  • Does anyone else think this sounds like Bob Marley's 'No Woman, No Cry'?

  • @99records that's because is a similar chord progression. Most contemporary music uses very simple progressions like this.

  • Does anyone else think this sounds like Bob Marley's 'No Woman, No Cry'?

  • 11 People don't have love to hold them together. Pray for them!!

  • @TheFrenchayy I'm hoping they're just thumbing down because it's a Youtube music video. This song is impossible to not love.

  • "To be steeped in history is to cease to be Protestant" -Blessed Cardinal Newman, a convert to the Catholic Church after reading the early church Fathers.

I must warn any protestants who read the writings from the early Church. You may find the early church looked a lot different than you imagined.

  • @lts1337 Yeah, last night was really nice; glad I went

  • I saw this guy live yesterday at the Rock and Worship Roadshow

  • Even in the dark, you can still see the light, gonna be all right <3 :)

  • good song..

  • I'm not sure whether I've already commented on this video, but just listened to this wonderful song again + loved it ^_^ I love all the comments too. I'm not religious, but it's nice seeing people with faith.

It's things like this when I see some positive aspects to religion, not the negatives.

  • not to incite anymore debate but the term christian encompasses all those who are catholic, protestant and mormon..... just saying. they are all just branches and ways of thinking and worshipping. neither are right or wrong and who are we to say which way is correct?

  • @kmzin1234 If you are going to define "Christian" as anyone who has some sort of belief in Christ, regardless of WHAT they believe about Him, that is your definition. I believe if you read the new testament, even just the 4 gospels, you'll see the New testament is very clear about who Jesus said He was and what is required for salvation. I don't think it is hidden or vague or easily interpreted many ways.

  • @starshine428 We must remember that is not simply us following the non-sinful life that gets us to the Father, but also is mercy and grace. To be saved is enough. But there will be those who proclaim Christianity as their own, which will not be the case. Only the Father can tell who is truly a believer. Now, those who try their hardest to live a devout Christian life will have rewards in Heaven, unlike those who simply have found salvation through Christ.

  • But it is simply loving God, spending time with God and in turn starting to look more like Him, think like Him, and act more like Him that gets us to that point. Try as we might we can't change ourselves, we must allow God to change us.

  • @Theoffbeatone I completely agree with you and know several people who will, sadly, be very surprised when they step into eternity to meet the God they were sure they knew. I have tried to present the gospel clearly and without offense, but ultimately it is every individual's choice. As for saved but no rewards, I am sad to say that my husband will likely be one of those, but at least I know where he'll spend eternity. As for myself, I keep trying to be a better servant but have so far to go.

  • Jesus loves You! Always!!!

  • Love this song it's in my top 5 fav songs

  • Loveeeee this song (:

  • @jetturkbeastmode14 How sweet that you love your little brother just as he is. I have a great-nephew who is autistic and there is such a sweet innocence about him even at age 12 that I don't think he'll ever lose.

  • This past weekend I went on a retreat with my brother. It happened to be his first retreat and he never really gets into church and NEVER sings. During the retreat, we played this song and everyone got into a big circle to sing it. When I looked over at him, he was singing along to the song! Godreached out to him through this song <3

  • @xxtehsofaxx DUDE! that's so AWESOME!!! Oh My Goodness, retreats can really change your life and open your heart to God! Its incredible!!! I pray you and your brothers' relationship with the Lord strengthen and endure forever :) - thanks for the testimony

  • Matt, thanks for a great song! It has kept me going on so many occasions...We truly do not live on bread alone.

  • This songs seems like it comes at the end of a movie when everything works out right. I LOVE IT!!!!

  • @seblikestoparty SOO TRUE LOL

  • This song always reminds me of my dog. It was the first song I heard after his death. It has so much truth to it. There was still light, even when he died. That day was the first of his afterlife, and the first of my life without him. He was like a brother to me, am I'm his keeper now. I hold his favorite stuffed animal close to my heart every night. I really miss him. :(

  • I love this song, I have heard it countless times since May of 2010 when where it was played on my graduation video at mass. By the time it was over we were all in tears, but still smiling, beacuse we knew that even if we took diffrent paths in life, Love would hold us together...

  • I know everyone has different tastes bu can someone recommend me some songs?

FYI, I like this song, third day - revelations, lady antbellum - need you know, matthew west - all the broken pieces, and tobymac - city on our knees.

    Thank you and God Bless!

  • jesus christ is amazing

  • I love Jesus. He is so very patient and kind. The forgiveness is absolutely unreal. Jesus is my strength....without him, I would be nothing.

  • For anyone who may be searching for a biblical understanding of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel.

  • "There are not more than 100 people in the world who truly hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they perceive to be the Catholic Church."

    Fulton J. Sheen

  • @ApacheCrusader i love this. ♥

  • @ApacheCrusader And millions more who don't know what the Roman Catholic Church actually teaches.

  • @ApacheCrusader So the millions of people the catholic church has displaced, killed, or stolen from don't count?

  • To Matt Mahr, every time I hear this song it lifts me "up". God will bless you man.

  • Amen brother!

  • Mama: Were r u going?

Me: Going to beat up 9 dingbats that dont like a good song.

    Mama: R u going alone?

Me: No. I have 1,238 people to help me.

Mama: Oh. Take my shotgun. its in my closet.

  • Well everyone has their own taste in music..maybe it's just not their type. I know I don't like EVERY Christian song out there. No big dealllll. Let it fly :)

  • Some jerks have no life - that's why they went 'dislike' such touching song. God will not parish them for they have no mercy toward Him. God does not need people who are selfish and are jerks.

  • @1AppleMaker i think it doesn't matter if people dislike the song. if you think they are selfish jerks maybe you need to take a look at yourself for once.

  • I find it amusing that this incredible song would spark a discussion on what religion or religious beliefs are right or wrong. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE has a place at the banquet table. Stop all this nonsense and understand that Jesus died for our sins - listen to the words of this song - "I'll be my brother's keeper so the whole world will know that we're not alone..." Everyone needs to love each other unconditionally -only then will poverty and injustice end. Love one another...

  • As far as knowing if you are saved...it is not a guessing game or some how by chance that you will be....it is certain, & final that if Christ has chosen you and saved you you will live with him forever in eternity. Christ's finished work on the cross is unchangedable and irrevocable. So, if you don't have true peace in your heart about this than find someone who truly and utterly loves Jesus Christ and talk to them about, get help to find the answers...........before it's too late

  • Here is the bottom line folks....it is not about religion or practicing a set of rituals to make ourselves appear better on the outside so that somehow at the end of our lives we'll be good enough to make it to Heaven.....NO...it is about relationship...with the one and only living God. bible Christ and him crucified should be all in all and at the center of all you do.

  • Remember who the head of the church is , not a glorified man , but Jesus Christ ,

  • Don't start with me Steve , I took ethics and apologetics about defending our faith from other religions who claim to be better ,

  • @TheFedex710 TheFedex710...not sure how to respond to you Fedex. Didn't mean to "raise your hackles" so to speak. We're all looking for Jesus in our own way, and no, my path isn't the same as yours. The bottom line is that we must be ready for His return....regardless of what sign hangs over our church door. Please forgive the over-enthusiasm of a new convert. Catholic, Methodist, whatever....we must be ready....that is ALL that counts. Peace to you all and a final Merry Christmas to you.

  • matt is amazing along with a new worship band called Red Letter Hymnal. Red Letter Hymnal’s got some incredibly catchy songs on youtube, and itunes too

  • Steve there is much love in bars too , also Catholics have always tried to hide the truth about Christianity ,

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFedex710 Well I'm not sure about bars....I don't go to those... but there isn't so much love or grace in your postings. I'm sorry you feel that way. Peace to you brother, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  • I have , idiotic thinking , on denominational churches are much better ,

  • Final post. Please take a look into the Catholic Church, if you haven't already. There is much love there and soundness of doctrine - doctrine established by Christ Himself. No it's not a perfect church, not by a long-shot. "Johan" is correct about that. But if you let it, the original Church can pull you closer to Him....and that's what counts. Go to Mass this Christmas, even if only to a Midnight Mass (Christmas Eve)... always a beautiful service..you won't regret it. Peace and bye.

  • "There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church—which is, of course, quite a different thing. - Bishop Fulton Sheen.

  • Jesus...thank for coming to us and showing us what we need to know and do, to get through this life in a righteous way. God bless any one who comes to the Father through you; because that is what scriptures say. Waiting for the day that you return to reclaim all that is yours. Praise you!

  • True, the fact that this artist is Catholic doesn't bear on the importance of his message. It's just that, as Catholics, it's nice (for a change) to see an artist of our "persuasion" ;-) We don't seem to have many musicians among us. Peace to you all, and Merry Christmas!

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing. Proud Catholic :)

How does anyone know that they are authentically saved, except God? It sounds like the pharisee in the parable about the pharisee and the tax collector.

  • @katycat1 You're right. No one knows. None of us. Catholics don't use the term "saved" because it (IMO) implies certainty. We do the best we can, till the end of the road and try to remain faithful to the end. No certainty. Period.

  • Comment removed

  • @katycat1 Assurance of salvation verses: 1 John 5:13; Romans 3:24; Romans 10:9. We're saved by what God did for us, not by what we can do for God. Of course God wants us to do good, but salvation is a free gift...not earned. (Ephesians 2:8) Also, here are some verses that point at predestination: John 10:25-28; Ephesians 1:4-5; Romans 8:28-30; Romans 9:21-23; John 15:16; John 17:9.

  • Acts 10:43...All the prophets testify about Him (Jesus) that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”

We can confess our sins to one another, as a way of keeping eachother accountable for our actions; we are a support system. But only God can provide forgiveness; through Jesus only. No priest can provide forgiveness a single sin, a priest has NO power through God. Only one Savior...Jesus!!! Can't wait until he reclaims all this is his! Glory will come!

  • @msljyoung What about at the end of the book of John when Jesus gives the apostles the power to forgive sins? Isn't that clear proof you're not just saved by knowing Jesus' name? What that passage is referring to is Baptism, I'm afraid.

  • @msljyoung You're absolutely right. Many times when I go to confession, the priest says, "You understand that I can't forgive anything....only God can."

Every Catholic knows this....who are you trying to convince?

  • @hikercpa71 ...I am only trying to teach anyone who doesn't understand. I do know people like that, even in my own family. I only hope that they cry out to Jesus at their moment of departure from this dark world. I don't need to convince people who already understand. My comment was not necessarily meant for Catholics; just those who don't understand. Bless Hikercpa71...we agree with eachother. :)

  • @msljyoung Bless you too my friend. There are forces out there against all Christians. We must stay united in Him. You are a great representative of Christ, and God has filled you with grace. Peace to you always.

  • So what if this artist is Catholic. It shouldn't be about religion but about RELATIONSHIP with the One true God; Our Lord and Savoior, Jesus. If we would focus on what connects us instead of using it to separate us the Church (Body of Christ) would be more effective at spreading the Good News.

I am a Born again Christian of 9 years who grew up in the Catholic church.

  • @Trebor998 ...me also.I agree. Was brought up in a Catholic church. Saw no genuine love for people (in the church I was attending). As a young teen, I asked God to show me who he was because I was depressed by this world. I attempted to take my own life, and he came and said "don't do it " ! God does speak if we are really listening. Five years after that, he brought me to Jesus!I brought my mom to church, and she got saved! God saved my life at age 16. I am now 49. Praise our heavenly Father!

  • @msljyoung Tried to post this earlier...don't think it worked. I'm sorry your experience in the Church was negative. My particular parish is very loving, both of each other and of God. I am also 49 and entered the Catholic Church 3 yrs ago. Have never regretted it, and I feel that it draws me closer to Him each day. Many blessings to you this Christmas. You are in my prayers today.

  • @Trebor998 If we truly follow Jesus (whether Catholic or protestant), then we're "born again". I rejoice for your choice if it brings you closer to Him.

  • it doesnt matter if he was catholic or a christian. GOD LOVES US! he has love for everyone. :) He is our God, and our Saviour.

  • @loganfeger2 Amen brother. I'll agree with that wholeheartedly!

  • hey, hey, we all love Christ, isn't that what matters most?

  • @drunkcoffeemilk You are totally right

  • @drunkcoffeemilk We love christ because he who was without sin became sin so that we may have eternal life, I'm not sure everyone meditates on that enough, I love my catholic friends and have no intention of offending, I will though stand firm with what God has spoken, “NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5). Yet people rebel against this and do good works to be saved.

  • @squib5656 Yes, this is true, i just can't stand to see so much fighting betewwn people who all love God, it breaks my heart. I agree that standing firm in our beliefs are important, but it is also importand not to fight, but to stand as one in the Body of Christ. If someone is straying off the path, we go get them, but we do so in a bit more gentle manner than to argue.

  • Also, dont say catholics have more spirituality, by spirituality you mean rules and attend mass to confess to a priest. What did Jesus do again for us? oh yea, He died on the cross for us, tearing the curtain between us and God allowing us to have a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, His deaths allows us that. Let go of religion and cling to Jesus.

  • @neffmd2 Sorry. The Church that Jesus set in motion brings me closer to Him every day, and there's nothing you can do to change that. "Let go of religion and cling to Jesus." Jesus IS the reason for religion in the first place. Again, your comments demonstrate ignorance.

  • im sorry...DONT say this song makes you glad to be catholic. Catholism is wrong. Jesus Christ is right.

  • @neffmd2 Matt Maher is Catholic.

  • @neffmd2 I'm sorry you feel that way. Maybe you should do a bit of reading.

You might feel differently. I'll pray to Jesus for you to open your heart.
