  • @phr4nk3rd00d13 yes, the American accent is a mix of about 80% Irish and other european languages

  • @phr4nk3rd00d13 Yes. Gaelic languages (Scottish, Irish) is where neutral/General American English got its phonological structure.

  • I absolutely love hearing my grandfather's language alive and well today. It's like a window into the past, thousands of years ago when Celts were more widespread and you could probably hear similarly related languages all over Europe and sometimes beyond.

  • Why wasn't Alistair Darling's words translated like English news does when someone speaks a foreign language? I realise everyone watching BBC Alba would be able to understand English but I think it would be good to have it translated. Not that I'd be able to understand it but one day I will.
