I am South African. Our constitution already provides GLBT's equality and protection under the law. However, I live in Taiwan - here the bugbear issue is Chinese traditionalism: i.e. the old Family Values card (which is nothing more than male machismo dolled up with frills and lace). The Christians (the more shallow charismatic sort, alas) are also making headway with their usual hate-all-gays rhetoric. It's a sorry old world, eh?
