You're all dumb fucks. Early adopters and generally nitwits. Accelerometer based control will NEVER make any sense on a handheld device. It's a gimmick nothing else. I'm pretty sure the Nintendo DS can use belches as alternative input but Nintendo always delineates the practical from the possible. Not because you can means you must, and it takes a special breed whom I call the majority to make these half ass contraptions best sellers.

Your missing the point. These games are not meant to replace Crysis or Uncharted. They are time killers for those boring moments in the waiting room. If it were a gimmick the iPhone wouldn't be as popular, if you don't like it, don't buy the product. I find people whom bad mouth others without fulling understanding the situation to be a nitwit. I didn't buy a Pre 6 months ago for the games, but it is a nice to have when I find myself staring at a wall with an empty inbox.

your argument made little sense. all i was pointing out is that accelerometer based, ie tilt control mechanisms are gimmicks because they are counter intuitive especially for a genre like racing which is already hampered by the smaller screen. this has nothing to do with the iphone in particular as many devices have accelerometers. my gripe is only with developers who try to sell hardware features instead of products which is all i see here.

While it may be a gimmick to translate to the console or the PC, I believe accelerometer based games are decent for handheld products. Especially ones not targeted exclusively at gaming. That's what I was saying. Seeing as you were commenting on an accelerometer game on a handheld device, I figured you were talking about them, not accelerometer games in general. (I.E. games for the Wii)

I apologize for my tone. I'm a developer and it's always disappointing when I see gimmicks passed off as innovation. It's the same thing I see with multi touch peripherals, they're intuitive in certain instances but all I see is a rush to be the first to find a new way to implement the technology no matter how practical. Eventually the useless applications will be phased out. I'm kind of a nintendo fanboy and I agree that nintendo revolving their console around the controller was gimmicky.

@thefran1996 You probably don't like Android because if you're using the G1 you don't have a very updated version. Android 2.0 and 2.1 are much nicer and faster than the version on the G1. Android is catching up to everything else and will surpass them. Why do you need 3D gaming on a phone? Get a DS or PSP they blow cell phone gaming away.

As you can see they have to update the G1 already to 2.x , the only problem is the limited space on the g1.

What? You forget that the iphone didn't have a whole lot of standard features to begin with. iPhone OS has made changes in those departments. But as far as more new features, yes iPhone OS is pretty slow in advancing but at the same time it's just one company making the hardware and the software so that is expected.

I mean the droid was a dud because although it uses android 2.0 or 2.1 it has a very low grade GUI. It doesn't matter if it has more capabilities than an iPhone or a BlackBerry Storm because it's just a bare OS. That's why HTC puts "Sense" over android, because it makes sense to put a "skin," if you will, over.

It is also a dud because, in terms of sales, it only sold 100,000 units of it's 200,000 it's first weekend.

Ya that's fine.....iPhone 3GS sold 1.6 million in week 1. I'm not bragging, I'm just pointing out that it was pretty much a dud in sales if you put into account all of the hype and the company that was utilized to deliver the experience. I believe the storm was a much bigger success and look at it now, $50.
