  • Cool commercial, awful car

  • I remember the very first time I visited America my Aunts next door neighbour had a Ford Tempo and I remember thinking that it looked like an escort from back home with a trunk and I was surprised how dated it looked then I saw buick and oldmobiles and I thought they were from the 50's but they were current models, I was shocked. but remember seeing a Chrysler New Yorker and thinking although it looked almost antique it did look elegant

  • Hell Id drive it hahahahaha

  • I had 1 of these. Not bad 4 a first car.

  • the transmission on the 1984-1987 (Sedan) 1984-1994 (Coupe) Ford Tempo

    Transmission

    4-speed IB4 manual

    5-speed MTX-III manual

    3-speed ATX/FLC automatic

  • If you db's would do your research before shitting out of your mouths you'd know that Ford actually had the best quality of the big 3 in the 80's

  • Seeing it being driven on the racetrack and passing the big rig really makes me a true believer.

  • My grandma had one of these, then passed it to my grandpa because it couldn't "pull" going up a hill lol.

  • ppl can abuse this car all they want..and maybe it was no mechanical marvel ,,and i dont remember what years they were but you could get all wheel drive in some of them..how many hondas or toyotas had all wheel drive back then..???..they also offered a diesel ..they werent all that bad of a car..

  • My mom gave me hers. It was the biggest piece of crap I had ever owned.

  • the 1984-1987 Ford Tempo Sedan was assembled in

    Claycomo, Missouri, United States

    Oakville, Ontario, Canada

  • Everyone loves to bash Ford for this car...Think about it, in 1984 what American car was actually GOOD??? Not many.

  • many were Good.....GM Had Great cars...Chrysler had some good stuff to...Mainly Just ford dishing out the Junk

  • My dad and mom bought one of these brand new in 1984! It was pretty but it blew up on the way home ...took it back to the ford place .....the ford place couldnt fix it..so they gave them another car and it wasnt no good...me and my dad fixed it many times cause transmission fell out all the time...We jacked it up one day and the front fender fell off...we still laugh over it now! funny memories about it!!! Gets good gas milage when it runs. We were at the library more than we were on the road..

  • So It Blew up on the way Home? Seruosley? What ford car did you guys get after the tempo in 1984??

  • A combustion engine? STOP THE PRESSES!

  • emotions = capitalism.

  • Used to own the 93 model didnt really give me that much problems. but damn they dont have this much enthusiasm for car commercials today lol

  • I knew some who had EXACTLY one! 84 Tempo. He says it was the biggest piece of shit he ever owned. Nothing but problems. Trans died at 40k miles and the works. Then he basically gave away that junk when he traded for a Honda civic 1991

  • peace of dog shit but every but build bad car.but at the time it was pretty good

  • Best built, they say. But if what people say about Tempo are true... they used banana peels to do so.

  • "High Swirl" combustion engine? That's priceless.

  • cute @ 0:02

  • I highly doubt its highly aerodynamic or whatever

  • ford backwards is Driver Returns On Foot

  • Very cool. Only the 84 model in the USA was not fuel injected. 85-86-87 were throttle body and 88-up went multiport. I have loved these cars since my parents bought one new in 87. Funny because it was the best out of eveything in that price range that year. Its was an 87 LX 5speed driftwood metallic clearcoat. got mid 30's MPG and had decent power. I have an AWD and a 92 V6 GLS now and LOVE them... Sorry people but you cannot compare them to a mustang, compare them to other 87's. Corsica's eww

  • @hotamber22 corsica`s kicked the tempo`s ass!

  • @ TheTarrMan...I worked at 2 Ford dealers between 1983-2006. Yeah the Tempo was not one of Ford's best ideas. But in the 80s Ford introduced the Escort, Tempo and Taurus. They replaced the Pinto, Fairmont, Granada. Now those were some real disasters. And how about the Mustang II?

What I never understood is why Ford made drastic improvements on the Tempo, Taurus and Escort throughout the 1990s, and then dropped them. Yet they can't make the Thunderbird stay away.

  • @rtwice93555 Tempo was the last bad ford.

  • @whattheheck1000 nah the taurus

  • @gokartbuyer Taurus was a great groundbreaking car. The Tempo was a Piece of Junk.

  • @whattheheck1000 are you kidding they were ugly as fuck! and the altenators were shit to say the least!

  • @gokartbuyer Well the 1984-1987 were junk anyway

  • 1986-87 models weren't Junk!

  • @jakesaintsrow123 My mom's first car was a 1987 that broke down after four years and maybe 50000 miles. Maybe they had hit or miss build quality.

  • Fairmonts and Granada's were Good cars...They Had the 3.3l straight 6...Great Motors! Later Model tempo's were defenetley better ....

  • Those thing were always a piece of sh**!!!

  • @TheTarrMan tempo is short for temporarily so the car was cursed from the beginning

  • @gokartbuyer it's short for temporarily out of service... again.......... lol

  • @TheTarrMan yep Fucks Over Retarted Drives,ford.

  • @gokartbuyer Fucked Over Repaired Dishwasher = Ford

  • You my friend are an IDIOT! enough said....

  • @hotamber22 lol

  • @TheTarrMan no its Fucked Over Rebuilt Dodge.

  • @CamaroAmx lol

  • @TheTarrMan my mom had an '85. It was in an accident 2 days after we bought it, and a week after that the clock went out and the trunk lock popped out. What a POS.

  • Where did it Get Hit? was it Bad?

  • Nope sorry they weren't! these were decent cars! but they did get better as time went on! ...1986-94...especially since the 1986-up models had fuel injection standered the 84-85,s were carburated! ..these older ones were decent economy cars! NOT piece,s of shit!

  • @jakesaintsrow123 As someone the worked, and helped worked on a lot of different cars, take it from me. Those things were lemons right off the assembly line.

  • everybody has had a different experience of different cars! and NO these weren't ! yes the 1984-85 models had some bugs and glitches to be worked out but the later models were Unkillable and Great cars! 88-94 models! ..still the 84-85,s were decent enough cars! the later models were better and had less gltiches and bugs! thats how it is with allot of economy cars! they start out not so well with glitches and problems and such but they get better! thats how it was here!

  • these had some problems but were Lemons off of the assembly Line! i have owned many cars and worked on many from this Era! this was my favorite Era for cars! i have been around them for years! these had glitches and such to be fixed but they were decent enough cars!! the one problem i saw in the 84-85,s were the carter electronically controlled 1 barrel carburetors! those carbs sucked! these were Decent enough cars though within there first 2 years! ...any how i Rest my case on 84 ford tempos!

  • Did you work for Ford in 84?

  • @jakesaintsrow123 no, but my dad had one when I was a kid, it was in "good shape" and still bad.

  • Oh Yeah...was it a 1984 Model? what Kind of Problems? By any chance any carb Problems? Rear Suspension Problems?

  • @jakesaintsrow123 It had a problem with the fuel injection system and it had problems with the transmission. really odd for something with a complete service history and only around 80,000 on the clock. Also it was a rust bucket underneath ( just about a 15 year car at the time). towards the end of it's life (around 120,000) it was going through oil like it was going through gas. Also me and my dad (we would work on it ourselves) would see, just STUPID engineering)

  • @TheTarrMan ur more a piece of shit

  • @sproutkitty lol

  • ahhh yes ford in the 80's

    Fix Or Repair Daily

    Found On Roadside Dead

  • i wanted to to stop dead at the top of the O and just fall upside down to the ground and see it burst into flames

  • My very first car I bought at age 15 couldn't drive until six months after I bought it!! That freaking car lasted 4ever!!! I LOVED MY RED TEMPO!!!

  • Was it a 1984 Or 85 Model?

  • I drive a 92 tempo

  • in Germany Tempo is a handkerchief

  • My mom bought a brand-new '84 Tempo: it was a white coupe with medium blue interior & the same alloy wheels as the car in this ad.

  • was it any good???? does she stil have it 25 years later??? i loved these they were great cars in my opion

  • 2 mechanics on several different occasions couldn't fix a chronic engine oil leak that developed after we had the car for a year, so mom gave up & traded it for an '86 Honda Accord. Otherwise she liked the Tempo & probably would have kept it for a few more years were it not for the oil problem.

  • oh that sucks....yes these 1984-1985 tempo,s and topazs had oil leak problems same with the 1985 full size crown vic/mercury grand marquis i have a 1986 crown vic and it dosent leak any oil as far as i know but yes these first gen tempos had problems with oil leaks so its not a first when you said your moms leaked oil....if i were her i would of kept it.. personally i loved the 1984 tempo allot more then the 86 accord but both were great but i liked the tempo more but thats just me

  • thanks so much for this commercial i love this car and would love to own one 5/5 stars

  • @jakesaintsrow123

    WHAAAAAAAAAAT?

  • what do you mean WHAAAAAAAAAT?? yes thats right i do really like the 1984 ford tempo and mercury topaz i also liked all the other years for tempo and topaz's to 1986-1994..94 was the last year for the tempo/topaz ..i own a 92 mercury topaz myself but i would love to also own a first generation 1984 or 1985 mercury topaz or ford tempo
