@jaz1966 i see this is from 4 years ago so hopefully u know that the complete series was recently released on dvd. check out amazon, it's like 20 bucks for eight dvds.
The dvd set is out. I got it yesterday and it is awesome. The shows look great and there is a ton of bonus features. Both seasons are included and it can be found online for $19 which is a steal for 56 episodes of this series. Well worth picking up. This is a long lost sitcom gem for sure.
That's great that it's coming out on DVD! I remember watching this as a 4 or 5 year old. That was the early 70s, so it must have already been in re-runs.
I didn't know Deborah Walley died. Must have died young as I was a kid when this show first aired--about 9 or 10 then. When did she die and what of--anybody know?
Thanks. I use to love her. I remember Beach Blanket Bingo with Frankie and Annette and her. Wow!!! Is it just me--or those were the days my friend. RIP Ms. Walley.
@healingbuddy The news of Miss Walley's passing occurred at the time of the September 11, 2001 turmoil and was obviously not given much coverage. Lani O'Grady of Eight is Enough also passed away during that time.
The last time I saw this show was about 7 years ago when it aired on a low frequency independent station based out of Arlington, Va. (D.C. metro area) and they ran it for about 4 months. About 7 months after that, they changed the station to Spanish speaking Telefutura.
Come on Sony Pictures Television (through their acquisition of The Samuel Goldwyn Company)...Release both seasons of The Mothers-in-Law and while you're at it release the rest of the seasons of Hazel and Family! Please!!!!!
Wrong...MGM (not Sony) currently owns this show (The Samuel Goldwyn Company was eventually bought by Orion in 1996); there is a rumored dispute with Desi Arnaz' estate over the series.
I definitely remember this show. It was on Sunday nights on NBC. The last time I saw this show was when the reruns were on Channel 29 in Philadelphia in 1979.
OMG ! This was one of my favorite shows as a kid in the sixties ! Kay Ballard was such a hoot on this show and Eve Arden was fantastic, too.I think Deborah Wally played the daughter.I would like to see an entire episode on YouTube !! This was originally aired at the height of the hippie era and I dig the groovy hip theme music !
@jaz1966 Or you can buy it at Barnes and Noble, that is where I bought the DVDs. :) It's wonderfully funny, your mom will move it.

Unfortunate it would cut off Deborah Walley.

You are correct! The dispute over the Arnaz estate is the very reason this series was pulled from (sparce) syndication decades ago.
I read recently that the series is due out on DVD from MPI later this year. That's great! I loved this show in first run on NBC!
Actionguy1 2 years ago
I have checked MPI's website and there is absolutely no mention that this very funny show will be relased on DVD.
