  • That's not a drift. It's over steer.

  • @jdswiney A drift is oversteer effectively ! Durr...

  • @eezy1972 I think drifting also to do with wheel spin due to torque. Drifting seems to maintain the "slide" due to wheel rear wheel spin. This seems to be nothing more than a heavy rear end car being turned sudden and sharp. xD

  • i love doing this in my fatty. get it sideways a bit and floor it! woooo!!! oh shit. theres a cop. brakes!

  • Ate o meu fusca motor 1300 faz isso. ate meu escorte motor cht 1.0 faz isso.

  • Not really though....

  • No comment :(((

  • Where do you mount the intercooler when doing a turbo conversion? Very interesting, I'm looking on doing one of these after I've restored my bus (putting a Jake Raby motor in it)

  • Hey Mate the intercooler was behind the fan housing in a pod fed by cold air pipes which drew the cold air through a polycarbonate side window. I'll try and find some pics for ya!

  • @SHEDDY1641 Think I'm gonna try an air/water cooler in my 1776. Heard that they're more consistent and efficient plus you can run a cooled turbo. Nice bug can't wait to see what it can do.

  • @BigEsGarage

Didn't know they had VW's back then. LOL

  • @XxnegociatorxX What?....Oh 1776? Dude its nuts. I'm driften on wooden wheels bro. Got a rag top to.

  • @cicatricesdt Could even look at a RS liberty W2a IC.

  • the ol' bugs run very well, I like it, I saw before a 57/2 running and making drifting like a real awd...

  • my bug handles nice on curves but drifting is really hard to heavy in the back, not enough power, and oil goes to on side of the engine only so i wouldnt drift my bug to often

  • That is why narrowing beams is the single worst handling decision you can make.

  • Its like Hitler's little getaway, shiet boyz pedal to teh medal!

  • hahahaha... very good!!!!

  • with an engine over those back wheels? Good luck trying to drift it, not to say it's not possible just saying it'll be very hard. Most cars need traction control because of shitty design. These cars come glued to the ground.

  • Nice car man!

  • cccc pllaaattteee

  • to the comet rednoseroxy sent btw it only takes 4k with good par'st wiseco; pauler scat;ect..to make 200hp thats with proff build where i live lol so not that much.also think of cost to power ratio 200 horse in a bug gets you 12sec or less maby depending on trans and driver but to get my 2006 mustang gt to run 12s or lower take 15 grand lol there fun and cheap to have fun with :) ill have to put some vidoes up for the dub peeps :)

  • I don't get it... Have you seen what $2000 does to a bug? Plenty of fast bugs out there.

  • Too true. $2k into the engine would net you 170hp, pretty easily. Pushing a 1,600lb Bug, you'd kill a number of modern "sports" cars at the drags.

  • what engine do you have to start with? can I have a link?

  • Where do you guys come up with this crap?... and do you believe anything you hear... call up an engine builder... they'll have 10k wrapped up into any of their motors even close to 200hp... and thats just in parts, nevermind labor. You're a straight fool.

  • what engine components would you need to upgrade to be gettin that horsepower

and if you could you give companies that make them

im new to the bug world haha

  • There's three big companies for air-cooled Vee-dubs: EMPI, Scat, and Bugpack. Countless distributors for 'em, as well - just Google for 'air cooled VW performance'. EMPI is by far the least expensive of the three and I've had no quality issues with 'em.

Components? Pretty much everything. Send a note my way and I'll give you a few resources and a general idea of what to expect.

  • who sells the better dual weber carbs

  • Any of 'em - the Weber carb sets are manufactured by either Weber or Pierce Manifolds and distributed through different retailers.

I'd check out Chirco -dot- com for the best prices. Also, EMPI has their own brand (copies) of the Weber kits, but cost much less. All the parts are the same - they just don't say "Weber" on them. Again, never had an issue with their stuff.

  • empi is not the same - it's poorly assembled which can have a dramatic effect, check out carburetorclinic, com

  • Hit or miss. I've not had an issue with their ICT knockoffs whatsoever (been running them for about a year now). Same for the crankshafts.

Their other stuff... yeah, I'll generally agree.

  • I know what 2k wont do... it wont do jack! 2g's will barely buy you a stock long block. You can spend 5k all day long and not come close to having a 150hp daily driver.... want 150 to 180hp daily driven with just oil changes and valve adjustments?... try about 8 grand... then you've got the transaxle to build. 2grand isn't even a drop in the bucket Pal.

  • @wheelmanvw repairs the rust but then you gotta paint the fucker then get it running.

  • I don't think drifting will help you corner faster there. But man, so fun. Dope beetle man!

  • sweet throaty engine + dynamic handling

  • I looks like a loxley lozenge to me!

  • It has to be hard to drift a bug. lol I dunno, I've never driven one.

  • no its not short wheel base and power over the rear wheels

  • yea its rwd and short wheel base but......rear engined lol all the weight is over the back, brilliant handling as weight distribution is ace but to try and drift one something completely different haha

  • plus it sounds like a beefed up stock motor, unlike newer motors today.

  • all right, i have a 73' super beetle, i need some easy mods to the body, interior, and motor... any suggestions?

  • dud wot engine u running?

  • I am aware that this is not a drift and that it was a tongue in Cheek comment however I do not really care as it has had over 80.000 hits haha

  • Drift???

I can do that in my 205 with a handbrake :p

other than that nifty looking Bug.

  • great fun. i used 2 get the arse out on my old vdub on roundabouts. miss it now.

  • and where is the drift?

  • i have the exact same paint job on my bug;)

  • sweet my corvair couldnt do that it also has thicker tires

  • nice when it rains i like to toss around my 71 vw bus

  • hellza hard to drift in a bug... weights all in the rear.

  • you'd be surprised... you just need to fling it into a corner hard enough. I've had my Ghia loose a couple of times...

  • actually, its only harder to initiate a drift through weight transfer/inertia. if you lock your ebrake you will have a hard time keeping it from spinning out because of the weight distribution.

  • Is a 1969 1500. It has had various styles in its life previously a german looker thus the elephant foot rear lights which i will change back to tomb stones. Has extended stand offs to clear turbo and 4@ chopped front beam the rest is as normal

  • what year bug is that? any thing done to the body?

  • A little bit too much bite on the way out but good cuz its hard to drify in a bug

  • I have the exact same paint job, the same lack of bumper, the same decklid standoff kit and the same front turn signals. Freaky!

  • ¬¬ ... nice

  • I'm scary

  • nice

a littlebit of sand will help some :-)

  • wahoo rude boy give it sum

    nice 1
