Who says ONE MAN cannot make a difference? What Bono has done with his life is remarkable...we should all aspire to be a fraction of the person that this man is. God Bless and keep you safe so you can continue on with your humanitarian efforts.
@motherocean24 If you enjoy his music and haven't seen the "Decade of Difference" concert from Oct. 15th, I recommend that you watch it when you get a chance. All of the performers were excellent. I was actually brought to tears just watching this group of people and the audience, knowing that they really do care about helping the poorest of the poor throughout the world. I love them all for all they are doing.
@deecee10000 I've actually watch it TWICE already. Magnificent!! ;~) I adore Bono and Edge...and I really enjoyed the whole concert. The Columbian singer was great too. Nice to see something different. Love that Latin music!
Food may be scarce and foreign investment even more so. It’s what’s known as “Cutting off your nose to spite your face.”
This isn’t lost on educated black South Africans, one of whom David Smith quotes as saying, "Malema for president? Never. I will personally kill him before that happens."
That’s certainly easier said than done. What may be more likely, sadly, is that Malema will kill his nation.
Yet, should Malema’s dark vision become reality, whites won’t be the only victims. When racial hatred drove Mugabe to seize farms from whites — the only ones with experience running them — the unsurprising result was starvation, as Zimbabwe was transformed from breadbasket to economic basket case. And if Malema replicates Daddy Mugabe’s deadly mix of bigotry and neo-bolshevism, South Africa will descend into the same morass.
And if it comes, the media — which seem to have forgotten one of their favorite terms, “hate crime” — will have blood on their hands. As Geller also points out, “The mainstream media portrays all white South Africans as racist monsters like Eugene Terreblanche. This is simply not true. And remember: A key step on the road to genocide is to dehumanize the intended victims.”
Yet there’s no fooling those on the ground. As Pamela Geller at American Thinker writes:
Whites in South Africa are keenly aware of the plans to kill them. They expect mass killings to begin very soon after the death of Mandela, but to tell this to the world is a waste of energy. More than three thousand white farmers have already been murdered, and Genocide Watch lists the Boer farmers in South Africa as victims of genocide — but the media couldn't care less.
As for the ANC government, its response has been an attempt to cover the problem up. It no longer records the races of those who commit murder and their victims, as this had shown that the latter group included a percentage of white South Africans disproportionate enough to attract the attention of GenocideWatch. org. The media also is complicit in the cover-up, as black-on-white crime is just too politically incorrect to touch.
Unfortunately, Malema Version 2010 is no better. He has continued to agitate the masses by singing a song containing the words “kill the Boer” (“Boer” is a Dutch word meaning “farmer,” but it has become a derogatory term for any white South African), even after the nation’s courts ruled it hate speech and the ANC, finally, asked its members to stop singing it.
This is the nightmare future that haunts many South Africans, black and white. They regard Malema as a clown, a loudmouth and a bully. But they increasingly fear that he really could follow Nelson Mandela in going from the African National Congress youth league to president of the republic.
The year is 2019. President Julius Malema thumps his fist on the lectern and roars: "South Africa shall never be a colony again!" He whips up the crowd into a patriotic frenzy with chants about the hated Boers. He promises: "We will drive the white man from the land, we will drive him from the mines, we will drive him from the boardrooms. Africa for the Africans."
While racial strife in South Africa isn’t surprising, the current level of violence is no accident, but the work of a demagogue. His name is Julius Malema.
Leader of the ruling African National Congress’ (ANC’s) Youth Movement, Malema is a black supremacist who aims to follow in the footsteps of Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, who has long been persecuting white farmers in his nation. David Smith at The Guardian reports on the story, presenting a glimpse of a dystopian South African future:
But with the murder of Eugene Terreblanche, leader of the neo-Nazi Afrikaner Resistance Movement (AWB), South Africa is, albeit briefly, back in the news. What the media isn’t reporting, though, is that the killing of Terreblanche has little to do with his unpalatable political views, but is part of a wider pattern of targeting whites — virtually none of whom are supremacists. In fact, thousands of white farmers have already been murdered.
Back in the 1980s, South Africa figured prominently on the West’s radar screen. Protests against apartheid were everywhere; the movement even inspired a song: “Sun City.” With the fall of the apartheid regime in 1994, however, people lost interest in the faraway land.
I have to say, Americans take a lot of granted--I am one of them. People I know personally do not know how hard these people in Africa have it. They don't have what we have--clean food & water, A/C, cars, medicine, all these electronic gadgets and other tech. These people work so hard to raise and support their families and themselves. They're reminiscent of the civilizations of old. And as crystalblueice77 said, we throw away millions of pounds of food because we take it for granted.
those stupid al-shabaabs should see that it is the forenors that care more about the kids than them ...i mean just look at aderson and bono they really care and they are more humans than all of al-shabaab combined wallhi
@Blackhat27I I agree! It is astounding what little it takes 2 turn things around. 1 problem is where is the $ going?
Are the gov.s / corruption taking it? Yes, some r! Money has poured out 2 help with tsunamis n Indonesia &
Japan, earthquakes n Haiti & Japan, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts in the US etc. U have 2 b sure who u give it 2. Investigate & educate yourself 1st if u can't help a person directly. & don't forget Climate Change n Africa is the fake "CIVILIZED WORLD'S FAULT not theirs!
@Squemby Hypocrisy? Its no use arguing with you. You refuse to accept the fact that he's done more good than most of us would ever do in 100 lifetimes. . . because he CAN and because he CHOOSES to do good. I'm sorry that you can't see the good through your eyes or your heart (if you have one).
I don't care what film star is or isn't helping as long as they leverage their publicity for the issue at hand. Can't assume celebrities are smarter or even as smart as we are. I care about whether Somali children get food TODAY. Will deal with the other side issues on an on-going basis later.
and these people are doing nothing about it when they have loaded pockets... like the American liberals that sit on here and whine about discrimination and they do nothing to help them (as a majority)...
yeah because the Native Americans must be loving life, the few that are left...
But thanksgivin's round the corner Amurrca... you can celebrate your genocide then assholes!
@1pennsy Blaming will not help get the necessary food and supplies that are desperately needed at this moment. When something like this happens, human beings must come together, put aside our differences and focus on what is important. This many people and kids dying of starvation is senseless in today's world. Please help educate people you know and encourage others to do the same. We can beat this.
@1pennsy maybe. but why even give a sh** about them. that could be the same for people of any other color responding to the problem of any other country. fake human beings come in all shapes, sizes, colors, wtv. but when a hand is lent to these kids, they don't care what color the hand, just that it's there.
@carolineB514 that doesnt solve the problem of who started the shit in the first place. disease etc. this is just goin to keep happening. yea it makes you feel good to lend a helping hand but it shouldnt have happened in the first place
@1pennsy of course not. but neither is sitting back, watching shit and saying ""they"" started it". it's happened. that can't be undone. its way beyond the "who started it" now. and true it might make some people feel good to help, but a lot of people I know who are physically helping out over there and around the world don't feel much anymore because it's too much to deal with. but yet, they stay, because its not for them. so, ok. white people, or whoever, started it. great, now what?
i want you to now something. I am Somalian i do not blame my problems other people this happen to us because we Somalian cause this problem. we kill our brother and sisters because they are another tribe or they do not believe our religious view.
Bono cares, he always does. He always helps. He is an awesome person. We should live by his example. Very frustrating to not be about to help. We waste so much food , throw so much food away. We are the people that are not thankful, we have to have the best. These babies are dying , crying and starving every day. Think about the next time you throw food away or put a fork in your mouth.
@crystalblueice77 Think about how much waste is included in U2's record tour in the last 2 years. Think about Bono's refusal to pay the tax that allows governments to write of 3rd world debt. Think about the drugs contracts that Bono has won for BigPharma in Africa. Think about the fact that Bono was receiving 5% of the Red credit card that was set up to fund AIDS in Africa. Think about the fact that Bono is profiting from disease and poverty the next time you open your mouth.
@Squemby Really? And how many lives have YOU saved? How many starving kids and families have you helped to feed? How many lives have you saved by helping to provide them with the medicines, food and water needed to survive and live? The bottom line is this: Bono has done MUCH more than most human beings to help people most in need in this family we call humanity. Bono was already rich to begin with; how many rich folks go out of their way to do what he does for the poor?
@jesshearn The reason your previous comments were removed is because you were doing nothing more than talking trash about a man who is trying to help get food to starving people before they die of hunger. You were not satisfied with posting up one or two of your disgusting comments but filled up an entire page with your displaced hatred. To me, feeding half a million starving kids is MUCH more important than your selfish rants. Continue trying to hinder charity & I will delete your comments.
@Squemby I understand what u r saying. Paul Hewson (Bono Vox) & Anderson Cooper can get things done. If they didn't have the world's recognition there's people that wouldn't help. I'm here because I was sent a message from ONE.org. I have been n this org for years. Money is being sent in RIGHT NOW! And these 2 men r trying to reach more people. Malema has praised Zimbabwe's murderous seizure of white-owned farms as "courageous and militant." White South Africans know what's coming.
