  • It's messed up when someone does better cover of a song than the original group. Cascasda did this with such PASSION. This feels rushed and flat by comparison. Nothing remarkable about this version except that it was the original verion.

  • SEEEEEXXXXXXYYYYYYY!!!!!!

  • Not to bad for a little German girl siging about being a kid in America...

  • Happy new year everyone :D

  • 258 kids are not kids in America

  • Wow... I wasn't even born till the 90's and even I know this song. :D

  • true obama was prep by the cia under brezinski in 82

  • Future KKK Theme Song...

  • I want her

  • There's a new wave coming I worn ya! Unfortunately the New Wave scene didn't have as much impression as the prior punk scene, but the music is still cool and resonates in so many bands today. Yeah for wavers!

  • Kinda weird how nobody in this video or on the song is American

  • @rihnem yeah, that is pretty ironic. just found that out myself.

  • I always figure it was a boy singing O.o

  • @killertu Really? Pretty high voice for a dude.

  • @TheOruzu Justin Bieber *cough cough*

  • This is the sounds of music that takes me back to my childhood in the eighties. Good times.

  • Does anyone else totally want to have sex with this beautiful woman?

  • this was a famous one on MTV in the early 80s. the way she looks at the camera.

  • I love how stylish she is/was....

  • 257 people are not the kids in America.....

  • This song is the bome...old but good

  • not even american .

  • arent you glad you were a teen during this time? haha ^_^

  • Wave 103 is awesome.

  • You could say that everybody was stoned during the 60s and 70s too. Big deal.

  • "In the 80's?!?! Were any of us NOT stoned in the 80's? "

    @offamychain: I wasn't, but I still had fun. :)

  • @jessicarabbit290 WELL I WAS TOTALLY STONED IN THE 1980'S!! NEVER WENT ANYWHERE WITHOUT MY SNEAK A TOKE BONG!! AND A GREAT SACK OF PREMO CINCI!! THE CLASS OF 1986 IS STILL IN SESSION!!

  • hell yeah wave 103!!!

  • clueless

  • Check out the young Barack Obama in the background, one of the two painted figures one can see. A prophetic song and video??

  • The world was better than.

  • cascada sings it better

  • @iTzEcLipz3 bullshit!!! i like Cascada but no remake is better than Kim Wilde's own

  • cool song if someone does it today but better.

  • this song is fantstic love love love this song too another one of my top 80's to ten hits! bring back the 80's i sure mis them years!

  • The keyboarders hairline went back to the 70's.

  • 257 are babys

  • For all its 80s cliche, this song holds up perfectly.

  • I'd say the best music was from 1965-1988. Thats not to say their isn't good music outside that time period. I listen to all periods and types of music.....It was just the most creative and orignal time. Today its rehash and off the rack music. I suppose if your 12 years old and tone deaf you might like todays music. No one will be listening to todays music 30 years from now though. I say broaden your horizens...I listen to everything from J.S. Bach to Bachman Turner Overdrive.

  • @MarkFFHH you grew up around that time though, and you have you have a conflict of interest.

It would be interesting to have a total impartial analysis by someone years from now yet born.

Many kids who grew up in the last ten years are forced to go a little more retro than the previous generations had done, because of the corporate handling of much of the distribution, even with the internet being a huge obstacle for them.

  • @MarkFFHH You tell people to broaden their horizons but you trash the music of the 90's and today without a second glance. You conveniently talk about rehashing old music, but you forget rather ironically that Kim Wilde remade a hit from The Supremes. That's right, Kim, Tiffany, Bannarama, and a lot of groups fromt he period you've designated also remade earlier hits and became famous for it.

I'll leave you to stew in the irony of your "wisdom" while I listen to whatever the hell I please.

  • at least its not vevo

  • @instantlight12 What is wrong with Vevo... Everyone is parroting how horrible they are, but I find all my videos in HQ and I don't have to worry about the video disappearing because someone closed their account or pulled the video...

  • good song!

  • Hmm 1981 ah yes 8th grade .

  • worldofcars.go.com/blog/

  • @ch199296 hi me

  • AWESOME song from one of the best decades of all time!! I esp. LOVE the ending with the keyboards!! The 60's and 80's were the best with the 70's and 50's right behind!!

  • wow...

  • I think that just one milion people of 2,454,760 listened this song before GTA Vice City...

  • @VercettiCarnage OR DIGIMON

  • Thank you

  • I'm so glad God allowed me to be a kid in the eighties!!! Nothing beats the music of the 70's and 80's!!!

  • @chotzrary I grew up in the early 80's, got outta high school in '84, but I gotta go with the music of the 80's and 90's. These '11's suck when it comes to music and TV... heck MTV is chock full of 14 years old pregnant chicks these days and I'm tired as shit of vampires

  • @bigdsears Tell me about, me too. Do we really need another vampire? Sluts getting pregnant and beating their boyfriends? MTV sucks, it SUCKS!!! Like the Karate Kid said in the movie. LOL!!! I always loved that part. Now we have gagacrap doing a remake of Like A Prayer with Judas. So stupid and none of these new singers can do anything new.

  • @chotzrary I'm just ready to go watch t pain go on Crossroads on VH1 and do a duet with Taylor Swift. I just wish Trey Parker and Matt Stone were the overseer's of all that is rightous to be put on TV and in the Movies. Screw Harry Potter and new iphones, and if I see one more cartoon movie with cameron diaz or eddie murphy doing the voices, i'll completely flip out. The 80's rocked and had hardly any STD's to speak of. I miss Sigmund and the Seamonsters and Hunk Kung Fooey!

  • im hear cause Osama was killed

  • @Brendanbj101 you're an idiot. not syain, just sayin.

  • @exdiceman you are not to bright either, its " saying" not "sayin"...this isnt dragon ball z!!! haha

  • Cool 80's song! Kim Wilde always look stoned, but she was def cute! .

  • @aitraining said, "Kim Wilde always look stoned ....."

In the 80's?!?! Were any of us NOT stoned in the 80's? Why do you think the music sounded so remarkably brilliant & colorful to us? That's why I STILL listen to 80's music when I'm stoned. Heck, I'm stoned right now ........ and listening to 80's music.

  • 100% 80`s BABE!

  • Whatever I'm the kid of the future and the Jonas brothers are too.

  • Check out the knock-off of a young Barack Obama as one of the two black guys painted on the back wall of the set of this video. Hmmm, more fuel for the conspiracy theories surrounding the mysterious background and promotion of the now-President of the U.S.?

  • @TheMainDon Back in the 80's, I thought that was Elvis.

  • THIS SONG IS THE ALL TIME BEST!!! I remember dancing my ass off to this song, in Long Beach, CA!!! I may now be 51; however, I'm still a KID IN AMERICA... EVERYBODY LIVE FOR MUSIC GO-ROUND!!!!

  • THIS SONG IS THE ALL TIME BEST!!! I remember dancing my ass off to this song, in Long Beach, CA!!! I may now be 51; however, I'm still a KID AMERICA... EVERYBODY LIVE FOR MUSIC GO-ROUND!!!!

  • GTA: Vice City respectively. This i one of the memorys i had of vice city... BRING BACK THE 80's AND VICE CITY!!!!!

  • Diese ist ein gut lied ja! Ich Wollen mein MTV!

  • The music of those years had a positive impression and created a good outlook to the future. Bring back the 80's!!!!

  • @TheLancer66 Except when cocaine dealing when rampant in the 80s >_> Music was awesome though :D

  • Reminds me of early MTV days!

  • *I'll* stop the world and Melt With You...Modern English.

Look for it in the movie Some Kind of Wonderful with Eric Stoltz and Mary Stuart Masterson...;)

This song takes me back a long way.

  • Vice City!

  • This (beat) song is always used nowadays in commercials. Same with the song, "All Stop The World And Melt With You." 80's music is back, and continues.

    Class of 1987

  • We're the Kids in America.

    Woa-oah

    We're the Kids in America.

    Woa-oah

CLASSIC!!! Brings back alot of memories when I was a "KID IN AMERICA"

  • omg I feel old. I love this song! Old Skool is where it is at..

  • @kayskeem fake?? Please explain the logic of your comment.

  • God the Jonas Brothers murdered this :( I watched meet the Robinsons and my sister said she love kids of the future... I was appalled.

  • YEAH!!! IT'S MY PROM!!!!

  • this is probly the #1 most abusing song that every artist making their version. I'm not joking how many remakes did they make? 10?

  • @Maruigi2 cant only think of 3 others

  • Vice City YEAH

  • On this very day in 1981, January 26, this song was released for the very first time. Happy 30th anniversary of this song and Kim Wilde's career! To Kim: <3

  • @LedWilde - That's correct! Very good. I'd forgotten about Jan 26. And it's both funny and sad that here in the Untied States the people who do know her only know this song and maybe the Keep Me Hanging On remake. They think she was only some One Hit Wonder. They have no idea how successful and how adored she is over in Europe and Australia. My sister-in-law is from Germany, and says Kim is a household name there. Oh well! Happy Anniversary Kimmy, with all of my love to you!!! XOXOXO

  • @kimwildelover You keep me hanging on got #1, this got #25 :( Basically nothing else charted. I have the very best of Kim Wilde and I am 12!

  • Personally, I like the Len version (yes, the song from Digimon lol)

  • hawt (imho)

  • Why is this song about America if the singer's British? She most certainly is not American nor a kid. I smell foul play.

  • @BailoAnoche Dunno, maybe it's about money? After all, the US of A has more people than Great Britain. And kids are the ones who spend money of music. Money, money, money.

  • As much as the 80's was the the worst decade ever in the history of music.... there are a few gems.

    This is one !

  • I a kid (teen) in America right now. Honestly, I'd rather listen to this over Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers, etc. any day. This seems like real music. Too bad I wasn't born until the 90s. People in the 80s had good taste!

  • This one of my favorite songs... What ever happened to real good music?

  • i do not like this song

  • kid power! lol

  • why the thumbs up for the retarded comments,,,this song is classic...doesn't matter who covered it..or used it for profit

  • I was a kid in america,/yes,when it was America..

  • @ilovety65 ..... america is still america

  • Saw the 80zAllStars play this in the San Diego Gaslamp a few weeks after 9/11. It was awesome ...will never forget how pumped everyone was during this song.

If you hypocrite Eurotrash, backward Muslims, etc want to spew hate at the U.S.; tough shit cause "We're the kids in America" and you're not!

  • The 80's ....Big Hair Bands , Video Arcade Games and everyone spoke English .....

  • Di Di Di Di Digmon, Digimon are the champions!

  • @musicspider911 DON'T REMIND ME OF THAT AWFUL DUB!

    Sub FTW!

  • Digimon!

  • 1:46 that guy is soooo hot

  • Happy Birthday, Kim! We love you!

  • Wave 103 anyone?

  • @grt05 wasn't that a vice city radio station? lol

  • @grt05 lol thats vice city

  • @grt05 Thank you for keeping it real. VC forever!

  • @grt05 ran down my first haitian to this tune

  • I remember the first time I heard this song... You know how the story goes.

  • this was written by her dad and brother, and she can sing live!!! and why is lil wayne being compared to a female 80s singer??? and this is the best version of the song as it was wriiten for her voice. no one can sing it like her, she sings it even better these days tho as she a move experianced singer than 30 years ago x

  • Kim was so pretty, pretty and natural not a hair extension and gimmick in sight. She was someone girls and young women could look up to and dress like without having to have mega bucks. These days, it must be pretty hard for young girls to copy the likes of Cheryl Cole. Hair weaves, teeth whitening , tan, designer clothes....must cost a fair bit. And Kim could sing. Cheryl can't.

  • Mmmm, Kim Wilde, my first real crush and one of the sexiest 80's stars ever!

  • 254 people have no taste. and 5289 have a soul

  • Je t'aime Kim, tu es trop belle

  • wow

  • One direction was awesome...if it didn't leave an impression, why did you search the song on you tube and comment ABOUT one direction ON it??

  • @icekueen absolutly true.....

  • tbh, I liked One direction's MUCH better, this wasn't even a hit, One Direction's will be. People always seem to think a cover has to sound exactly like the original, it doesn't. One Direction made it their own.

  • Comment removed

  • @dabest121 Wasn't even a hit?! Are you joking!

  • @rashid81

Sadly he doesn't know any better and didn't understand what was said on X Factor.

Louis Walsh said it wasn't a hit in America (which was the theme for show), it was certainly not a big hit but it did chart in the US.

  • Comment removed

  • @dabest121

In what way did they "make it there own" ?

Sure they miss out a verse and the final chorus, but that's a hardly note worth change. Other than that there is a 1 second delay during a break from verse to chorus at around the one minute mark...and the end is a little boy bandy.

They in no way made it their own. More importantly people want covers to sound different, as different as possible. Otherwise what's the point?

  • @dabest121 it was a no 2 hit in the 80s... and if one direction are aloud to cover it and release it im sure kim, her dad and brother wont mind as they wrote it and get lots of cash if it is a hit!!!

  • FUCK FIRST ERECTION (one direction)

  • Everything Is Ruined Forever.

  • one directions version is rubbish compared to this

  • this song is killed now because one direction sang it

  • the only reason im listening to this is cos of ONE DIRECTION :D

  • One Direction Singing This 2nite.. Lol :L x

  • Damn, I used to listen to the LEN version all the time (I was a digimon fan when I was a kid). The original is better...

  • kim is now a landscape gardener, and a damn good one up to her neck in work,i believe she has done chelsea flower show a few times.

  • I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I get the feeling this song is about sex, drugs, or anti-establishment, or some other message that doesn't belong on the disney channel.

  • @rgrockr

I suspect it's not...If i remember right it was written by her dad.

I think it's about what it sounds like it's about...nothing much.

  • Kim is a right stunner - if only i could have been a backing band member !!!

  • her dad is marty wilde,a 60"s singer he had quite a few hits, not a guy you messed around with, ask cliff richards.

  • her dad is marty wilde,a 60"s singer he had quite a few hits, not a guy you messed around with, ask cliff richards.

  • ロンドン出身のKim Wildeさんのこの曲はドイツでヒットしましたが、タイトルはKids in America.なんですよね。

  • I love everything about this song except for the chorus. Besides that, for me, it was one of the coolest pop songs of all time.

  • lip sincing, so 80's I love it

  • Love it...simple & perfect! No airbrushing required!

  • wow she has david bowie eyes!

  • Love it.....damn, I'm a teenager again!!!!!

  • i first heard this song on the 1st digimon movie :)

  • @ClearMetalVoltar hell yeah! i did too

  • Unicorn

  • Is amazed at the stupidity and moronic nature of a lot of the comments on youtube, i actually come to read and laugh at how dumb people really are.

  • World class mouth.

  • We are the kids of America!!

  • soooooo hot !!

  • It's cool to see the much younger Barack Obama (the system's "Tan Evrerymand" ) spray paimteed over this gon

  • God - she's so ADORABLE

  • luscious, succulent lower lip

  • she's so easy to look at

  • shes wearing the black and white colors that are used to worship alot of evil gods and stuff......she also has no expressions on her face and sings like nothings happing around her

  • shes one oof the illumanati pple

  • better than JONAS BROS.

  • I'm sorry I like the modern versions better. I'm not complaining it sux just not my cup of tea.

  • @rocknroargodezz the " no secrets" version sux--wtf

  • @sharpasaneraser I don't see it. And well they both are about the same level this one is a bit higher because of the fact that it doesn't look all candy kiddie pop like no secrets. btw was no secrets from disney?

  • Simply put, superb!

  • BETTER THAN DISNY CHANNELS VERSION!

  • @Pancake6021 no secrets came from disney? WOAH!

  • @rocknroargodezz ya.disney bought this song, and made there own FUCKING song taking this lyrics.

    FUCK DISNEY!!!

  • @Pancake6021 yeah disney sux terribly now they r trying 2 buy everything.

  • @rocknroargodezz They already bought:club penguin, toonstown, some black eye pees songs,AND not to mention their trying to buy as many songs as possible so they dont have to write songs.but disney kills all the good songs.there songs suck.lol.

  • Kim Wilde is amazing. What a fucking hottie!

  • is this band a one hit wonder?

  • @FireMast23 - She is definately NOT a one hit wonder. She has over a dozen albums to her name, and approximately 50 singles which charted all over Europe, Australia and Asia. 2010 marks her 30th year in the music industry. And she is still going strong.

  • shes awsome !!! :}

  • i love this song good

  • defined a generation, of music and people
