Honestly, I had the same thoughts when I first saw the ads for the show, but it doesn't glorify being pregnant it shows how it messes up relationships with parents, boyfriends, and your finances when you're not prepared for kids. Not to mention after watching Farrah's labor I don't think many teens will be jumping at the chance to have kids anytime soon.
My only worry is that there will be some out there who will get pregnant just to be on tv, but thats a whole other problem

Honestly, I had the same thoughts when I first saw the ads for the show, but it doesn't glorify being pregnant it shows how it messes up relationships with parents, boyfriends, and your finances when you're not prepared for kids. Not to mention after watching Farrah's labor I don't think many teens will be jumping at the chance to have kids anytime soon.
My only worry is that there will be some out there who will get pregnant just to be on tv, but thats a whole other problem

Humans have the biological need to reproduce as soon as their bodies are ready to do so. During the middle ages, girls would be married and having children as soon as they began to menstruate.
To ignore that biological need for sex is naiive. Religion represses the desire, but does not get rid of it. We need to do away with these abstinence programs (because they are clearly not working) and focus on birth-control oriented sex education instead.

I also think as time progresses that our society matures a lot slower than they used to. They are too immature now to have a baby, where as way back it was normal and they handled it just fine. We've declined. How positive. :P

Abstinence-only sex programs rely on the fact that its students are as religiously devoted to the concept of sex-after-marriage as before. What it fails to take into account is the prevalence of sexual freedom in the media, and the urges encoded into the genes. Kids are just too curious. There's no way around it, and if you don't accept this and help them prepare for it, there will be more "16 and pregnant"s.
