XBOX 360 has to be the crappiest console on earth..every time i fix mine it stops working 3 days later. after a while...cracking it open, for the eleventh time become redundant
just get a ps3, even a used one is more reliable than a brand new 360, xbox 360's are only good for the 1st couple of years or even months and then they all start having ridiculous problems, no point in waisting time and money on a 360, ps3 is the way to go, ull never experience lame ass problems like this

Man this video never gets old! I got the 3 red lights last night, fixed it today but only temporarily. When I got back from dinner and tried to fire 'er up, the 3 red lights were back - bricked once more. Hopefully I can get it working tomorrow...

Yep iv joined the millions who have been swindled into thinking the xbox 360 is worth anything. I had my Halo edition for about 4 or 5 yrs now and finally got the RRoD, fixed it myself cause im not about to pay those idiots more money for something they shoulda had corrected long ago then after the successfull fix i get the trippy color effect going with the end result no video but sound and I'm told this isn't fixable!! WTF!! Can't believe all the add ons i bought!!!!

@timmyblaze hey update doiing the trick to much will cause you to get the e 74 error msg but its all good if u get that error and 1 red ring xbox will extend your warranty for repair then will give u a refurbished or new one with a one year warranty and month of xbox gold my halo 360 is on its way to texas as we speak
@quaymello1 update for me as well...logged in at xbox.com, noticed my warranty for 3 RROD wouldn't be up until this August. 360 started freezing at XBOX screen, then 3 RROD!!! Shipped it back to Mesquite, TX immediately! So they are going to fix it for free! WOOHOOOOOOOOO. Else I would have took it apart myself and done the X Clamp fix.
SO, towel trick only works for about a week and then you start having problems again.
@quaymello1 worked for me too, but only for a few days though. thing is, the solding work melts which causes the chip to come off, thus RROD, when you use the towel trick you basically liquify the solding again thus re-attaching the chip. which will of course, melt off again as it did at first. basically, temporary solution. even still, i dont recommend keeping doing that as you just might overheat another crucial part without knowing
@ComptonG4ngsta i literally banged it out of anger, but it actually restored. my guess is, its just basically a little component also a bit loosened by overheating
Make sure you've plugged in all the TV calbes right if you dont got a HDTV dont use the HD cabels (dunno if you already tryed) or else there can be something wrong whit your cable.
lol, erm dude if you know how to repair the 3 rrod its basically the same thing o-o its simple fix :/ But when you over heat it your xbox besure to pull the fan out and put it on the smaller GPU heatsink thingy and ya when it 2rrod just turn it off and let it cool down boom?
Just purchased X-Clamp replacement bolts from ebay for £1.75, followed youtube videos for dismantling xbox and changed Xclamps for bolts, applied new heatsink compound that came with order that was delivered free. Xbox now working perfectly, kids been playing on it all night.

i have heard many times that this could be fixed by doing the x-clamp replacement and also cleaning out that old S*** on the GPU and CPU and putting Arctic Silver 5 and putting the heat sink back on with screws and rubber washers.

Do the towel trick for the 3 RROD. It always works! If there are no more Red Ring, but theres no video, then shut off xbox, clean all cords, firmly replace them, and done. Your Xbox is fixed!

i towel tricked mine, and it worked for the 1st time i did it. but it still had fucked up graphics, so i figured "hey maybe if i turn it off and turn it back on it will work but better!" ..... WRONG. it just stopped working again. then i tried it like 3 more times and it didnt work. : /

when i had E74 i didnt use the towel trick. i just put two cutips in a couple holes in the back of the xbox. and it reset itself. but that will probably work for no video.

towel trick is bad for your xbox, you get this error as well as RROD from HEAT, so over heating your xbox can cause damage to your xbox's motherboard, what you need to fix the no video with sound is thermal paste ($10.69 USD) from best buy, Torx 10, 9 (core/pro) or Torx 8(elite/halo edition) possibly a 7 for elite not sure. anyways you open your xbox and take out the motherboard replace the thermal paste, let it heat up w/o fan cover and then cool down. takes maybe 30 minutes at most

i have found a way firslty u need to unplug HD and put your HDTV cable and set it to tv and plug in your red white and yellow cables leaving the other ones unpluged seconldy turn on your console and wrap it around your xbox making sure the fan gets coverd thirdly leave it for 15 to 30 mins and let it get rrod once this happend turn off unwrapp it and leave for 5 mins to cool turn back on xbox and it shuld work and then you can even chagne it back to HDTV if u feel comfortable thanks

The problem is that with the towel trick that the 2 points that reaching eachother to start the xbox has been overheat and has melted off. when you let your xbox in a towel an let it on for about 15 min it will be very hot.
Then they say yuo gotta do it in a freezer and it will stick to eachother again but when you keep it in tthe freezer , trust me the xbox will be more fucked up.
i have the same problem just use the towel trick that should do it for like a week or so then u need to keep on doing the towel trick.. its annoying but works! :)
yup just got the same problem.. this problem is actually along the same lines as the RROD as it is most likely the GPU and/or the CPU. just google -xbox 360 no video- and look at the first couple of links. there are ways of fixing it yourself for about $30 (usd). way cheaper than sending it to microsoft with a void warranty or buying a new console.

towel trick will work on the (no picute and sound, and or white lines) for some its tempry, for others it lasts weeks. And once you learn a bit more, the x-clamp fix will do it permantly

Happened to me too. Was playing Call of Duty 2 and noticed the colors were changing to green and red. Reset the 360 and the video wasn't showing up but I could hear the audio. Sent it off last week and still under warranty... so hopefully will come back soon!
This Audio no Video happened to me FIVE DAYS after I bought a used one on eBay...the company that sold it to me said just send it back to us, and we will give you a new one.

i have heard many times that this could be fixed by doing the x-clamp replacement and also cleaning out that old S*** on the GPU and CPU and putting Arctic Silver 5 and putting the heat sink back on with screws and rubber washers.

Do the towel trick for the 3 RROD. It always works! If there are no more Red Ring, but theres no video, then shut off xbox, clean all cords, firmly replace them, and done. Your Xbox is fixed!

i towel tricked mine, and it worked for the 1st time i did it. but it still had fucked up graphics, so i figured "hey maybe if i turn it off and turn it back on it will work but better!" ..... WRONG. it just stopped working again. then i tried it like 3 more times and it didnt work. : /
btw i felt really stupid after figuring out u can just pry the damn case off when u get to the upper and bottom part, cuz i spent a lot of time trying to figure it out. lol

when i had E74 i didnt use the towel trick. i just put two cutips in a couple holes in the back of the xbox. and it reset itself. but that will probably work for no video.

towel trick is bad for your xbox, you get this error as well as RROD from HEAT, so over heating your xbox can cause damage to your xbox's motherboard, what you need to fix the no video with sound is thermal paste ($10.69 USD) from best buy, Torx 10, 9 (core/pro) or Torx 8(elite/halo edition) possibly a 7 for elite not sure. anyways you open your xbox and take out the motherboard replace the thermal paste, let it heat up w/o fan cover and then cool down. takes maybe 30 minutes at most

i have found a way firslty u need to unplug HD and put your HDTV cable and set it to tv and plug in your red white and yellow cables leaving the other ones unpluged seconldy turn on your console and wrap it around your xbox making sure the fan gets coverd thirdly leave it for 15 to 30 mins and let it get rrod once this happend turn off unwrapp it and leave for 5 mins to cool turn back on xbox and it shuld work and then you can even chagne it back to HDTV if u feel comfortable thanks

The problem is that with the towel trick that the 2 points that reaching eachother to start the xbox has been overheat and has melted off. when you let your xbox in a towel an let it on for about 15 min it will be very hot.
Then they say yuo gotta do it in a freezer and it will stick to eachother again but when you keep it in tthe freezer , trust me the xbox will be more fucked up.

The towel trick is a temporary fix. It may get your 360 working for 15 minutes to a day.

I've heard both sides... some times the trick works, some times it doesn't.
Either way, no one should have to do more than just plug it in to the wall to get it working.
Don't get my wrong, I love my 360... when it works.
Send it in to Microsoft for repair, and hope they don't take another royal dump on it.

yup just got the same problem.. this problem is actually along the same lines as the RROD as it is most likely the GPU and/or the CPU. just google -xbox 360 no video- and look at the first couple of links. there are ways of fixing it yourself for about $30 (usd). way cheaper than sending it to microsoft with a void warranty or buying a new console.

I have a 20gb 360, so I have all the hd cables bigger hard drive etc, so can I buy an XBOX Arcade and use my old cables and old hard drive?

towel trick will work on the (no picute and sound, and or white lines) for some its tempry, for others it lasts weeks. And once you learn a bit more, the x-clamp fix will do it permantly

Happened to me too. Was playing Call of Duty 2 and noticed the colors were changing to green and red. Reset the 360 and the video wasn't showing up but I could hear the audio. Sent it off last week and still under warranty... so hopefully will come back soon!
