Gameplay seems far too perfect to be what a real player is capable of. Seems like a Tool Assisted playthrough. I know for a fact that emulators can allow you to play in slow-motion, giving you far more time to react perfectly & anticipate enemy movements. Best I can get is around 300-320 in Area 6 & a grand total barely over 1500. 1500 kills is a tough enough challenge for a normal player.
@animebryan The high scoring standards for this game are insane, to the point where anything somewhat near the world records will look tool-assisted. This was done on a real N64 (you can tell by the graphics) with no tool assistance or turbo controllers.
@animebryan this is not fake i remember back in the day when i discovered the light spawn trick i played star fox over and over and over mastering it to get my best score i was in the 600+ hits on this stage as well. i used to hate when my teamates killed an enemy thats one less hit for me.

@decimalcat There are high score videos all over youtube, but (aside from my channel) you should look at zallard1, voltro, Saboteurr, AllanMathias, taz0604, DarkPlayer1988, and probably a lot of their subscriptions for videos that will teach you better strategies for most of the levels.

I used to be pretty damn good at this game myself, but I have to defer to whoever played this - if it is indeed real and not tool assisted like you say, my hats off to you. But I am surprised... several times on my old N64 console, on Area 6, the game would hit 511 on the score and stop no matter how many more enemies you destroyed. I think I have video proof of this. Just my console or just my cartridge? Couldn't tell you because I don't own either anymore..I'll look for the vid and upload it.
@decimalcat yeah, that's an issue in all pal versions of the game (and several ntsc versions); it has a score cap at 511 to prevent a rankings glitch from occuring.
Addendum to last post, memory flash - I do recall that I did exploit a bug in the game, but it was a very obvious one and could be argued it wasn't a bug. If you charged the laser and hit something next to an enemy without getting a lock, you'd score a hit+1 even though you only killed one enemy. It was very difficult to do.
You know what would have been awesome? If the boss's giant beam would have hit directly into the rest of the Venom Air Defense Fleet and Caiman going "AAAAAH" last resort attack gone wrong!
I'd like to see someone get a higher score than 227 in Venom...I remember when I was shooting at Star Wolf (right when they were flying in) I managed to get HIT+1 on one of them...lol.

@decimalcat There are high score videos all over youtube, but (aside from my channel) you should look at zallard1, voltro, Saboteurr, AllanMathias, taz0604, DarkPlayer1988, and probably a lot of their subscriptions for videos that will teach you better strategies for most of the levels.

@decimalcat how about the 3ds i already have one and it has a online mode included but it isnt out for another 2 months im planning to practice on an emulator ( ps if your wondering why i have been brought to this game is the fact that i played the original star wing on my snes it was fun i have to admit)

I used to be pretty damn good at this game myself, but I have to defer to whoever played this - if it is indeed real and not tool assisted like you say, my hats off to you. But I am surprised... several times on my old N64 console, on Area 6, the game would hit 511 on the score and stop no matter how many more enemies you destroyed. I think I have video proof of this. Just my console or just my cartridge? Couldn't tell you because I don't own either anymore..I'll look for the vid and upload it.

@decimalcat yeah, that's an issue in all pal versions of the game (and several ntsc versions); it has a score cap at 511 to prevent a rankings glitch from occuring.

Addendum to last post, memory flash - I do recall that I did exploit a bug in the game, but it was a very obvious one and could be argued it wasn't a bug. If you charged the laser and hit something next to an enemy without getting a lock, you'd score a hit+1 even though you only killed one enemy. It was very difficult to do.

You know what would have been awesome? If the boss's giant beam would have hit directly into the rest of the Venom Air Defense Fleet and Caiman going "AAAAAH" last resort attack gone wrong!

I'd like to see someone get a higher score than 227 in Venom...I remember when I was shooting at Star Wolf (right when they were flying in) I managed to get HIT+1 on one of them...lol.
