Wow I've haven't ever seen Phil live what neat guy, great chops and not to say anything about the 2nd guitar player would be an insult. They really work good together ! Oatman29
Phil just told me in March that he has only ever owned 2 Les Pauls in his life. A 1960 that is in a vault. (owned by someone else) and the 1 he has had since the early 70s. in March, he was using 2 Fender Deluxe reverb amps and the 71 LES PAUL. He did have some pedals, and a looper or two or three... The one thing about the amps - LOUD There were packing blankets covering them and 3 inch foam pads behind them to keep from killing John Sferra as he played drums.. AMAZING TONE!!!!
Man this is awesome... unfortunately one of the top guitarists in rock, but not as celebrated as some others. How does he get that tone out of what it seems to be a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp? Is that thing just cranked?
This is my favorite Phil tune also; but for a searing Keaggy lead, check out Airborne Ranger on Mark Farner's "Closer to Home". Amazing that God could pack so much talent into one human being... :)
This is my favorite song he has ever done. But the version on the Time album (2 cds) is the best. I have played that version live with a band and it is awesome. ( Yes I play the guitar part Lol... ) But if you want an awesome album, get the 2nd Chapter of Acts - How the West Was Won. Check out the song Yahweh. Phil Burns the guitar up on it... I'm telling ya. Check it out... You won't be sorry if your a Phil fan.
@MrBrad1205 The live version of "Time" on "How the West was Won" is pretty awesome too. The original version is from his album "Love Broke Thru" (and also appeared on his best-of compilation "Time" as you said). For a while the "Love Broke Thru" album was available on CD in it's entirety together with his first solo album (also in it's entirety), "What A Day". Not sure if this CD is still available. Check Phil's website. If it's not there, ask. They may be able to hunt one down for you.
@masterandthemusician oui c'est vrai. Je l'ai rencontré une fois en Angleterre dans un festival et on a parlé ensemble. J'en garde un très bon souvenir autant que son concert.
This song was the firs song I heard from Phil in early 80s (I was maybe 10 yrs old)It was a music video actually, was also the first time I saw/heard an e-bow!
you must be a second me, this is EXACTLY how I heard from Phil first. About ten years old, an 80's ebow version of the song (my dad had an old tape from a live concert in the 80's) and tada, Phil's been my favorite musician ever since.
I've heard this song live when I was a teenager 1982 in Stuttgart Concerthall Sindelfingen. At this time there where no digital phil keaggy videos on youtube ;-))
Definitely not what I expected from a master and the musician tour, but after watching this and the other videos that looks like a concert not to be missed!
Phil is a great musician and a lovely person. I don't think you'll ever find a better human being on the planet! :-)

C'est un des premiers trucs chrétien que j'ai entendu dans les année 80. Et je dois dire que je suis tombé en amour de cette musique !

Phil est un homme tres aimable et il joue la guitare comme aucun autre. Merci pour vos mots aimables.

100% agree with what Wisebard777 just said - great tune, but you have to hear the 14min version on How the West Was Won - a Band Called David

Yeah! I've got that album, that song just blew my mind.
