This is a great song. Donovan is great not because he goes somewhere nobody else could go, like other artists, but because he's willing come back and get you and take you as far as you are willing to follow him. There is something very human and innate about his lyrics. He sings as our daydreams are: fruitish.
Re yusakuJon:Strange you should mention Marc Bolan,as he's rumoured to be playing on this track, though it's never been confirmed by anybody in the know.
Sounds like Donovan Leicht made his transition into the 1970s pretty well in this track. I'm reminded a little bit of Marc Bolan and T Rex here with the strings. He seemed to fade from popular airplay after 1969 in the States, though (none of his LPs post-Babarajagal get played).
A few years back he made something of a comeback on college radio with a track from his album Sutras. I thought it was a fine folksy tune.
Your video reminds me of my first Dead concert in '68! I didn't do drugs but sure enjoyed the show...this was a big deal & new back then. One of my favorite Donovan songs. My ex husband is partly an 'ex' due to his lack of enjoyment of this type music. Thanks for uploading this. BTW, Donovan was almost an 'Elvis' in stature in Europe and really loved in the USA in the 60's and early 70's.
Donovan will infinitely remain hip. One of the most underrated artists, if people gave him a listen they'd instantly fall in love and blow their minds simultaneously.
I wish more modern artists would make use of string instruments for more than generic three-note samples to give their club songs some much-needed weight. Donavan does it right. Also, lots of vocalists could learn from his example; it's hard to understand him, but not impossible unless it's meant to be. And of course, the song is awesome, and trippy as hell.
This is my favorite psychedelic vid on the Tube; best job I've seen yet. Thank you for it. And, oh yeah...it sounds fantastic. I feature it off and on; this is the one I keep coming back to. Peace!
@Jaketacular420 Overlooked?? Donovan was quite popular as I recall and plenty of artists have covered his material. I occasionally play something by him at open mics.
@Jaketacular420 Maybe I'm just getting old but newer generations don't seem to have a lot of choice. Doesn't seem like there's much there. People seem much more tight-assed about everything. There are certainly no Donovan's anymore. Glad I grew up in the generation I did.

One of Donovan's very best, - injected with a special blend of magic from his re-unification with Mickey Most.
Many thanks for posting this much-overlooked masterpiece from a great Glasgee man !
