the headphones stay in because they where drawn in. All actors where filmed on a green screen. the green was chroma keyed (removed) and the actor turned into a black overlay tint, the ipod and wires where painfully (i would reckon) painted in white frame by frame to bring out the contrast. So they could have just been taped in for added measure :)
@PGIO7680 I believe that there's some sort of physics software where you can use the iPod and the earbuds as anchors, and then just have a wire dangling between while the three anchors are tracked.
