  • Very cool engine and a nice train. Thumbs up! :)

  • And by the way, i think cockroach is just a loney old man, who doesnt have any family or friends, or a life, and all he has to do is troll the steam video chanels, poor lonley little man.

  • The sounds of a steam locomotive is music to my ears also, when i was a young boy, a sreamer pased just behind my home, it was the highligh of my day, when they took it off in 1959, and put a deisel on, i did not hang around the tracks so

    much any more.

  • i like the part 0:45 to 0:55

  • This is my favorite video of 3751!

  • Man I sure do love steam engines. I would love to feel, ride behind, and see one of these

  • Who owns & operates this loco?

  • @papabugs71 San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society

  • Ain't nothing like 'em!!!!

  • That's the best 6 chime whistle I've ever heard!

  • I just wanna hear about 10 minutes of uninterrupted steam engine power coming through those trucks, moving at top speed across the continental divide. Damn all the hoopla. I just wanna feel that engine. Anybody know where I can get a good video and sound of just the engine and the load?

  • that chug sound is music to my ears. man a machine!

  • Nice steamer, total bore-you consist behind. What class is the 3751? (eg. K4s, G5, K28, GS-4, etc) I see its wheel arrangement is 4-8-4 "Northern". Great camera work!

  • @ecoRfan 3751 is the very first locomotive of Santa Fe's class 3751 Northerns, which consisted of numbers 3751 to 3765.

  • How/where in San sdiego can one buy a ticket to ride a steam train? Too bad we now have continuos rail, lived the old clickety click

  • old amtrak cars ftw

  • awesome catch...these mechanical monsters are the real mean machines....

  • ya know, i wish there was a "flip off" button as well as the thums up/down to rate comments so i can rape that button when ever cockroach2008 posts a comment

    THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE!!

  • I don't call him a COCKroach for nothing you know. He has also been talking crap about the legendary Berkshire Pere Marquette 1225 (my ultimate steam favorite). Youtube, you need to see this, because it doesn't look good on you (refering to the annoying bug (Cockroach2008).

  • 0:45 I honestly could see the look on some people's face on seeing a steam locomotive going 40 mph right by them. "Was that a..? Yep, it sure was a steam train."

  • I have had trouble out of Cockroach2008 on one of my videos of Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum #610. I think he just looks for videos of steam engines so he can post his garbage. I believe I blocked him too.

  • GO, BAY-BEE, GO! There is nothing like steam!

  • If I am correct, they say treating a steam locomotive is like treating a girl, if cockroach 2008 is horrible to steam locomotives, does that mean he's never had a girlfriend?

  • Anyone with a username of "Cockroach" must be a retard, idiot, perhaps both. Anyway, thanks for posting this beautiful video of one of my favorite loco's. That's just SUPER, CHIEF!! pun intended.

  • Loud, dirty, smelly....what wonderful machinery.

  • Too bad theres not more of these around they are an awesome sight!

  • BEAUTIFUL whistle!!!!!

  • Damn, Cockroach was here too? Talk about a Spam-Troll. I've seen him in about 8 different Steam Engine videos.

  • @Scioneer Caught him in one of my TVRM #610 videos of that little 2-8-0 steam engine heading into the tunnel.

  • Man, she is one of the best restored steam locos today! The whistle they have on her now is much better! :)

  • Good heavens! What a BEAUTIFUL machine!!!!

  • @DogRun4 Ditto that! That is SO freaking COOL!!!

  • how could anyone hate steam locmotives???.....thats like saying you hate pie!!!.....Cockroach your a moron...as long as people like us our around...the beauty of steam locomotives are here to stay....

  • Only if we can bring those back and service the line on a regular basis!!!!!! Wonderful! I love it!

  • Now *that's* "heavy metal"! Love the steam sound!

  • Awesome!

  • man, sounds so wonderful w/ the doppler!

  • WTF @ Cockroach2008

Every steam train video you're in the comments, with no purpose other than to rile people up and troll.

Even if what you say is true, about your glorious recycling plans, it's a ridiculous premise, since, even if you scrapped every single steam engine left in the world, that would only amount to a drop in the bucket of the great stream of scrap iron and steel around the world every day. One out of service ship = 50 steam locomotives.

What a loon, go get laid or something.

  • @AntiFederalist1

hell never get laid believe me lol

  • what a sound!

  • remember when it had a 5 chime whistle

  • thank goodness they changed the whistle

  • That was really cool.

  • Me and my dad got our boarding passes and will be riding this weekend!

  • Awesome video! Thumbs up!

  • nice shots & I can't wait for saturday :D

  • @xtremepadrefan What's Saturday?

  • @cmlnrowan 3751 is returning on this saturday to SD & heading up to LA on Sunday

  • @xtremepadrefan Thanks for the info! Hope to get some more video!

  • Gotta love it, and of course they have to have an Amtrak P42DC loco there right behind it.

  • @Guser223 They could do without the Amtrak Locomotive, but I guess that Amtrak is a little paranoid about letting a lone steam engine loose on their line, same with Milw. #261.

  • @TVRM610

A lot of times, they throw in a modern Locomotive to assist with braking.

  • @TVRM610 The diesel is likely just ticking over powering the lights, etc on the coaches and there for insurance like you say.=)

  • @Paraffinmeister The diesel unit provides power to the cars, but more importantly is in on the train because of insurance. BNSF require this for operating on it`s tracks.

  • @shnimmuc Thankyou for that little nugget of information, I didn't know that BNSF required a diesel loco also.

  • awesome video i like it

  • Awesome video.

  • loud train

  • how cool was it going through twon!

  • holy shit can she move!

  • @09jrasner703 Well lts not forget there is an AMTRACK loco hooked to the back of her (not like that had to do with anything!)

  • Beautiful video and bravo on banning Cockroach. He's a troll; basically a person with nothing better to do that to skulk around YouTube and piss off railfans. He's fouled up a SP&S 700 video with his unscrupulous behavior, as well.

How small and bored do you have to be that the only entertainment you get is posting stupid comments on YT? I just don't get it.

  • An absolutely magnificent video

    Thankyou.

  • Love seein them old steamers...

  • i cant believe cockroach2008 said junk steam engines steam engines rule!

  • I have blocked Cockroach2008.

I think this means he cannot post here any longer.

Sorry I didn't figure this out sooner.

  • But if you want me to let him back in for the sake of entertainment, let me know! :)

  • @cmlnr No, please! Never unblock Cockroach2008! He's so mean to the steam lovers, like us!

  • @Dinosorable he's just trolling steam lovers

  • @cmlnr Let him and everyone post. We can laugh at him and his small-mindedness. He probably lovesteam locomotives and is just saying what is practical abouthem. These inefficient, polluting, track stressing engineSHOULD ALL BE SCRAPPED. But so glad for those that have been preserved. I am truely surprised that railraods did not preserve more of their beautiful machines. Worth FAR more than the little money they got in scrap. (One magnificent locomotive was accidentally scrapped.)

  • @cmlnr keep him blocked.

  • Awe, look honey, a hot air balloon. WTF??? A steam engine?!?!?!

  • Steam locomotives are better for the environment in so many ways. You, Cockroach2008, have been told so many lies that you have fact confused with fiction. Steam locomotives can burn many fuels to produce propulsion; coal was plentiful and cheap. Wood was once plentiful and cheap and renewable. Waste grain, for example, is plentiful and cheap and much quicker to renew. The energy to produce raw materials for parts/components need to be factored into the equation too. Steam's better for Earth!

  • Steam locomotives are worth the same as diesels as far as scrap value is concerned. But a running steam locomotive is rare and is worth much more than even the newest diesels which average around $2.2million each. A steam locomotive is safer for the environment and is 100% recyclable when it's service life is over. Diesels are great and the EMD SD45 is my favorite EMD, but steam locomotives are very capable of burning waste fuels, fuels that may be discarded as refuse.

  • @TheSteamLocomotive yeah, just look at what GCRY did to #4960, she burns Waste Vegetable Oil now, so that is indisputable proof that a steam locomotive can burn just about anything, even if it does make the locomotive smell like a French Fry.

  • As long as there are people on this earth steam locomotives will be running. In England Darlington Locomotive Works recently built a brand new steam locomotive named "Tornado". This seems to contradict all that you have predicted. You must understand that the steam locomotive is a better choice for the environment.

  • Cockroach2008 must be a twelve year old kid. A kid who seems to think he/she knows everything, and more than those who actually know locomotives. Anyone with a brain knows that steam locomotives are much, much more sound for the environment than a diesel.

  • You still dogging the steam locomotive? I thought some steam fan had done found you and gave you the beating you so rightfully deserve. The steam locomotive is much better for the environment the diesel locomotive.

  • great vid, liked the whistle.

    5 stars :)

  • HA HA, some one's gonna get alot of coal in their stocking tonight.

    SAVE ALL REMAINING STEAM LOCOMOTIVES!!

    Long live 3751!!

  • HAH HA, you miss numbered her its 3751 not 3571 Dumass ; )

    Save all steam locomotives.

  • Cockroach2008 is aptly named.

  • 4-8-4-8 ?

  • its a 4-8-4, tender does not count

  • sahweet

  • Beautiful locomotive, and indeed flying at the end. I have to say that the Amfleet cars behind her ruin the picture somewhat.

  • Stop feeding the troll.

Steam power ftw. thing was rollin' out at the end there.

  • I would be delighted to cut you apart with a chainsaw. Maybe send whats left of you to a butcher shop and pay him to sell it to you parents. When they eats it I come and shot THATS YOUR SON YOUR EATING. Or maybe I'll burn your leftovers in a steam engines firebox.

  • Cockroach, remember me? I helped try and settle the disputes we had on another 3751 video a yr or two ago. I respect that you have an opinion as you are entitled to one. But would you mind toning down? As you can tell, others are more aggressive and these arguments take the fun away for everyone. Thanks for your cooperation

  • I just hate trying to moderate these types of arguments....It's fine to have an opinion, but I just don't understand your method of posting on every steam video you come across...are you doing it for the reaction from railfans? To me that seems like the only logical reason you would have for posting over and over again...correct me if i am wrong. Also, most of these steam engines happen to be privately funded and cared for so in essence you aren't obligated to pay a cent unless you want to...

  • But one must ask....what about everything assembled? an operating steam engine of that age in that condition would fetch quite some price....It's like the barrett-jackson auto auction. a 1972 hemi cuda convertible (1 of 11 made) once sold for over 2 million dollars....Even when it was found rusting next to a tree the shell sold for $300,000...the scrap cost would have been minimal for an item like that. Wouldn't a rare one of a kind operating steamer logically apply to those principles as well?

  • Did a little research. scrap steel is $0.35-$0.60/Lb. Curb weight of a 1970 hemi cuda is 3900 pounds. 400 give or take is not steel. 3500 x $0.60 is $2100 of scrap metal. That versus a $2,000,000+ auction price? scrap iron = $0.04-$0.20 per pound. SF 3751=478,100 Lbs. This equals $95,620 in scrap. C&O 614, also a 4-8-4 northern was auctioned in the late 90's. Kevin Costner was among the possible buyers. The seller pulled the auction but the price was in the high millions. And scrap is better?

  • okay just ignore my research then

  • and I don't understand the quick cash mentality...Buddy go talk to doc and get some plutonium to get to 1955. Wayyyy more steamers were under the torch back then. You're ideas are more suited for first generation diesel takeover than now when theres mayb 20 steam engines left close to operational status in the entire country...

  • So let me get this straight; in other words you're encouraging vandalism and stealing? The people who own these don't plan on giving them up anytime soon ur not preaching to the choir...and if you truly were the business genius you claim to be you'd understand that being in the auto scrap business is far more profitable for that very reason. A quick buck here and there is the very reason people can't escape the poverty cycle...they can't find permanent cash flow and then bog down evrything else

  • Trying to help those in need is one thing. Telling them to commit felony is another. I completely understand that you may have good intentions. But there are so many more useful and effective ways to do so....

  • to be honest, he can say anything he wants to say, we know that our steam locomotives arent going anywhere anytime soon. So lets not waste our breathes.

  • Your right. Sorry I just got a little carried away haha last week before finals so im kinda stressed

  • it's all good, i know what you mean...

  • @Cockroach2008 Fuck you

  • @Cockroach2008 you can do the same with a deisel locomotive, but steam is a rare peice of history.

  • @david245611 Well, at least people now make live steam locomotives. But Cockroach2008 is such an idiot to be making fun of us steam lovers all because we love steam locomotives. It's a good thing people are doing the same thing to him. Steam locomotives are awesome and he can't change what we thing about them. There's millions of us and one of him.

  • @Cockroach2008 Asshole

  • @Cockroach2008 It's called the "TOURIST INDUSTRY", people pay a lot of money just to ride behind a steam locomotive from Point A to Point B, you will see sold out trains with steam locomotives for power, but you rarely see a sold out diesel powered passenger train.

  • @Cockroach2008 Screw You

  • @Cockroach2008 Fucker

  • Cockroach, go back to the sewer from whence you came!!

  • Haha too bad that beautiful engine will be stored and loved in Albuquerque soon safe from the jerks of the world

  • What are you talking about?

  • don't you understand it. it is not about money!!! if you are a real steam fan you want to spend money on these engines!

  • so what, you will never junk this engine because there are people who love this engine. and you don't comment videos to look for stuff you can cut up to pieces. you just like to piss off people who like steamengines. stop beeing so childish!!

  • why don't you shut up. you are commenting almost all steamlocomotive videos. if you don't like them, stop wathing!!

  • He's a troll he won't stop commenting. Report him to YT PEOPLE.

  • haha hauling amtrak

  • wow! the whistle is awesome!

  • The 3751 Saw Cocopot! Sees Sir Topham Hatt Some Jokes Are Funny! but This One James! You Have Caused Conufshion! Yes Sir!

  • She has a beautiful whistle

  • I like steam engine #3751

  • Probably in case the steamer broke?

  • mostly for dynamic braking

  • Why is there an Amtrak engine behind the steamer?

  • The 3751 can't provide power to the cars cuz it doesn't have HEP, so they have to put an Amtrak engine that has HEP behind it.

I think. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Awesome Sound!

  • loved the ending scene , a speed limit sign of 40 ..

  • If you look closely at the last scene, you see everybody averting their attention to 3751

  • The last part where the 51 is screaming through the leucadia crossing is great. To bad she wasn't doing 90.

  • They won't let her go that fast.

  • Thats is a real Hi-Ball Finish, Thanks for the dose of the westcoast steam
