  • I disagree withg the bleeding and bruising part. I find placing the bar over the toes just as effective. I do have a question for you. Should I use any support for my heels, like a block of wood when doing any form of sqauts? I tend to tip forward when doing them.

  • The definition of DEADlift is a lift that starts from a DEAD stop, i.e., the floor. She didn't start from the floor. Her hands on the way down were way too far from her body. You can't tell the form is bad because there isn't any weight on the bar, but trust me if there was, the weight would have pulled her forward and rounded out her back.

    probably because i did it more like squats than deadlifts (lifting mostly with my legs and not bending my back forward) and because my legs were close and toes pointing forward i strained some ligament in my feet

I'd recommend no one seeing this should follow it. Her closing comments are inaccurate too. You can learn the DL better at other places on YT.

  • its for demonstration guys, she obv wouldnt be able to go that low unless she put like 5 lb plates on, its easier to make mistakes without any weight because you can move the bar pretty much anywhere, like on a hand clean its easy to reverse curl the bar instead of pulling it up w/o any weight cuz its only 45 lbs, put 100+ lbs on it most people couldnt reverse curl tht etc

  • there is a bunch of mistakes :

    1/ hips WAAAY too low

    2/ Starting with the negative, thats no more a DEAD lift

    3/ Her knee angle opens up way too much in the upper portion

    4/ Deadlifts aren't primarily legs.

  • Too many idiots on these threads. What she is doing *is* a deadlift (hips significantly lower than shoulders and vertical arms throughout). Not a sumo deadlift (hands *between* the legs), or a stiff-leg/bent-leg deadlift which many noobs confuse as being a "deadlift" because it is the one most commonly done by casual gymgoers who have never been trained or done basic research.

    Her main faults were not starting from the ground, way too fast (so bar moved from legs) and elbows bent slightly.

  • At 1:07/1:08 she is in big-time spinal flexion. If she kept spinal neutral as she does with 'good mornings' she'd have reasonable spinal position to deadlift. Other than that,....well, actually,.... just about everything else is wrong too, such as footwear, starting from height, neck extension etc).

  • There are different ways to do a deadlift with correct form. If you want to work your legs more to involve more muscle groups you can do it this way. As long as your back is straight it is ok. It depends on what you want to workout. I do it this way because I don't have a squat rack at home and I want to get a full body workout.

  • @ppolotong Well, you're supposed to start with the bar on the ground. You should use 45lb plates for proper height, but you can also prop up other plates with some sort of stand to proper height. You'd be much better off to find Mark Rippetoe's vide on Deadlift Setup. Actually, it's in the related videos section. Also, keep the bar against your thighs once it passes your knees, too. Whoever certified her is an idiot.
