I work at the old ASO in the -53 IWST and have a good pile of Delta items (like the tail rotor head and EAPS vaneaxial fan I saw being maintained at the beginning of this video) ...even though these videos are a few years old it's great to see the old platform still flying missions, even in the face of spare parts availability issues and aging airframes. Thanks for all you guys doing all the dirty work out there in the sand! Go Delta ('til the sundown in a couple years).
@macrosaur I had to catch my breath for a second when we were told that the 53D would be gone by 2012 accorfing to the new USMC Aviation Plan. I have only been working on these for 5 years, but they have left their mark on me.
@TitoBandito1 Its amazing to here how they used to fly at 160 knots... We tried to get you guys the 53E blades and a few other upgrades for envelope re-expansion, but it was too little too late... Its too bad too, Germany and Isreal are planning for another 10+ years of life out of theirs with updated wiring, avionics and autopilot... I just don't see the V-22 being able to fill the same mission with the same workload the 53D has been able to.

I served in HMH 362, 462 and 461 from 1971 to 1980. This vid brought back those times. Prabably some of the old D models I crewed. Good work.
