The Beatles actually recorded the LP version inside a tiny room normally used to store musical equipment at E.M.I studios at Abbey Road, something to do with playing within a confined space.
I prefer this - "insecure" rather than suicidal. And...it may seem like a banal rhyme, when he gets the sky and earth the wrong way round ("and that's the reason why...") - but if he'd retained it, it wouldn't have seemed so off when he recycled the "you know what it's worth" on Sometime In New York City,
@Grithron2 He accidentally reverted to the "Earth/sky" order when singing with the Dirty Mac. He always struggled remembering lyrics. I wonder if now if more of his mistakes are actually just him recalling earlier versions of songs.
I don't know but it makes me feel something strange, it is a mix of thrill, nostalgy and emotion.. I can't breathe.... its is excellent!!! thanks for sharing!!!
This was from the demo sessions they had at George's house in Kinfauns to present songs for what would become the "White" album. I know there is an entire bootleg of nearly all the demos. "From Kinfauns To Chaos" is the one I know of.
@CrazedPeeling A buddy of mine had this on an old cassett tape. before the song starts it sounded like john and an interviewer talking briefly about this song and then they began to sing it together. I cant recall if it is this exact version or what but it was an acoustic version. you have encouraged me to go to my buddies dads house and try to dig those tapes up and see if there are any other gems.
How in hell did they manage to compose the whole song as a demo? I mean, if you hear demos of songs like Help, Come Together or Strawberry Fields they doesn't sound remotely as the final version. This one doesn't lose the essence, as a musician, this is really hard to do. They were way too imaginative to compose the song as a whole from the beginning.
I have an original print of this poster with the beatles gold print autographs... and you know why........cos that's just tjhe way it is,..... if I aint dead all ready ..... girl ya know the reason why...
Never really got the lyrics of this song, but I do like it. This slower more early blues style isn't too bad though... definetly lacks the impact of the hard rock version that's on the album, even if this is just a demo.
sounds like yoko is singing with him? this early version reflects that the song was originally envisioned as more of a true blues type of arrangement....and yet on the album, it has a distinctive hard rock flavor...interesting...rock on...
I wouldn't be surprised to see these old records remastered like the new remasters and released. They've got great style, but this less-than-par quality kind of takes away from the effect.
might even prefer this to the one that made it to the album. love the guitar twang, John's Dylan period.

@MrSmudgyQuill Yeah! i love the raw feel of that track, especially Lennon singing not quite out of range of the mic hear the end.

Definitely from session at Esher. Funny how sweet John sounds, considering what he's singing about.
Interesting to compare the 1960 recording at Paul's house with the session at George's in 1968.
Just think about everything that had happened between the two jams.

I think this comes from Esher sessions in Geroge´s house, I don´t Know why they didn´t put it on the Anthology....
