sounds great. in garageband or band in a box, you can code in the bass and drums and plug it into your speakers. Then play the same tune. you will like the results. :)
@geoffpeterstrio ... great version , sensitivity , swing , not o'done .......... as for transition to jazz , no doubt thirteen yrs of classical will have developed great fingerwork .... the rest is in the soul , get inside the head of some of the greats .... look at errol garner's 'thanks for the memory ' .... the first part not hard to imitate ( passably so i mean ) then make up the rest ... use the 'ear' that has been developing subliminally over those thirteen yrs , cheers
I normally don't like the sound of uprights, but this one sounds pretty amazing. It's got a lot of warm tones. Congrats on the new piano, and great playing, as usual.

Hey I'm a novice jazz piano player
I played classical for 13years - but I find the transition hard
Any recommended books?
(Note I don't know much theory)

Open the top, but try miking the back of piano. The back of standup pianos is the soundboard.
Make sure the mics are in-phase, and then twinkle the ivories to your liking....
Opening the top will get rid of the closed/boxy sound and let the soundboard ring better.
Piano and player sound great!

Haha awesome. Dude it sounds really great. Maybe reduce the gain, and put them more inside nearer to the actual strings. That could help quite a bit.
I still think you should do more electronic. Is it going to be on your CD?

thanks!! Good idea, I will try taking off the cover and doing that. :)
Maybe I should make an electronic CD!! :)
