  • obviously 5 people do not have ears, and were thus disappointed by the odd choreography.

  • White people got no bidness singing this.

  • @Lassannn Why not? A couple of white guys wrote it! You need to broaden your musical outlook.

  • man their choreography is amazing...its not hard to do all the moves while singing but it is very difficult to have everyone do it at the same time...from a barbershoper to another great job guys and congrats on the gold medal!!!

  • I certainly keep returning to it!

  • And Shawn at 2:08! :0

  • Cory at 1:40?

  • @Tricheystudios yep :)

  • This is really amazing. Usually in a barbershop chorus theres one over-powering section, but the westminster Chorus.....their blend is unbelievably good. All of their sections "have the same voice" (if you understand what im talking about: same intensity, volume, and energy) I didn't hear one flaw in this video.

I think they are better than the Ambassadors of Harmony. Well thats just my opinion.

  • they got a great voice when singing "listen to the clarinet"

  • Don't you just love them-so bright!

  • I blew my knee out...can't sing barbershop anymore. Just kidding! I never could sing it. But, even having grown up listening to the Ambassadors, I can say bravo! Wow! Well done!

  • Loved the 'see-saw' affect around 2:48! I try and show clips like this to my kids in school to show them what they can accomplish as a unified group when they are singing.

I miss singing barbershop! I love watching these choruses!

  • Great job!! Only thing I didn't like was at 2:29, a tenor is flat and sticks out. Everything else was flawless!

  • You will have to forgive me on this one, you guys sound wonderful, but I do not believe that any chorus that restricts its membership by age or any other factor should be able to compete in the standard district competitions. Let us not forget what Barbershopping is all about and why we love it so much. I think it is outstanding, the achievements you guys have made, just don't think it fits the SPEBSQA image.

  • @KiltedNerd I think you may have heard a rumor of how things are run in Westminster. That's not surprising considering how wide-spread the rumor has become. Yeah, we may have a particular demographic, but no one has ever been turned away due to age in my tenure as President or Director. No where in our by-laws is there anything written about an age restriction. If you want to discuss it more, I'm more than willing. We always try to do what is best for the BHS aka SPEBSQSA.

  • @jmiller823 please let me apologize, I usually don't base opinions on hearsay, but that on top of seeing all the young faces spurred me to believe it was true.... Again, I apologize and wish you guys the best, your sound is incredible. I come from a chapter with about 20 active members and we are struggling to get the younger crowd interested. Best of luck...

  • @jmiller823 than what is the rule? I only see young people in the quartet. Im never been in a chorus so plz dont get mad i just want to figure this out for myself.

  • @ChrisisBass13 Sure, Westminster was started for young guys, but there is no written rule requiring anyone to be a certain age. Because our members happen to be a certain age, we attract new members of that same age.

  • why exactly would anyone NOT like this?? if you "thumbs-down"ed this, please say why?

  • Wow. What a post on that final tag, almost 30 seconds long!

  • ambiance

  • how they didn't get gold the year they performed this, I'll never know

  • Amazing! I am currently considering this arrangement for my chorus. When I discovered this video, I became even more excited.

  • Jesus Christ these guys are amazing. The backflips and juggling were a little over the top though in my opinion.

  • From the clap at 2:45 through the end is nothing but goosebumps!

  • listen to that crowd!

  • I NEED to see the first place chorus video from 06. Please, someone.

  • the first place chorus was the vocal majority which westminter lost to a very close score where they will go neck and neck this summer to see who is better only because the ambassadors of harmony beet the vocal majority this year and they have not lost in thirty years and they are back for revenge against them gonna be awsome

  • Despite an amazing performance by the Ambassadors of Harmony earlier this year, this is old one is still the best vocal performance by any barbershop chorus on YouTube - by far!

  • my music teacher played in this hes so lucky

  • Just learned that they won the "Choir of the World" at the Welsh Eisteddfod this year. That's about as good as it gets!

  • Crikey! Have you got a clip of the gold medallists for heavens's sake!

  • Impresionante ! Realmente me ENCANTO. Ojalá alguna vez tenga la oportunidad de escucharlos y verlos personalmente.

  • We use this video as a coaching tool for vowel placement and individual SP

  • i am still amazed that they didnt win the comp. that year... :/ gosh

  • wow this is outstanding - the chords, oh mann

  • That's one of the finest performances you'll ever see hands down

  • does anyone else watch this every day, ten times a day?

  • ...you caught me :(

  • Yes! haha

  • i do

  • this video is my morning coffee, I can´t start my day without it XD

  • @signmypoodle Yes. Sometimes more. Lawl. Does anybody know like a freaking college of barbershop? That's in session 19 hours a day? Everyday?! Because I eat this stuff like effing candy. Oh my goodness.

  • @signmypoodle i listen to this on my iPod at least 30 times a day!!!!

  • @signmypoodle Yes!!!! In Seventh heaven.

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Freaking fantastic, all i can say is WOW & GOOSEBUMPS!!!!! see you guys over here in just over a week whoop!!! :) xx

  • sweet overtone!!!!! :20-:25

  • why does this only have 40k views!!!!!!!!! this needs to be what barbershopers listen to!!!!!! amazing tuning and perfect movement. a great all around performance. more ppl need to see this

  • i agree. it makes me sick to think that avril lavigne's monotonous "girlfriend" has 2,500 times as many views as this...

  • agreed

  • I'm surprised it has even 40k views. Most barbershop videos have anywhere from 25-10,000 views total. Very few have more than that.

  • 1:11 ...nice F# from the basses...

  • The name's Ferguson.

    Royce Ferguson.

  • Spotted Sean Devine at 2:03 center of the screen... fantastic version of this classic barbershopsong!

  • best musical performers ever :) no exception

btw - tommybg2003, lol you noob!

  • I always considered Royce Ferguson a genius. I was dismayed to find that he no longer is the director. He deserved all the accolades for his ability to bring these kids to this level.

  • i honestly think that this performance was the best performance that year (and for the last 10 years at least.) their gold winning performance was flashier, but some of the vocal intricacies were lost. This is magnificent.

  • Incredible! Fantastic! What a performance. Congratulations

  • when you guys want to come to pa let me know because i will be waiting, awsome preformance and a fantastic director. i will see you at the philedelphia international convention in 2010

  • .....woah

  • if these are silver medalit imagine the gold medalist wow

  • you would actually probably be dissappointed haha.

  • haha true, but they came back and won gold the following year...eventually they got credit hah

  • omg i wish i was a part of that!

  • was that a pure overtone on the last chord or did they have a few tenors singing that note?

  • its Westminster Chorus, of course its an overtone. haha.

  • lol

  • i agree, overtone

  • These guys give me a lump in my pants.

  • That stomp they do at the end gives me chills. So epic haha

  • i loved it!

  • Wow, that was good. I was raised on SPEBSQSA. My grandfather was a charter member of The Dapper Dans of Harmony,Livingston, NJ, two times International Champs. This brought back a lot of fond memories. Thanks for the post. I love it.

  • They shouldn't have had the guy do the backflips. He made too much noise. I knew a guy once who sang barbershop. He said when they hit the notes perfectly, the whole stage vibrates.

  • hey. I think his backflips were actually designed to enhance the rhythmic flow, if you listen carefully, it actually accentuates certain beats, giving a unique rhythmic effect.

  • WestminsterTastic!

  • That gave me a massive stiffy

  • 1:37 is the shiz

  • Congratulations, New Westminster Chorus, 2007 INTERNATIONAL CHORUS CHAMPIONS!!!

  • Niiicccce... I haven't seen this one before. Awesome diction. Love the ending.

  • Non-Barbershop Style chord progression at :13 thru :19. It is not characteristic of the Barbershop style.

  • what's wrong with it? the chords on "hey there ain't it" are all barbershop 7ths, "grand" is just a minor triad, and the bari move was intended to be a passing tone up to the 7th of what wouldve been another barbershop 7th, but whoever arranged this intro played a fun little trick and turned it into a major triad.

  • shux!!cnt wait to see these guys next year in danver-we're competing against them-but i reckon they'll sass us lol.dayemmn what a nice sound!!these guys are awesome

  • soooo sooo soo soo soo soo soo good absolutely love it

  • Westminster will take it next year...

They sound just like a quartet..a 40 some odd sized Quartet, and that's the idealistic sound. I can't see why they didn't win, and I can't see why they won't next year.

  • I love these guys. My friend of mine is actually in this group. They are absolutely fantastic!!

  • wow. new tag? i guess a more modern tag suits a more modern chorus. awesome. bravo!

  • A fantastic chorus, and it just so happens one of my favourite quartets, OC Times, are in this chorus. I love the VM, but I think these guys are gonna win it next year. Look out, Clancy, here they come!

  • I love this rendidtion! Its one of my favourites!!! EXCELLENT!!!!

  • wow, that chorus is untouchable

  • The REAL 2006 International Champions. They'll just pick up their gold medals next year.

  • Very glad you posted this video. There the best.

  • I was there!!! My group went right before them. We didn't stand a chance. The place went CRAZY for these guys. Wonderful show.
