hey quick question. If i have a .wav file of a audio track (my tunes are electronic/techno) is it possible to put this into melodyne and let the program analyse the track, splitting the melody from say, the bassline/ high hats, and rearrange only the melody?
@kamaakazi theoretically, yes. Sorry for the slow response. It can in fact do this, but there will be significant artifacts. Not to mention the copyright issues you will face!
@mikex222 just came across your comment. You probably already know by now since this post is old but just in case... the starting cost for melodyne is about 200$ (for assistant). It's pretty much melodyne for monophonic (single note at a time) sounds.. like a trumpet, violin, vocal.. etc..
the biggest thing you get from the upgrade is ability to analyze whole chords.. like guitar strumming.. =)
i use melodyne assistant on my videos if you want to get an idea of what you can do
When You point the middle of any 'note' and holding down while scrolling laft and right is something like a 'variphrase' tool, with the formant position You can scroll up and down too and the 'note' formant and 'phrase' will change at the same time as an X-Y matrix controller (like the Time Trip Pad in a V-Synth)
This poly algoryth is something like an MPx encoder but in a more advanced way.
Im using the Editor demo, lets say I have a double bass playing low C and a violin playing an E high in a high register. So they are quite different tones happening there. Going by all these Melyodyne videos it seems I should be able to move that high note around a bit but if I do that the - space - the violin occupied is now a nasty phasey mess!
I'd love to use a screen recorder. Where can I find one? I guess I could start with Google, eh? Actually, the idea here wasn't to produce an amazing video, but to just show some amazing new techniques. But seriously, thanks for the idea. It's something I may take a look into.
Is there any way to download the beta if I haven't bought an actual product from Melodyne? I would want to use it specifically to identify pitches in songs and create sheet music and/or tablature, and I don't want to buy a product that won't be able to do this to the extent I would like it to.
you can export the results as midi and then use guitar pro to tab it . You need to have purchased something from melodyne to get the beta but thry'll be torrents as soon as it's out.
The deal is, you can't use the Beta without having owned a LICENSE to use the correct Melodyne product. I highly doubt that Celemony, nor any other company would want to reward you with the ability to use their most amazing, groundbreaking product ever, if you'd never bothered to be a customer of theirs in the past. so what I'd recommend, is that you wait until it's publically available, which should be within a month. Then buy it. You'll be able to do what you want to do!
