  • Before Prince sang it, I didn't know this song...call me ignorant.

  • LOVE THIS ONE ITS VERY TRUE WORDS SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE BEST SONG OF THERE CAREER

  • Why can't they make music like this that has soul, symbolism, meaning TODAY instead of mindless dreck & ear candy ?

  • I AM EVERYDAY PEOPLE! Great shit!

  • Last week I heard one of my all time favs. I thought it was called: Lies, Lies....tell it like

is....it starts out like a circus tune.....BAAABABABAAAHHHHHDADONDADUNDUNDUNDUN DUH...then the band

    kicks in. OK...I don't know the name of the tune...that's where U come in. W H A T

  • @RnRanimal this one will never die for sure

  • so much soul!

  • I heard this on "the voice" and now I can't stop listening to it!

  • Loved it then, love it now. Who is the one person who doesn't like this song and why in the world not?

  • Loved it then, love it now. <3

  • This song Reminds me of early 70's Ford Mavericks!! ahh to be back in the 70's

  • Your video of this song is the best on YouTube!

  • @Lengo67 thanks I'll try to post another one of their songs if if don't get blocked

  • @Lengo67 RIGHT ON,, SOUNDS THE BEST. LOVE THIS SONG. Not so much the wording,,the beat and THE SONG. Sly was a genius that fell of the edge. Sold his music catalogue to Michael Jackson & Sony Music

  • If only David Cameron, and his gang of spiteful upper class idiots, would adopt the message in this song.

  • I played this 77,776 times and you don't like it fuck you

  • cool song timeless gem :)

  • i really didnt like this video but hope others think da same lol

  • OOOOOOOOOO yeah :)

  • Leon Sly is my kindof people and I love him.

  • I HAVE EVERYTHING PEOPLE .......

  • Ever notice that the bass player plays ONE note for this ENTIRE song! I remember when this song came out and I heard it a thousand times and didn't notice that. Tommy Shannon, professional bass player, mentioned it in one of his "Hot Licks" video lessons. Thanks Tommy !!

  • luv, luv, LUV THIS SONG! message it conveys is universal! no relations at all but the somehow the lyrics remind me alot of BEP's where is the love.

  • different strokes for different folks...scooby dooby doo got that right;)...we all gotta live together...so have a care, love me or hate me..talk with respect to one other! jillypeace~

  • Listen to the first four lines. No one talks like that anymore. Remarkable song.

  • @Exilemainstreet no not many fesses up to being wrong for sure

  • @Exilemainstreet yes. the PEOPLE know how to get along. we don't need no education.

  • Well done Sly & The Family !

  • If u can't move to this, u aint wired up right.

  • @KAKAKUONA11 right on brother

  • @KAKAKUONA11..... Well said !

  • brilliant!!!

  • Still think almost nobody understands this song. It's about humility, about accepting that my ideas--even my ideas about racism--are polemical, are opinion, are no better than anyone else's. And despite the fact that there are such insidious problems in society, I need nonetheless to love everyday people.

  • MY OWN BELIEFS ARE IN MY SONG!!! YEAH I LOVE THIS SONG SOOOOOO MUCH!!! SO GROOVY!!

  • @barbj7121 they don't make em like that anymore

  • @weluvmusick what is sly doing now? is he married with a family?, i think he was high then!

  • Leon Sly reminds me so much of what I remember when I was growing up. He was the better part of it. We need more like him!

  • Yesterday I heard this song but with a Hip Hop twist, does n e one know what it is called?

  • There is a red one who doesn't like the blue one...

  • ...who won't accept the green one for being such a young one who doesn't like the fat one for being such a rich one...

  • cool music!!!

  • best song ever. We're singing it in choir :D

  • This song speaks to everyone and it is a masterpiece

  • TRUE THAT

  • I'm a Hippie so this song is right up my alley! LOL ..........

    ~Hippie Niecey~

  • I feel ya

  • Now that's the attitude dude

  • this was a great song-this song came out around my 1st year in high school around 1970

  • Wish this song wasn't so short.

  • short and sweet

  • ALL TIME BEST GROUP ......

  • without a doubt

  • God what a feeling! thx,,,

  • I feel you

  • great song.

  • Thanks for putting this song up. Great classic that speaks to societies struggles. Same ol' same ol' stuff that goes on forever in every city, town and country and between the different people.

  • This song came out in '69, not '70. It went straight to #1 on the Billboard charts.

  • Love this song!!! I wish I could do a poll of who had the best threads....Sly or Jimi Hendrix....

  • very few songs deserve to be called truly great. this is one

  • Long past are the days where music carried an appreciable, important message. There are few bands left that write such inspirational and meaningful music (there are definitely some, like Dave Matthews Band, and some others, just not many). I'm 16, myself, and I sorely wish all music was still like this. At least we can still enjoy it, and spread the ideas ourselves.

Cheers to y'all from New York.

  • dave F-ing matthews should not be mententioned on same day as sly are you faimiler w/ what his tour bus did in chiicago thats his important message, glad you like sly though!

  • sure you're right

  • ...First off, I am familiar with the whole tour bus thing. Yeah, it was a jackass thing to do. I personally don't think ti was the decision of Dave or any member of the band, rather the driver of the bus. But either way, it's completely irrelevant. Their music calls for tolerance, accountability, love, peace...all they do is ask for the world to be better, and make millions of dollars in contributions to make it such.

If you can't appreciate that, I'm not sure how you like Sly.

    Cheers.

  • scottwiliams56 - you need to check your facts before you condemn someone. The DRIVER of the bus pleaded guilty - it was nothing to do with Dave Mathews or any of the band. Just because they hired him doesn't mean they can be there to hold his hand and watch him for 24 hours a day. He is an adult and chose to be an idiot.

  • you misunderstand me that was the coolest thing dave ever did sure beats his music

  • I feel you

  • C()()L

  • @simplecreativity listen to the gaslight anthem.

  • again! good feeling

  • You do realize that there are white people in this band? You are one of the ones this song was directly aimed at

  • i love this song i heard from the movie definitley maybe. can you tell me where i can download this plsssssssssssss

  • I'm not much into downloading most of my stuff comes from my own cds or LPs

  • sigh, i miss the good old days when music was... musical

well, i'm 16, so i wasn't really around for the good old days, but you get the picture

  • This song is real easy to play on the piano too

  • god what a feeling! ta S and the F eko!

  • Kids 2day just dont know what they are missing out on listening to that junk on radio 2day...

  • Junk is not the word for some of today's music, thanks for your comments

  • Amen, I love youtube because it's so easy to bring back that good old feeling. Though i'm only 23 my parents are old school and grew up on this great music therefore I always respected and jammed to it.

  • Hey that's great it's always good to hear of young people enjoying the old school music, thanks for your comments

  • I am a kid today,, and let me tell you, while I LOVE the music today,, it DOES NOT have the feeling as music like this.. i LOVE this song, the feeling,, man I was born late HAHA!!

  • Well the content of most of today's music is controlled by the industry itself back then the artist composed what they felt inside as opposed to what will only make a buck .but hey thanks for the comments

  • well said my man. they just dont write songs like they used to. it seems to be all monetary based instead of artistic. when was a gem like hotel california put out by a big label? people gotta use the internet today to get out their own art and hope it gets discovered more than the 'dramatic hamster'. thanks fror sharing

    peace

  • Thanks 4 posting this. It helped me get through my homework because I was jamming out.

  • Hey that's great keep getting through that homework glad we were able to help ,thanks for your comments

  • This song is just amazing. It always give me into spirits. Love it! I can´t believe that 1 year ago I listened to the HIP HOP. Now I can´t believe that I was able to listen some shitty something (it´ s not music)... This is music. Thank you! :)

  • What a revolutionary!
