  • There is no such a bike as this one.I finally managed to get a 998 for myself.. And after riding almost 13 years, had all the R-s.. There is no bike which could get even close to this art of motorcycling..

    Cheers

  • 01:27 is he really tall or it's the bike small? Also at 01:20 when he arrives the bike looks small under him

  • Terminogni exhaust.. Terminogni exhaust is to ducs as yoshimura is to jap bikes

  • What exhaust did the bikes have on? At 00:40 i had an orgasm.

  • Take the 996, has the charm of the perfect bike .... like all tucati

  • i love that sound! (996 owner)

  • I've gathered that the noise at the beginning is supposed to be there. But what is it.

  • @ecashinxxx

it is the dry clutch ;)

  • @ecashinxxx its a jar of spoons that he keeps by the instrument cluster.. can anyone help me with my slipper clutch?? its making noises since i fitted it

  • dry clutches. awesome. better sound. more power. couldn't get much more win on a bike that sounds like a ducati.

  • I feel for these countries that have to have that huge license plate. its gotta be like a parachute!

  • can the dry clutch be converted?

  • fucking awesome, before had a 748, and now I own a 749 and it doesnt sound like the old 748. :( mis it

  • Man that just makes me want one... Check out some of my vids comment and sub...

  • this bike was at the top of its class for sooo many years i want one now.

  • i don't sound like shit...... you're used to hear 4 inline cylinder engine... this is a V-twin......15 yo douchebag will never learn.........

  • Sorry I'm a bit bias, I like the sound of the good old 1975 900ss with twin conti's 40mm delorto's and the goodies from imola......don't mean any disrespect though, the new duke's win on performance.

  • Awesome sound! I'm building a model of these bikes right now...

  • Second rider is obviously new, I ride a Ducati 748, have done for a long time, and the way the second rider is sat must be killing him, putting all the weight on his wrists...

  • those clutches would simply drive me fucking nuts.

  • that noise is the very reason people buy these bikes!.... i know i would!... sounds like a REAL machine.

  • Even the MotoGP Bikes have dry clutch - must be the best for a race bike

  • @BeneBub its just that its the easiest to change/ change quickely

  • i love the sound of a dry clutch

  • @ryandthack Why does it sound like some chain links are stuck in the engine rattling around, is that suppose to sound like that ?

  • @ryandthack yeah my brother has one on his. Bit of an aquired taste I think. He loves it but I dont. I have a new ZX6r with yoshi and prefer the smooth high rev sound

(I know I have jast invited plenty of duc' fans to trash me but whatever!)

  • The 'tambourine' noise is the clutch. It is supposed to sound like that. It is a dry clutch, as in not lubricated with oil.

  • but what exactly makes that noise?

  • i think its the washers in the clutch.

  • Oil? is there anything lubricating it?

  • I think your talking about the Dry clutch sound no?

  • yeah i'm not a bike guy but that just doesnt sound right.

  • i got a question for people who know about 916, 996 and 998:

how much faster is the 996 than the 916 and how much faster is the 988 than the other two?

i want on of these three bikes (they look pretty much the same right? or am i wrong?) and my 1st choice is the tru original 916, but if any of the other two are at all significantly faster, id go for the faster one.

and no, i do not have a chance to test ride them cause those bikes have to be shipped to where i live

  • take 998 - it is a different newer engine a bit more power !

  • what if i were to already own a new ducati 1098 or 1098s...

which do you think would be the better bike out of the oldies?

  • @lobzdik

not big big differences..of course, a 998 will have much power more, and is newer, but of course, 916 is a legend...sound is the same, it's a ducati old style and each one will give big emotion just to hear sound. Evrything depend from your experience, a 916 is very powerful but you can drive it and learn how that bike wants to be driven (differently for japanese, completely) a 998 would be more powerful, but you have to know how to give gas..they are beautiful monsters.

  • 916: ~105-108 RWHP

    916SP: ~115 RWHP

    996BiP: ~110-115 RWHP

    916SPS: ~125 RWHP

    996R: ~135 RWHP

  • hmm that clutch of that first bike...the deep sound and the sound of the clutch..great vid!

  • rev-limiter!

  • 916 is sick, but im more for the 998, i think thats what put ducati on the racing boards

  • Dry clutches for the win.

I have a 94 916 with carbon all over the place & the bike just feels alive.

  • right on...dunno what exhaust im going to put on the ducati 748...either termi or arrow

  • right on...i want to get a cruiser as well...but im not over the "crotchrocket" stage yet:)

those ex500s sounds mean with an exhaust on it..have u done that yet?

  • no shiitt...i had one of those...had it for one year then upgraded to the 636

  • sweeet...wut kawasaki is that? i ride an 04 zx6r

  • that i will...that i will...u too as well if u have a two wheeled device lol

  • i ride to ride...don't care about racing...so why not get a timeless piece of machinery

  • you get a ducati for the ducati experience...i myself have a kawasaki...i hopped on a ducati this summer...and im never looking back

  • dry clutch lets it down...thats one of the beauties of a ducati...if u dont love the sound of it..go play with a honda

  • 900ccm isnt enough...1000 or 1100 ;-)

  • stfub noob, the engine was built for that kind of shit why do you FUCKING THINK THAT BIKE is over 15k-60k

studied noob, nice bike but whats that clinking nonce?

  • clutch.

  • Me a noob? Apparently you didn't even know that was the dry clutch making that noise. Oh, and by the way, NO these bikes were NOT designed to be revved like that. No bike is. NO ENGINE IS DESIGNED TO DO THAT PERIOD. Its ok, not good but ok, to hit the rev limiter while the bike is under load or in gear, NOT IN NEUTRAL. Revving an engine to that extent that is not under load is EXTREMELY bad for ANY engine. Regardless of who built it, how its designed, or how much it costs. Fucker

  • NOOOOBB

  • Also, these bikes do not cost 60k, they cost 20k brand new, thats it. The 916 sps maybe cost 26-29k but these are not that bike. And I love how you think you know so much when it looks like the only experience you have with a bike is that little fucking pocket rocket piece of shit that you also REVVED THE SHIT OUT OF. Thats super. Have fun with that thing when it blows up.

  • I have never had the displeasure of hearing a Ducati being bounced off the rev limiter and I hope I never have to hear it again. Its disgusting what you would do to that beautiful bike.
