This makes me want to sign up for Star Fleet although I know as both a Black and gay guy I'd end up in a red shirt and die in my first hour in space....on second thought...
I wonder if I'm the only one who grew up with the original series, Kirk, Spock and McCoy, then in my later teens discovered The Next Generation and the sheer intelligence of that series, and then saw this and nearly cried at the ending narration?
Since I was a child I always wanted to get in to Star Trek but never did until this movie. Loved it.
All I knew about Star Trek before this movie was from a great game ST: Voyager – Elite Force, I didnt know who klingons were or anything, but I sure learned what B-mod is my best friend, against the Borg..damn they scared me shittles in that game.
now I watched TOS, TNG, D9 & Voyager, and still cant get enough of it.
so thanks for this nice movie for introducing me to ST.
Spock y Kirck observan la vastedad negra y salpicada de puntos luminosos. Aún jóvenes y hermosos, ambos, suelen conceder cierta libertad al riesgo; así, se teletransportan al corazón de un planeta más hostil que el de los propios Klingom.
Does anyone here think that Michael Giacchino is the modern day equivelent of John Williams? This expression has been tossed around alot in regards to the composer, but does anybody here, listening to this track, agree? For me, if he continues to make more compelling scores like this, then he might just be. Both share a mutual sense of magic and wonder in their scores, so they're pretty similar. Time will tell.
@XtremeGoose personally, i don't think he's quite there yet. he certainly hits the epic nail on the head here, but john williams had a LOT of epic scores, but i haven't seen much from giacchio yet. still, if he keeps up with scores this good, he may reach that mark.
Never watched Star Trek. This is the first Star Trek related thing I've ever seen and it was amazing. Can't wait for sequel. Still think everything else to do with Star Trek is gay though.
Err just incase you misread what I said. I currently, always have and always will firmly believe that everything to do with Star Trek, excluding this film is gay. Don't bend my words.
i rly can't understand why some hardcore trekkies hate this film. sure, its different, music is different, the bridge is very shiny, but that gives it a new futuristic feeling and i've had enough of the dark battleship bridge style star trek films. the actors are pretty darn decent and while i really dont' get spock + uhura coming together, hey, its an alternate reality...new things are supposed to happn
@virusguy5611 any trekkie who doesnt like this isnt a real fan anyway. this is by far the best thing to happen to star trek since its original creation.
this sound track is great, it really captures the energy of the movie and is just fun to listen too. After Lost, Up and now Star Trek i have to say that Giacchino is my favourite soundtrack composer right now. Keep up the great work!
My advice to J.J. Abrams for the upcoming sequel: Keep the cast, keep Giacchino on to do the soundtrack, get Orci & Kurtzman off the writing desk. They're talentless hacks who've never written anything good. This movie would have been a masterpiece if Abrams kept the script away from these guys, don't give them the pleasure of a sequel
I was Crying and had Tears in my Eyes when George Kirk was dying and than the shuttles escaped like a string of Pearls in the sun... with this breathtaking Score and sound... never give up ... kirk has saved 800 Lifes great... giving his Life as sacrifice for the others..... unbelievable...
At 1:57 when the enterprise is departing from the space station and you can see the rest of the armada through the view screen and as they all (except enterprise) engage to warp, I thought was AMAZING.
Best scene in this movie for me was when the Enterprise was rising out of the atmosphere of Titan with Saturn in the background. I think this music was playing then too. Awesome.
This part is actually when they're approaching the space station with the Enterprise docked and McCoy says: "Take a look at this" and there's a revealing of the Enterprise . (goose bumps)
ah this is the part at the beginning when it sez star trek. my fave part of the movie was when pike was like "Russian whiz kid--whats your name? chapel, cherkov?" i was rotfling
@opus289 Did you go to see it at IMAX because when this came on with the main title there was a wack in my back when the bass line came in from the sub woofers and i just knew there and then this was something truely special no star trek film has ever made my hairs stand on end in the first 10 minutes.
@opus289 Ah shame because it really hightened the experiance for me, if i had gone to just a normal multiplex to see it i dont think i would of enjoyed it as much, dont get me wrong i would of still loved the film but IMAX added that little extra something.
I got angry cos I don't have the movie :(
