  • Are you still in Japan?

I lived in Cambodia for 2yrs. I trained in Bokator and Wado Ryu. Im from DC where I trained under Ki Whang Kim (Taekwondo Moo Duk Kwon) who had trained under Toyama Kanken (Shudokan) in Japan. So as you can see we did Japanese katas and not TKD katas. Ive been looking at all the different ways ppl do their katas and it is an eye opener. Ive always wonder how Masumura did the katas and some of these give me an idea.

  • @Kinghercules yes I am still in Japan. I studied karatedo and aikido in the U.S. for 10 years, came to Japan and started in Aikikai aikido and Iaido for a short while. Although I do miss the dynamics of karate, for me, aikido's focus on efficient movement turned my old way of thinking upside down and has been both challenging and rewarding. But every now and then I dust off the karate kata. You have a variety of martial experiences. I hope you're training always shows improvement.

  • The internet is good because we get to see all the different styles of doin katas. Im not use to seeing some of these katas done the way are done.

  • @Kinghercules it is also strange for me to see different ways to do kata I have done for 26 years. But I have come to think that it is not what you do on the outside that counts so much as how you move from within. I can appreciate martial artists who move well.

  • What version of Rohai is this?

Why were you so off center?

At what level do yall teach this?

  • @Kinghercules this is the version of kata Rohai that I learned years ago. The style is now called Bushin Kan, but I no longer train in karatedo.

By "off center" I hope you mean ending in a place far from where I started the kata and not my balance. That is how I learned it. If you do mean my balance, then I can only say that I am always working on better balance. It was usually taught at green/blue belt level. Thanks for watching.
