  • What kind of a sick SOB wouldn't like this.

  • This band. Life made.

  • I like the tone he gets by strumming closer to the bridge of the guitar.

  • Oh god Ben. This is why I love Death Cab.

  • oh I wish there was an acoustic project including Ben Gibbard and Dallas Green. Guess this would be fucking great. thx for uploading

  • it's a fuckin' gibson j45.

  • @catseatingclouds Cheers.

  • Does anyone know what kind of guitar that is? I'm looking at getting an acoustic/electric and the DCfC website only has his new gear :\

  • too the three dislikes on this video you don't know music

  • idk why, but i think this is better than the original

  • he strums way back near the bridge. wonder y that is? he is a huge inspiration for musicians like myself

  • @brandonstricker18 its to get a more treble sound rather than a basssound.

  • @zippetydoo4 aaa i see that makes sens ha thanks = P

  • ill start of by giving some words to the youtube community, to keep by there side... "if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all." and if you dont understand why bens music genius, then youre missing out on what music actually is and should be.

  • he kinda looks like dwight schrute hahaha

  • Ben Gibbard is one of my favorite lyricists. I bet if he wrote a book, it would be nothing short of brilliant.

  • i dont like how he strums so close to the bridge all the time, but i like the song so much.

  • @myenergytrade hes stumming close to the bridge so that he can rest his hand on it to play the riffs in the song, its a much easier way to play guitar if your combining lead & rythmn

  • i love that song!!!

  • i wish he would go on a solo tour again :(

  • i think i probably will thiss may :)

  • anybody know the chords and tuning he's using here?

  • Check out the cover by ScottCovers (it's a video response), send him a private message and he'll send you the tabs. It's quite accurate. Hope that helps.

  • yea, magictruitt, your right.. i was trying to play the chords of ultimate-guitar with what he was playing of the finerpicking part.. i learned it in like 20 minutes but it would have been nice to read your comment before i tried to figure things out lol

  • excellent =]

  • just awesome Ben is the best!!

  • Sounds like it's in drop D.

  • The video response I just chucked up is very close to what he's playing, if you want a tab, just message me and I'll send you it. Also please go over and watch the video. P.S. Ben Gibbard is amazing!

  • Too bad there are no official tabs.

  • it's actually pretty easy to find out. he's playing C, Am, and Em. He uses percusive finger picking like he uses in most of his acoutic tunes. some of the other little riffs are easy to figure out in like 15 minutes if you really spend time.

  • just a gibson J45 ....

  • haha

    'just' a gibson j-45. hahaha,

    nice

  • does anyone know what acoustic guitar he uses?

  • his songs are so simplistic, its amazing that something so non complex can sound so complex.

  • i want to have that kind of a voice

  • GOD I LOVE BEN

  • FUCK i love ben gibbard. fascinating fella. wish i could play like he does!

  • I love the riffs at the beginning and end.

  • helllll yeah

  • i love ben and death cab they are so great!! and actually they sound much better when they play live

    they are just awesome!! =)

  • this sounds absolutely amazing. i love you, ben gibbard <3 his music=love

  • just had to say it.

  • this song rules

  • sick version anyone know the chords for this i know during the chorus hes playing the same g chord form on the 3 5 7 fret that he plays in cath for 3 5

  • Its CMaj7 (3-3-2-0-0-0) Then C6Maj7(3-0-3-0-0-0) into Em and he does the riff on the Em that's 0 on the D, 2-3-2-0 on the A, then 3 on the E. The and Chorus is a G with an added D on the Bstring(3rd fret) then move that whole thing up two frets for an A, then three frets for a C.

  • @jkonu2 lilwayne, slowly murdering rap

  • @jkonu2 thank u thnk u wow there is ppl that like good music..ps i like rap..i get it phat beats quick fluid lyrics it sounds good..but what lil wayne does doesnt make sense..he doesnt speak engilsh or eve lol ebonics PLUS he actually has talent..but he is a piece of shit

  • @apujolsfan11 no, not one. THE best musician, my friend ;)

  • this is awesome id love to see this live i think it would just complete me haha

  • what a great musician and singer

  • his voice is so unique.. AMAZING

  • I dig the different chords he lays down underneath the melody.

  • What?

  • nah i disagree, I play guitar, and the riff just sounds incomplete to sing along to. The chords are much better for a solo performance

  • the melody isnt hard to play and sing for me,... so i'm sure the creator Gibbard would have No problem with it, the way he plays it just creates a better soundsphere than playing just the melody :)

  • actually, he's playing the chords from the original version of "title and registration". look it up. its a b-side from the title and registration CD single.

  • BEN GIBBARD IS SO AWESOME!

    :D

  • fuck!

i wish i was ben gibbard!!

  • Be yourself damn it. These musicians are just people with talent. Just be yourself with your own talent.

  • I wish I was as talented as Ben Gibbard.

  • I wish I was as ballsy as Ben Gibbard.

  • what a man he is

  • its a J-45 standard. I have one, great guitar.

  • He is brilliant!

  • amazing <3

  • great. great. great.

  • Anyone have the tabs to this version?

  • It's a Gibson J-45 Modern Classic

    BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY:

I love Ben's acoustic take on his songs, he gives them a whole new life.

  • Amazing singer 10/10

  • I love this man.

  • THIS IS THE DEFINITIVE COMMENT

    1. who cares what type of guitar it is?

    2. it's a Gibson, quite clearly.

    3. cool song

    4. Youtube community sucks.

  • @misterbuckethead haha, the youtube community is awful in every way.

  • omg this version is beautiful what are the chords i really wanna play it like this.

  • i have no idea why your comment got a -6 from these retards. you are exactly right about the music. who fucking cares about the guitar

  • ffs who cares what guitar it is, its the music we're listening to...right?

  • I've got money that says that's a guitar he's playing... :P

  • it says gibason right on it

    look at the stamp

  • wow you people know nothing about guitars, like wakelove said, its a Gibson J-45

  • anybody know where to find good tabs for this song.. like the accoustic version of this song?

  • hes amazing. one question for ppl. it looks to me like he hits a pedal when hes done with the song to put the guitar down. anyone kno what that is? EQ maybe?

  • tuner to mute it

  • He's an amazing lyricist..

  • what an incredible musician.

  • I love him.

  • Have u ever noticed that Ben looks like Rainn Wilson from The Office?

  • Yes!! He also sort of sounds like him when he's just talking. It was kind of freaking me out, since I absolutely love both of them.

  • Is he playing a Gibson? And if so what kind?

  • I actually think thats an Ibanez.

  • that's what i thought. i looked at the guitar and said to myself "i know that shape, its an ibanez"

  • it says gibson right on it...

  • its a gibson J-45.

  • It is a Gibson. It's called a Gibson Song writer

  • ben gibbard is a great musician, love his music and my physics teacher looks exactly like Ben^^

  • So lovely. Death Cab is totally one of my favorite bands. Ben writes really meaningful music.

  • and the postal service o.o

  • its the original version, they went with the other one instead of this. i have this mp3, its nice

  • this makes me happy and sad at the same time. Thanks for posting it. Such an amazing song.

  • best band ever

    best songwriter ever ever ever

  • this song kills me slowly.

    Lovin it...lovin it.

  • woah all the tabs are different than the way he plays it ... =P

  • all the tabs are for the normal way...

this way isnt hard to work out!

  • The chords for this are just C without the top note on the 1st fret of the B string (with capo it'd be the 3rd fret, but you know). Then A minor without that top note on the 1st fret of the B string, then E minor. For the "and all I find" part, play G, but up on the 8th fret, then slide back down to a regular G, then play it at the 5th fret, and finally back to the 8th.

  • thanks man i havent tried it yet but it sounds like you know what you're talkin bout

  • amazing! I love how he plays the main riff.

  • i cant wait to see him this month!

def one of the people id sell a kidney to see

  • ben gibbard is THE man. <3

  • genius!

  • this is SO incredible!!!!

i watched it with my jaw on the floor the whole time! i completely didnt expect him to play it like that!!!

its just boosted him up my Music genius list!

  • if someone tabs this i will love them forever

  • From what i can figure out -- Capo on 2nd Verse: Cmaj7 (x32000) Am (x02210) Em (022000) For the "melody" notes, use your pinky and ring finger to hold down the appropriate frets on the 4, 5, 6th strings. Search around until you find them, they're not too tricky. Just single notes at a time. Chorus: G (320033) Asus 7 (530055) Cadd2 (10 9 0 0 10 10)
  • im not sure about that Am in the verse.. i cant get it to sound right.... everything else seems pretty spot on...

maybe im just a retard, i dnt know!

  • yeah it would be great if someone give us the tabs for this particular way, pleaaaaase. This is awesome!!!

  • do u need the tab for this version?

  • does ANYONE know the accurate tabs of how he plays this song this particular way? any help would be appreciated!

  • yeah i know

  • Yep It would be great if you send it to me. Because this version is awesome, I pretty much know how to play the verse, but not the chorus and the bridge part.

  • aight well the chorus u take the G form and start on lik the 10th fret then slide down to a G then go up to like the 5th fret, and thats the whole chorus just repeat it

and for the bridge i just add my pinky on the third fret of the e string when i get to the Am chord, im not sure about all of the extra stuff he adds in the bridge.

  • Thanks dude, you rock!!! I'm going to work this hard :)

  • awesome! np :]

  • did you happen to record the whole interview? if so that would be great to put up!

  • why does the crowd sound so dead?

  • This was a show that was very intimate. There was only 40 to 50 people there. It was mostly an interview with some songs along the way. It wasn't a typical show that you bought tickets to. So the mood was very different.

  • I was there too. Follow You Into the Dark was amazing. You could hear a pindrop in the theater. Did you record anything else?

  • I Recorded most of the songs. I'll Post "Follow You Into The Dark."

  • Does anyone know the tabs/chords for this?

  • Nice rendition. Did you happen to catch the whole performance? I heard he did a Rilo Kiley cover.

  • I did. I'll post Silver Lining.
