If there's any chance of no compulsory retirement age, then we could be led by Dr Cable out of the recession and for many years to come (should he want to work beyond retirement when his time comes). Proud to be one of his constituents, both he and Mr Clegg have my vote. However, they better improve the local hospitals big time though. For an afluent area, a lot of us still earn under £20k and rely on the nhs for lifelong treatment for various hidden conditions.

Remember the Govt, banks and Financial Sector produce NOTHING, they are an overhead.

Vince Cable is really past his sell by date. The Lib Dems have totally accepted the Tory view on the economy. Thank God we have Brown. During this crisis our output has fallen less than our main competitors and unemployment here is lower than in US and Europe. And Brown has kept us out of the dreadful Eurozone without stirring up xenophobia. I will be happily voting Labor next week.

i think they could adequately be a counseler, but think they would be out of their depth as a euro mp or an mp. if they did get a single mp, it would have to be the lonliest job in the world! i think one of the bad things about the race hatred laws, is that the bnp have adapted into something more electable. its labours problem as they are all disillusioned labour voters, how ever much they try and pin it on the tories.

I would not be too suprised if Labour were left with 1-5 MEP's, however, we dont want them doing to badly otherwise Brown will get a leadership challenge and a new leader could help labour do better come next election, so i hope they loose alot of MEP's but do just well enough to keep Gordon Brown in, this will ensure Labour does extremly poorly at the GE.

yes, its a knife edge, that they need to get absolutely destroyed in the euro elections, yet do well enough so gordo can still see off a leadership challenge. alan johnson is the biggest threat to the tories and lib dems, but harmen would be a godsend. i think with what hazel blears has gone through, with no. 10 smearing her, she would be prime candidate for a stalking horse to get the ball rolling.

Agreed, many Lib Dems and tories want to see Labour completly destroyed in the euro elections, but that is (like a Labour supporter) thinking in the short term, it needs to be weak but just strong enough for Gordon Brown to keep hisLeadership of Labour. Lets just hope that Labour are pushed into thrid place (close 4th) that may be enough to kep Brown as leader but enough to cripple Labour on an international stage.

I certainly hope so, i am suprised the Lib Dems arnt doing better in the polls due to the whole Gurkha issue, June Julyish could see Labout begining to slip below 20% and Lib Dems getting between 20-25, in which case, Lib Dems could very well become opposition next election and i hope they bloody well do, the liberals will then take back their rightful place in the commons as one of the 2 main parties.

i personally would like to see tories winning the majority and opposed by the lib dems, with a defunct labour party sitting on the edge. i think this outcome would see more emphasis value for money which i think the lib dems and tories possese, but labour are just happy throwing money at a problem and letting it fester. this way we may get rid of our debt and improve services.

Yeah, i would like to see the Lib Dems take govt. but that sems unlikly fornow, a much more realistic Goal for them is Opposition with maybe 100 seats, or the balance of power in a hunger parlaiment (mainly the Opposition because a hunger parlaiment could see the Lib Dems split between the Liberal side and the Socialist side) I just hope they make gains.

I seriously do hope so, through Labour have the unions behind them, so they will always have a core vote no matter how bad the current government is. Nick just needs to come into his own now and get people talking and we have a great team for the next election.
