Once one of my friend had ( i don't know if it was really a problem ? ) an issue with his PCM. The car without a chip was able to reach more than 7200 RPM on the stock tach. That was pretty.. scary the first time we heard the car reving that high without any cut off. Still a mystery today lol. Sorry for the bad english by the way. i speak french
@TheMrDacious a chip can be programmed to bypass all of that. It took me forever to get my 347 right. If I ever build another Fox, I will go carburated.
Tach is way the hell off.... he's spinning to about 6k. You can even see when he's stopped and idling it sounds like 600 rpm idle yet the tach shows 1500 lol
I must say that your tach is way off!! and for having possi you must be like stock 200-225 with them kind of burnouts having to use the brake like that. looks like ur having fun though.
@smd9996 You can tell how fast this car is just by watching a tach? Well, lets see some vids of this beastly dickhead-max you got. What retard buys a HD truck to go faster than a muscle car? Its like using a hair straightener to iron clothes instead of... an iron...
@Beldar4214 I wouldn't do it but, maybe someone likes the looks and comfort of a truck and the speed of a muscle car, people can do what they want with their money
all you people who think the tach is wired wrong, if it was then why would his idle only be around 1100 (0:38), just like normal... 8000 rpm is not unheard of in a 5.0, its very easy infact with the right build
@dlinecg in my mud truck i baught a tach and at idle it idled at 1000 rpm's and when i held it to the floor the tach went all the way up past 13 grand :/ so it could be
what part of Nc you guys from, I heard Hickory nc name drop on the radio, just curious, I have a 87 notch 347 and live in Southern Va close to nc, in the mtns
i own this car now it was a 306 with stock bottom end and aluminum heads motor was alright for wat it is but it never has seen 8,000 rpm if it did the bottom end would be gone the tach is wired wrong in this video its showin 5,000 rpms when he is slowing down
that's what I said I wile ago fix the tac its on the wrong setting, and this little prick called me names and said I didn't know what the fuck I was talking about.I sell performance parts.Change the videos name to nice mustang hauls ass or something else. That car does run well.If its not blown sky high by now.I'm not a hater.Just a little pissed on how this kid responded to me .
@thedoc612 i get it. but i see a big ass tach on a street car, like having glue on accents similar to fake air vents, etc...another example is a pillar gauge pod...that houses a clock. just my opinion. my dumb opinion. good observation buddy.

@Thra5her you forgot a few FE's 360,391,410(mercury only),the 429 is a 385 series like the 460,but as for 351's the windsor is a small block but has a differant deck height than 289/302 and also has 1/2 head bolts as 302 are 7/16,clevlands are also differant from mods the only thing clevs'and mods have in common is they both use the same crank, but other than that the mod is a 400 block completely diff.
@catwalkcody nope thra5her said that one ford made a 391 industial engine from 67 to 72 very hard to find engine casting numbers for the block are D4Te they are called a 105 mirror block they have the same main journals as a 428scj,makes great budget strokers...and i also love my 390 4v's great engines....
yea...this car isnt supposed to take over 5500 rpm...unless u changed the block, heads, valve springs, rockers, pushrods, cam, and pretty much everything else
@TheFordshaker my bad, i read something different then you did....i dont take mine over 5500, for those purposes....but i dont care what you do with yours....i just dont have the money to rebuild my motor if it locks up or something hahaha
That 302 was maybe redlining at 6k, nice try though. for a small block 8k is literally almost screaming. You would need very good cam, bearings, and loads more compression to be pushing that kinda RPM's.
A 302 FROM THE FACTORY with a roller cam will redline over 6000 rpm. Plus out of a 351 Cleveland (small block) you can make em do 9500 rpm. If you don't believe me, there's videos on YouTube to prove it.
Oh I know man. I used to own a 71 Ford Torino with the 351 Cleveland. Badass motor from the factory. It wasn't running all the way right though. It needed a carb. rebuild. Got rid of it and I got a 86 Ranger with the 2.9 V6. I wasn't trying ta prove you wrong. But just from the looks of the video the tac didn't seem accurate.
@Metalhead0166 Oh yeah it definitely wasn't accurate, you could tell. Sorry if I came off as a dick lol. But you are right, a 302 at 8k would be freaking SCREAMING. But they're not built like a Cleveland though :)
ah its cool man. I can't wait to get back from my AIT's coming up. I plan on building a mud truck. Ill try a big block this time instead of a small block. I'm thinking a 460 in a 76 f-100. You building anything right now??
@Metalhead0166 Fuck yeah! Building a nice 5.0 for my Foxbody that I'm restoring. My harmonic balancer is coming in from Summit and the motor will be basically complete. I got adjustable roller rockers for my Edelbrock heads and the studs are too tall to run reg. valve covers so I used tall ones so then my intake won't fit without hitting the valve covers so I need a throttle body spacer and upper to lower intake spacer :p THEN it'll be ready to drop in
Hell yeah man ! Me and my dad are building a Carb. 302 that came out of an original Mercury Zephyr. Its gonna go in my 86 ranger. We have a set of Brodux heads with 202 ports, Lunati Comp cam 283 D, and 517 lift. Edlebrock High rise intake, forged piston, and we have a diff oil pump coming for it as well. Were gonna use my old Holley 570 street avenger that i pulled of my Camaro. We have a higher temp thermostat and universal housing. We estimate it at around 380 Hp to the crank
@Metalhead0166 Not bad dude. Got my motor all complete besides my throttle body spacer. I ended up buying a cheap EGR plate (cheaper than a legit throttle body spacer and also thicker) and all I need is one of the holes on the side welded up and I'll have it all complete. I need to make a video of everything here soon.
all you guys talking shit that dude prolly has engine mods and is easily hitting 7K or slight higher depending on mods the stock tach is know to be off 500rpm i would imagine that the aftermarket tach may be off but 500k or more also but either way that up in the rpms and i can tell its forsure reving past 6k if the ecu has a chip other 6k is the redline for stock computer also depends on cam and engine work which why most of the people in here dont have any idea what the hell their talking abou
@cstz24 ..totally agree with ya...see how slow it falls off to idle...6200 maybe... sounds like an ole hipo 289 I used to run. Not bad, but totally expected from a KLOWN.
maybe 6700 rpm if that, my 302 in my f150 with cams and headman shorty headers tops a little under 7000 and every once and a while you get some valve float so no way 8000 rpm, tach is probably set on V6, flip the switch on the back
@bmob01 doesn't work that way, if he has it set on v6 then every 6th count it registers a reading, when it should be every 8th count, that is why if you have a v8 and you set your tach on 4 cyl then it will read exactly double the true rpms, tachs read off either the coil like mine or off a sensor on the bottom of the motor, or in some cases on the flywheel
@snowmobilejon5000 yeah I know I was being a smart as "Prolly just as fast as a v6 anyways" because I was feeling like an asshole but I realize now that in turn making fun of a foxbody is a sin. I later went out to my 89 GT and looked at the empty engine bay wishing my 408 stroker was done right now :(
@bmob01 doesn't work that way, if he has it set on v6 then every 6th count it registers a reading, when it should be every 8th count, that is why if you have a v8 and you set your tach on 4 cyl then it will read exactly double the true rpms, tachs read off either the coil like mine or off a sensor on the bottom of the motor, or in some cases on the flywheel, depends on the vehicle
yeah there is no way youd get 8k out of a 5.0, it would fall apart. I have a 93 cobra 5.0 in my 65 mustang and i have the rev limiter at 6k because my cam produces its max out put at 5500. Plus at 6k mine sounds just like this...
is that really 8k or is it BS. whats your set up engine an rear gears? their is no way in hell thats a hydraulic cam right it has to be a mechanical roller or flat tapet.
everyone knows it is possible to rev a 302 past 6250 we are all just saying this one isnt doing it the tach is set for v6

@cstz24 ..totally agree with ya...see how slow it falls off to idle...6200 maybe... sounds like an ole hipo 289 I used to run. Not bad, but totally expected from a KLOWN.
poiznd1 8 months ago
doesnt sound like those revs either. probly set the tach to 4 banger.
pepene93 10 months ago
uncalibrated tach or not, either way, its still a bad ass stang
hully1029 10 months ago
those classic mid 80's 5.0 sounds are so distinct
Oneversal 10 months ago
maybe 6700 rpm if that, my 302 in my f150 with cams and headman shorty headers tops a little under 7000 and every once and a while you get some valve float so no way 8000 rpm, tach is probably set on V6, flip the switch on the back
snowmobilejon5000 10 months ago
@snowmobilejon5000 why should he flip the switch? Prolly just as fast a v6 anyways :p
bmob01 10 months ago
@bmob01 doesn't work that way, if he has it set on v6 then every 6th count it registers a reading, when it should be every 8th count, that is why if you have a v8 and you set your tach on 4 cyl then it will read exactly double the true rpms, tachs read off either the coil like mine or off a sensor on the bottom of the motor, or in some cases on the flywheel
snowmobilejon5000 10 months ago
@snowmobilejon5000 yeah I know I was being a smart as "Prolly just as fast as a v6 anyways" because I was feeling like an asshole but I realize now that in turn making fun of a foxbody is a sin. I later went out to my 89 GT and looked at the empty engine bay wishing my 408 stroker was done right now :(

fidstang 10 months ago
yeah there is no way youd get 8k out of a 5.0, it would fall apart. I have a 93 cobra 5.0 in my 65 mustang and i have the rev limiter at 6k because my cam produces its max out put at 5500. Plus at 6k mine sounds just like this...

That car is rimming it's guts out at 5600 RPM.
A small-block ford hitting 8 grand sounds a lot different than this mess.
Still a nice car, though.
