@dalcde you could not combine those two terms because they are unlike terms. it would be like saying 4x+4y=8y You can't just throw x out the window and its the same with this, you can't just throw cos out the window. However, if it were (sinx^2)+(cosx^2), you could simplify this to 1 because it is an identity.
2sinθcosθ=sin2θ
It's one of the double angle formula.
