People interested in this topic should really watch the anime Planetes. It is a great show that is about precisely this problem. In it the main characters are "debris haulers", and the show goes over many of the issues, for acceleration of small objects to the so-called "Kessler Syndrome", in which debris smashes into debris, thus creating even more "space junk".
@bobsavage64 I mentioned another show about "Space Junk", called Planetes. Here is the video number to see the trailer for Planetes on Youtube, for those interested. v=DakRYsUIiIE
I just got the image of Sanford and sons in space heh heh. With the recent concerns of expired or defunct satellites returning to earth, their payloads become a concern to people as shown by the flurry of vids or comments on websites. I think it may have been 2006 when a rogue satellite was shot down by the military for just this reason. I think alot of people would prefer if they used drones with with cables or tractor beams to pull them away from earth towards a refuel/repair station. Cool vid
I saw this in imax and it was pretty awsome. the first 20 minutes though were boring. the other 45 were just plain awsome though
