  • Midnight Flyer?

  • Luv iT .

  • from 4:20 on incredible...

  • I went to this show with one of my closest friends, who was a guitarist in a band with me, and we were blown away. It was awesome!

  • Well what'd did they expect from a guy that plays with OZZY??? :-D

  • "Spinal Tap Rulez"...sometimes.

  • zakk is the man... ive been jammin to rocknroll for for 35 yrs makes me wonder what Randy coulda done... zakk is his own man and i love him for it!

  • I remember all the controversy at that time. Thanks Zakk!

  • I talked with Allen Woody about this show. I was at this show as well. Woody said that Zakk was a great player. He just did not fit in very well. I think that he was really great at this show they should have given him another shot. I later saw the Allmans with David Grissom and would love to hear some of that as well.

  • @Spaceman1968 i read in an interview with zakk that when they called him up, it was a one time thing only, he was only to fill in for this show cuz they already had another guitarist arranged to fill in for the other ones, and he said he loved it and was an honor to play with the allmans cuz he is a huge fan.... i think zakk is a really good player, i don't like his electric tone very much, but if you listen to his acoustic playing he is awesome, and you can hear alot of allman's influence to it

  • amazing! incredible!this is really something. what it is , i don't know. he really proves he can jam. jam as many fucking notes in, every possible chance he gets. he's obviously one of those cliches who's out to prove they are the fastest, best guitarists there is.relentlessly. cheese on cheese with more cheese. this is almost sacrilegious to me. i wonder why they fired him? if he stays away from any legit music, he,ll be ok. i think he would be much better with puff daddy.

  • Pretty much the shittiest version of a great song I've ever heard. Of course, Wylde can't do anything other than squeal, squawk and play metal. He actually did a half-way decent first part of the solo - only to destroy it at the end. Warren - well - this was his problem back then. He'd get too excited. Add to the pressure of (I reckon) wanting to keep up with Zakk, he over does HIS fucking solo and goes too nuts. Warren's so much more controlled and better nowadays.

  • @CashWatkins so he put his own spin on it so what thats a good thing... and you say zakk cant do anything but squeal well thats just not true, maybe zakk isnt your favorite style of guitarist but hes a great guitarist with much skill and knowledge and youd be a fool to dispute that

  • @stonedeafforever88 Where did I ever dispute that? Where did I say I didn't like Zakk. Actually, I do like some of his work, I'm just saying that I'm disappointed that he didn't have the self-control to play what fit.

  • @CashWatkins and one mopre thing... the day gregg allman asks you to fill in for dickie betts is the day you can talk shit.. until then sit down and take notes son

  • @stonedeafforever88 What makes you so sure I haven't played with Gregg Allman, son?

  • @CashWatkins and if you have then ill take it back and good for you that would be awesome i just have a feeling you arent in zakks level

  • @stonedeafforever88 Never claimed to be on his level. However, I do think that there are a lot of guitar players who could match Wylde - yet make the proper adjustments for a situation like this. I've heard some other songs from this show. Not too hard to figure out why the ABB didn't invite him back...

  • @CashWatkins well i respect your opinion,, you didnt like it but theres obviously a lot of people that did . so everybody is entitled to an opinion just dont bad mouth him just because you dont like it, thats all im sayin much love brother

  • so it wasnt perfect but the soul was behind it man, something u know nothing of,lets remember it wasnt his band and its not like he sat around practicing with em,but he stood up and made sure the show would go on,,,now ive seen this guy live with his band,i am telling you the man is a machine, but hey buddy how about not being a hypocrite

  • @manthisshitsgotlegs everybody knows, the chorus pedal filters out all of the soul.

  • @manthisshitsgotlegs The man is a machine. That's the problem.

  • Only God know how much I love Zakk's music, but I think he is not the man to play with Allman Brothers, and guys, please don't act like a bunch of kids, do you really feel Zakk playing something like Midnight Rider or a song like Stillborn?

  • Comment removed

  • I enjoyed some of the sections of his playing ... but definitely over the top for Allman Bros style. Maybe he'd be more subdued in a 2023 reunion with the band. :) He's an excellent guitar player though.

  • Fuck anyone who doesn't at least feel this. Zakk comes into a totally different situation with little to no prep time and totally off the cuff manages to play some tasty-ass shit. Is his tone a little too metally for ABB? Yup. Did he have to shred at the end? Nope. Does Zakk play dynamically with the rest of the band? Not really. Doesn't matter though because the essence of the Allmans was always pushing yourself to your limits through jamming.

I'm not even a Zakk Wylde fan and this was sick

  • @mikelb77

Dude...you must be joking...Zakk had his whole life to prep for this gig...he sucks. Two thumbs down.

  • @mikelb77 well said man of many words

  • This really sucks......the Brothers must have been really drunk to think that letting Zakk sit in was a good idea..... his guitar sounds like a damn chainsaw....wyldely inappropriate (pun intended)...Thank god Warren salvages the 2nd half of the song.

  • @duspet well u cant even afford one of zakks guitars so get off his balls bitch

  • @manthisshitsgotlegs

Actually, I can afford one of his guitars, but I would send the money to kids in Africa before buying something that he would get a royalty of. You are either a fourteen year old jack off or you are tone deaf if you think that anything he played in that song was appropriate. Yes, Zakk is good. No, he was a poor choice to play in the ABB. Obviously, because they only let him play two or three gigs before he started spitting beer on people.

  • @duspet he was probably spittin beer on douchebags like u,,,that think there better than everyone but in fact are just mad cause they was the only one in catholic school that didnt get raped and feels left out

  • @manthisshitsgotlegs

Yeah, you got me. I'm a douche. Please call me names because I have an opinion about something you don't agree with. I guess you really are a 14 year old. When you grow up and study music a little more, you will have a better understanding of tone, timing, and note selection. Maybe then you will understand my opinion. If you like the way Zakk plays, that's great. But, I have never read a single interview or review of the shows he played that were positive of is playing.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this, dude!

It would be really amazing to listen to the whole show!

    Music from the heart!

  • Man if you could upload the whole show please do man, I would be forever thankful, The Allman Brothers are one of my biggest influences, and Zakk Wylde's one of my Biggest Influences, and I've been tryin to get my hands on this for a while now man, so thank you very much bro, Getcha Pull, SDMF

  • Boy does this put a smile on my face LOL. I can just see Greg thinking "Wtf was I thinking when I put him up there" But the crowd was really digging it oviously and it's an excellent recording too. :-DDD

  • I saw the Brothers the next night. I was so pissed I missed Zakk ,I got David Grissom.

  • best band ,best player

  • i read in a allman Brothers called midnight rider that actually dickey was in jail that night and they got a hold of zakk and he ended up tourin with them til dickey came back

  • @leftydrummer21 No , I was at the next show and David Grissom was sitting in.

  • Reportedly Gregg asked Zakk if he knew Dreams, and he jokingly said something like,"You mean that old Molly Hatchet song?"

  • I still have the (favorable) Steve Morse - Boston Globe review which I have posted on the Allman Brothers site a while back. You always hear negative comments about this show, but he and they pulled it off in my opinion and the people there seemed quite astonished and entertained. He was a little out of control, but you had to dig his enthusiasm. He was obviously psyched to be there, playing with a band he looks up to.

  • this rocks ...some killer shiit...I sure enjoyed it....peace

  • @AndreasBusshart Thanks bro i will be posting the entire show sooner or later in segements

  • I was there, and it was a fun show. Zakk was out of control. I had never seen or really hears of him before (not too into Ozzy) but it was crazy. Thanks for posting this.
