  • @TheRocketExpress I'm not really interested in learning Chinese. I'm prepared to just go with my instincts and trust my own judgement based on what I see. Had I been the referee at the time I would have warned him and reported it. I'm not sure I agree with your statement about discipline and fines though.

  • @TheRocketExpress I base my mates statement on the previous interactions I have seen between the two.

  • @scottiec75

    ...........

if you learn chinese, you might want to visit ding's blog on sina(dot)com. they are not mates by any stretch of the imagination.

  • It's actually in the rules about only being able to concede when you are the striker. That aside i don't think it was really that big an issue Ding wasn't on any kind of high break and it was clearly lighthearted fun between a couple of mates. Ding's reaction was good and the pat on the back by Selby afterwards showed there is definitely a level of respect there.

  • @scottiec75

...and what evidence is there that ding is 'mates' with selby?

please don't superimpose your own views on this matter just because it suits your thinking. maybe ding was very pissed off but didn't say so.

...but in reality, that doesn't matter - as you say, its in the rules that you can only concede when you are the striker so selby was in clear violation of the rules. those are the facts, not my spin.

  • To be honest, I don't like Mark Selby, cause he always play negatively when he is losing. But at the end of the day, I do still respect him. It's just kind of tactics.

BUT AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I SIMPLY HATE HIM!

HE GAVE NO RESPECT TO OTHERS AND SO HE DESERVES NO RESPECT

  • Oh get off your high horse Rocket. Do I remind you about Ronnie's behaviour in the past? Your bashing is nothing less than childish.

  • @GamlaSonn

#1 this clip is about mark selby, not ronnie o'sullivan

#2 have i ever stated ronnie is a model of perfection. no, i have not. however, having said that he has not done anything that is unsportsmanlike or similar to this

#3 if you don't like to watch these clips about selby, don't - but don't ever use derogatory terms to describe me again - you will be banned permanently

  • @TheRocketExpress

#1 just putting things in perspective

#2 don't you think conceding a match in the UK championship is _at least_ as unsportsmanlike as conceding a frame when it's already over?

#3 never stated I didn't like your videos, merely raising my opinion on your relentless degrating behaviour against a player of the game. I'm not a Selby fanboy, but I find it unecessary and tiresome as you put more effort into bashing his name rather than highlighting the games themselves.

  • @GamlaSonn

#1 if you wish to discuss, then discuss mark selby's behavior not ronnie's

#2 ronnie was not disrespectful to hendry - hendry said in his post match interview, ronnie went over to him shook his hand and said "congratulations and good luck". not that i condone this behavior as its bad for the spectators but the main point is he was not engaging in unsportsmanlike behavior or being a sore loser. now chucking a towel at your opponent while he is still at the table is another matter

  • @GamlaSonn

    (cont'd)

that's plain rude and unsportsmanlike and technically it is also a foul - the referee should have called it as such and warned selby for disrupting his opponent.

#3 if you have different views about selby that's fine - i feel very strongly about players who engage in unsportsmanlike behavior and drag down the sport. after all, snooker is a gentleman's game. however, please don't use derogatory terms such as 'childish'

  • @GamlaSonn Childish is to comment on the subject when you clearly are not aware that this situation is one of many that envolve poor sportmanship from Mark Selby, and there are few in the world snooker championship when he played John Higgins and recently Steven Hendry in the 2nd round that are a way bigger than the 2006 UK situation, that in a fact its not a case of poor sportmanship.

  • Since this is the Ronnie channel, let's be fair here. I don't like Selby, but Ronnie isn't an angel either. I remember him conceding an entire match out of frustration, or missing balls on purpose because his opponent refused to give up the clearly lost frame.

  • @TreuloseTomate

ronnie conceding a match out of frustration is not unsportsmanlike behavior towards his opponent. if anything it affects him more than his opponent. it is not the same as throwing a towel at your opponent while he is at the table ok

finally, this clip is about selby not ronnie. if you want to talk about ronnie's behavior, make your own clip or go post in a relevant video

  • no respect to Ding and definitely no sportsmanship

  • People face it as a joke and funny stuff , but I have seen it all, its not always like that.

  • So arrogant !
