@EnvelopeGenerator even the hand placement is decently reminiscent of piano lessons, i mean it's the proper finger placement and all. and the C minor blues noodling is pretty sweet. maybe after all you could buy a fender rhodes and practice on that, it's probably cheaper than a good sounding piano
For the money do you think its worth it to go with a Model D or Old School Minimoog, or will The Prodigy do as well for the 2'000 or whatever it is less?
I have a question concerning the filter: did you have something repaired? It seems that the self oscillating resonance is much louder and has a wider range that at my moog prodigy.
@panulli4 The only thing I repaired was the dodgy keyboard contacts, everything else was in unbelievably great condition. I don't know what the previous owners might have done, though. What version is your Prodigy, does it have the CV/gate inputs at the back?
@panulli4 A very early version without the CV/gate inputs, but the previous owner had retrofitted CV, gate and filter inputs. Maybe the different versions explains the filter differences?
@panulli4 You could check the capacitators in the ladder filter. Could be that they are not in best condition. But in fact I think it's just a difference in production. I would email Moog Music. They are usually really helpful and tell you what to do.
The trick you do at 3:42 with the pitch wheel controlling the 2nd oscillator, can that be done with the Minimoog? Does anybody know? Sounds amazing! Maybe a better question is "is there anything this can do that the Mini can't do?
@fooloof As far as I'm aware, the original Minimoog Model D doesn't have oscillator sync, but the newer Minimoog Voyagers do. Other than that, the Prodigy isn't that different, except the Model D as a larger keybed, 6 different waveforms, a noise generator, external audio in, the third oscillator can be switched to an LFO, and it costs three grand more.
@EnvelopeGenerator wait... were you born/did you live your early years in ireland, or do you just mean your parents come from ireland or what? because i was born/lived in scotland till i was 6 moved down to england, and lost my scottish accent. shit sucks. just wondering if that happened to you, taking in mind you also have an english accent.
I think they used the Prodigy in Keep You by Class Actress, and it sounds fantastic

@lucadepu Nope, I wish I did though, maybe then I'd be able to do more than just mess around in a minor pentatonic scale :P

@EnvelopeGenerator mine is the later version with the CV/Gate/Sync in/... inputs on the back. which version is yours?

@EnvelopeGenerator does the self-oscillating resonance at your prodigy fade away as you turn the cut of frequence down?

OK, maybe they are a bit different.

I heard The Group "Prodigy" actually named the group after the Synth machine they used to create the music, wonder if it was this!
: O
MrGuvEuroman 9 months ago
@MrGuvEuroman Indeed they did, and this is the first synth Liam Howlett owned, so he named the band after it!
