i dont get why when i pull off i get no sound from the second note. like in the beginning when you pulled off the 19th fret and you got perfect sound from the high E string on the 15th fret but i get nothing and i cant figure out what the fucking problem is.

Use your picking hand to mute that string. I use my thumb with my picking hand to mute all the string above what I'm playing.

When talking guitar, label your fingers 1 Index or Pointer, 2 Middle, 3 Ring, 4 Pinky.

Now, you need to control the other strings with both hands using muting techniques. This is hard at first, but you will get it. Use your left hand finger 1 to touch the bottom of the B or 2nd string so when you pull off with finger 4, or your pinky, the B string doesn't sound. Use your right hand placed lightly on the G or third string to mute is until your ready to play it. Hope this helps.

ha. why not just play the actual chords you're sweeping for a more balanced feel? cuz power chords are fifth chords and might conflict with the actual arpeggiated chord if its a seventh or third. maybe if its just minors to power chords its okay but you really should try to find something that flows better behind it like minor chords, it'd fit the sad overtone of the arpeggios themselves too. but otherwise great lesson. next i think you should go over full six and seven string sweeps :)

I picked the powerchords because you can play anything over them - major, minor, 7th it doesn't matter they will never conflict! The first arpeggio could be played over an E minor chord, but the rest are all major arpeggios, so they would need major chords over them to sound right. With distortion on though, anything more than powerchords sounds too much!!

lol i noticed that after i posted. but with a lot more distortion you can do simple melodies or riffs based on the chords under the sweeps for the same emotive effect of the actual chords and then it'd sound super metal and cut across the right feel
