really big shots at their new relaunch;with good talent and technology to attract a new audience,I'll be viewing them for sure.
As for The CW,I'd have to say '90210' is their last shot for a complete turn-around,the network seems to be banking this one to hit for sure-hype and curiosity are quite high for this show, one of the most talked about new shows for fall 2008.We'll just have to see if viewers will take this in,I think they will.
If KUSI ever gets affiliated again it's probably Fox. There were many rumors of KUSI wanting Fox. Apparently Tribune went it and got it. KUSI could get CW but CW's future looks questionable. CW's ratings isn't doing so hot. There could still be a lawsuit on KSWB by Fox 6. Who knows what could happen. Apparently XETV had bad 10pm news ratings so that could contribute to it. Who Knows.
I know what you mean; I grew up with Fox Kids through the 90s.. Times change I guess. Glad to see that their Morning team will be intact.
The question now is who is gonna get CW programming? I have a tough time picturing KUSI and The CW under the same roof, the station caters to such an older demographic and seem to be very old fashion, and there is nothing wrong with that. XETV would be my pick, the station seems to be up with the times, they would complement The CW better.
omg san diego haves 2 fox stations.

FTVLive says that XETV is getting CW but don't know if it's true.

It's not true now. XETV has decided that they aren't changing to CW. They will go back to being independent.

Maybe they will get CW. Best of luck for XETV. Hope they do well in ratings.

KFSD-TV/DT is still available. KFSD would mean Fox San Diego.
rendezvous65 3 years ago
Will the simpsons, king of the hill, and that 70s show will still be on san diego 6, or will those fox syndicated shows go to KSWB.
And how are smackdown fans going watch if KSWB goes Fox August 1, I guess wait tell October when Mytv13 starts airing it.
