This Thanksgiving people should come clean about their battles with status quo. My husband took a pay cut so one of his female employees can provide her family with insurance because her husband lost his job. We are all enabling the failed concept of employer based insurance. How many people are overworked and underpaid - slaves to their employer based insurance because they have a chronically ill family member? Personally, I think lobbying should be delt with before health care reform, and like a lot of people think, the economy as well. (The drug companies have lobbied almost 200 million this year) However, I think things like energy and healthcare changes are ways to improve the economy.

1. Glass-Steagle repealed by Gramm-Leach-Bliley in 1999. (If you're expecting me to defend Clinton for signing Phil Gramm's folly into law, you're wasting your time.)
2. The CRA was introduced by Carter, and did not force banks to make bad loans to unqualified borrowers. Only to offer them to qualified borrowers in the same areas they took deposits. (And no banks regulated by the CRA failed.) In no way responsible for Sub-prime mortgage crisis.

2. What are you talking about? Jimmy Carter signed the CRA into law in 1977. Barney Frank was not elected to Congress until 1981.
If you want to try to blame the sub-prime mortgage crisis on Frank, ACORN, Obama, or the SEIU you'll have to refine your talking points a little, and be more specific.

As I said before, the CRA didn't force banks to loan to unqualified lenders, and only about 15% of the sub prime mortgages were given out by banks regulated by the CRA. Most were made by mortgage companies not under the purview of the CRA.
At least we agree the GLBA was the problem, although probably for different reasons.

I think we'd better stick with the Democratic Plan.
Right now, a lot of Americans think the reform bill just passed by the House is too liberal. A lot of Americans think it's too conservative. And a very large number think it's just right.

This Thanksgiving people should come clean about their battles with status quo. My husband took a pay cut so one of his female employees can provide her family with insurance because her husband lost his job. We are all enabling the failed concept of employer based insurance. How many people are overworked and underpaid - slaves to their employer based insurance because they have a chronically ill family member? Some bad employers abuse employees vulnerable to this seriously flawed system.

If everyone was like my husband we wouldn't need social policies like health care reform. So, I'm glad health care reform is finally coming along. Absolutely!!! My doctor gave me his opinion, saying that healthcare costs will have to go down when we have the public option. He said that it will be like any other business, competition will drive costs down. BTW, I know that he is a republican too, but he supports Obama on his public option.

Personally, I think lobbying should be delt with before health care reform, and like a lot of people think, the economy as well. (The drug companies have lobbied almost 200 million this year) However, I think things like energy and healthcare changes are ways to improve the economy.
I'm pretty liberal but I think that a 2000 page health care bill is stupid and one of the major problems right now. It makes it basically impossible to fully agree or disagree with any bill. Divide it up lease.
