I'm not sure if my video response went thru...seems my older videos don't go back far enough to "use selected video"...I tried to paste it.
One tip I think might help you is... try NOT looking back at your fingers when your reading the music, have faith in your fingering and your "mind's eye" ...it will help keep it smooth. I like your rendition. Post more of Jason's tunes...I love'em. I have all 20 songs from "Vol One" book posted and a couple from vol 2.
@van1976 Thanks for your comment, Van. You're probably right about not looking back at the fingers, but
most of my videos are done at a "practice level" I guess, and at my age, I'm happy if the piece sounds right to me - I'm not a performer - just a happy amateur. I'm happy if I hit the right notes and if the final result sounds good. That's what's most important to me. But thanks for the tip.
@philipglaser Hello Philip...Some guitar teachers in the past told me (I did the same thing--watching my fingers) about not watching my fingers when reading music, they told me it's a bad habit, so I'm just passing that "guitar tip" on. I know how hard guitar playing can be, so not watching your fingers makes it easier--really. Keep up the good work and have FUN.
@van1976 Thanks again, Van. I'm 73,and plan to have fun with the guitar the rest of my life - for sure. I do have nice looking fingers, and it's hard to keep my eyes off of them. (Just kidding.)j
@reprac9 You here too Dave--ha ha. Someone had commented on my video version and I saw this (Phil) link so here I am and I saw your comment..."tis a small world.
Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me, Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee; Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day, Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away! Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song, List while I woo thee with soft melody; Gone are the cares of life's busy throng, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Poignant lyrics for this lovely tune. (Is the dreamer asleep, or is she beyond sleep?) Nicely played, Phil. All the best from Pittsburgh, as always! Paul
@philipglaser Nice job. Someday, maybe soon, I'll post MY "Chet Atkins" version - it's in the key of A major. If it sounds half - nooo - a quarter as good as yours I'll be happy.
@philipglaser There's another verse as wellBeautiful dreamer, out on the sea, Mermaids are chaunting the wild lorelie; Over the streamlet vapors are borne, Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn. Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart, E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea; Then will all clouds of sorrow depart, Beautiful dreamer, waken to (not awake unto) me! Beautiful dreamer, waken to me.
N.B. That word "WAKEN" is the IMPERATIVE TENSE of the verbal form "wake".
Very Nice.. !
