"Tea Party" is a Big Lie. It's not the simple 1700s. We now have millions of life-saving water-food-air-safety, police, military, etc. provided by "big government" (We The People). During the real Tea Party there were no freeways, bridges nor school that allow real tax-paying patriots to work & contribute to the superior progress this nation has. I've never whined about paying taxes as without regulations many of us wouldn't be here. Due to Cheney's deregulations the Gulf is an oil pool."
The people enslave themselves. When American "juries" stop sending citizens who refuse to pay the income tax to prison, then and only then will Americans be free. The American people will never see change until they understand that they must (with respect to the income tax), always vote NOT GUILTY in the jury box!!
A very small number of taxpayers -- the 10% of the country that makes more than $92,400 a year -- pay 72.4% of the nation's total income taxes.
In 2001, 43 million Americans, who earn less than $30,500, made 13.5% of the nation's income but paid no income tax. Instead, they received checks from their taxpaying neighbors worth $16.3 billion. By 2005, those checks totaled $33.3 billion.
That's because the 10% that makes 92k+ a year still are a larger group in monetary terms than the sub 30k group. If you figure that 30 million makes 92k, then you would need to tax 100million people making 30k a year, except you can't because there aren't that many people making that amount. Essentially it's more cost effective- besides, if you're making 92k a year, even if you lose half of it you still would make more than the poor sods who make only 30k wouldn't you?
That's why I have left the Republicrat Duality Party and have gone indipendent. Neither party represents my values any more. They are equally worthless.
Take the "tea party" to the next level - National!
If you're fed up, send a single tea bag to the White House with a note attached, "Repeal the stimulus bill. Eliminate all "pork barrel" spending. Preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution."
Spread the word.
Send on Friday, March 13th and Washington will have to take notice that the citizenry, the voters, are not pleased.
I was at the protest yesterday, and was very impressed by the turnout. The weather was awful, but the steps were packed and passing drivers were honking and waving. I'm looking forward to the next event.
