It's even more harder for we Chinese people to learn Norwegian.I've found that there is no any institution in Hong Kong teaching Norwegian.I can just borrow some books from library to learn it by myself.but any way,I'll try my best.thx for sharing!
@plwun48 and im a norwegian who wants to learn chinese (cantonese) which is even more difficult for me. ^^ Now i just started to brainwash myself with TVB series.
i can't stop watching your videos... i'm totally in love with you! so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! come to Brazil soon as possible. You like soccer, i see the poster! come in 2014 World Cup!!
@Conway79 interesting comment. one of the words i used to hate when i started learning norwegian was 'ord' 'ordet' osv. alot of norwegians pronounce it sort of oow and oowe. beautiful language though. love it
man, i wish you had made videos a long time ago when i was first learning norwegian. i went all the way to norway to a folkehogskule to learn because i thought that was the only way. had fun though :P
Is there anyone here who is from norway or who speaks fluent Norwegian who is willing to help me practice my Norwegian regularily on MSN Messenger? Ive learnt a reasonable amount of topics, numbers, colors, nature, basic conversational sentences, weather and some more things. Its hard to remember them when I only practice by myself. Please help? I am travelling to Norway soon, I am going for six months.
a better example of å would be like the o in home, wouldn't it? anybody i know says comeback like cumback, not cåmback.
the way i think of å is that it sounds exactly like the letter "o" in english when you say it. æ is like pat, cat, rat, and ø is like the german and swedish ö's, which kind of sound like the "u" in "burp". i could be wrong though, i know there are short and long versions of each letter
no, the O in comeback isn't a good example because most english or americans pronounce it like cumback. not cOmback. early fallback would be better although not using tye american 'fall' god, language is so complex ! lol
i've been into learning norwegian for a while now and i think that æ ø and å aren't too hard. the word that still has me struggling is a very short and simple one though. it is the bastard word 'ord' my god i find that one difficult. i think it comes out different every time i try it . jeg hater det ordet. ord ord ord urgghhhhhhhh
Tusen takk!! Now it's much more easier to pronounce this letters, especially for me, because my language, greek, is completely different!! Thanks very much again!!
I wanted to simply thank you for your contribution to people attempting to become multilingual. I'm not (yet) learning Norwegian but I do speak Arabic (which I learned as a translator in the USAF), Spanish and also some Dutch. I've always found it interesting how difficult it is for people to learn the sounds that they don't pronounce in their native language. They can be learned no matter what anyone says but sometimes it just takes an explanation like this, so thanks again!
Great tip but i have no problem with those letters. I miss you so much on BlogTV but iam glad you made a new youtube vidfeo. Cheers until i see you again / SweRobin

Looking at the map, I'd say about 90% of people learning Norwegian ARE norwegian... That's rather sad, I'd say.
notelitten1 1 year ago
@notelitten1 Same goes for learning Swedish, probably any other language than Spanish.
Or maybe the "map" thing is messed up. I guess we're all sad, huh.

I disagree with comeback being a good example for how to pronounce å, because the 'o' in comeback really just has the sound of the english 'u'

The o in 'come' is more like a short Norwegian a. The Norwegian å is, as Multigamerlygre said, like 'aww', 'saw', 'paw', raw', etc.
When I first started learning Norwegian I wasn't confused by æ, ø or å, but by y and o. These are the vowels we don't have in English.

A tip for the letter Å. It's an aw sound. Awwww = Ååååå. I'm in shock and Å! =P
Ø sounds = Her book. (Hør book). Well almost the same sound.
And Æ sounds = Mad, bad, and sad dad =D

It's a good idea but it kind of depends on regional pronunciation, for example I would say the 'O' in 'comeback' like "uh" as in Butter.
Maybe a word like 'Odd' for that sound?
