i would say only one thing.. i know that conditioning and 'as real as possible' sparring is the only way to get used to hits and the only way to make techneques reactionary so you dont waste time thinking about it. but spinning backfists or in this case 'forearm' are quite devastating and sometimes hard to control, with that in mind wouldnt it be a better idea to at least give your partner headgear or a forearm guard? especially if your going to drill it a few times...
@brinmcphin Actualy breathing releases energy or some will call it Chi when delivering the blow. But you are still correct it helps that the muscles have oxygen.
also it is common when fighters get punched in the lung area, especially when fatigued, they can have the wind knocked out of them. the woosh sound helps them control the breathing with their heart rate
It's a common technique to build more speed and force.. it's a forceful breathing that causes you to pump more blood thru your body. I don't know if it's really scientifically proven to work, but it's pretty frequently taught. Sorta like the yelling to pump your adrenaline.
In the early stages of sparring,I did like how the shorter fellow(with OD trousers)landed some nice round kicks to the lead leg of the taller fellow...damage a leg, they are slowed from stalking you, you can escape to safety easier!
The only thing that was clear in that fight was the lack of skill and control, 4.5 hrs of training and then semi contact, you kidding, hope your insured!!

It's proper breathing. Proper breathing during a fight helps you get stronger blows.

because when you exhale at the last moment your
muscles tense up (hit harder) and if you get struck at the same moment it hurts less
AND it helps you breath and not get light headed when fighting

Shit hot! The guy doing the kicks would hardly do that in a street fight! Four arms to the throat!
