this man is very honest. salif keita is a griot but history will not tell us that.... you are born a griot u cannot become...... no matter what people say...................... THE TOURES ARE THE NOBLES..... THIS MAN HERE IS ONE OF THE FEW OF THE MANDE WHO TELLS THE TRUth when h speaks. massa bless him
I just saw Toumani perform at the Sydney Festival here in Australia. Absolutely fantastic performance, I've never left a comment on anything on youtube but he deserves the first and the last comment, His performance was eye opening, inspiring and had 30000+ people going wild, welllllll done to say the least!!!
another beutiful album by Toumani Diabaté (with Ali Farka Touré) bears the title 'In the heart of the moon', also published by World Circuit. An album not to be missed!!!
I've saw Toumani Diabate yesterday March 30 performing in the Fleck Africa project tour in New York. Awesome music, the kora fills the theatre, a unique experience. Fleck also presented other talented musicians from Africa, including D'Gary playing some of the best acoustic guitar solos i've ever heard. Fleck played with all the musicians, and was great. At the end of the show they personally greated everybody and signed autographs. Not to be missed.
Don't you find that all folk traditions are as similar as they are divers. The griot tradition is that of the bardic celt, the troupadour, the quwali singer. This is so lovely music.
What an expressive instrument! I find the fact that there are musical families in Mali, Gambia, Senegal and guinea that go back for centuries to be utterly fascinating. As a musician who felt the spark of the music at a young age but lacked the environment to bring it to fruision until adulthood, I am envious. It must be wonderful to grow up in such a family.
In this music is the "seat of the soul" of an ancient energy...Tranquility, Light, Sound...Life! A Mystical Journey...Which confirms that a better world lives within us to find and just be...Merci Tumani Diabaté... Namaste(The Divinity in me sSalutes the Divinity in you) votre soeur d'un coeur...in LOVE!
"Fly Me To The Moon", sang Frank Sinatra.
Toumani Diabate makes that possible.
This mans music is like hearing angels tripping past your ears.
Sublime, beautiful, provocative and heavenly vibes.
21 strings have never sounded so good!
Thank you Mr. Diabate - you are an inspiration.

I hope he is well. I noticed him using a crutch at the end of the video. A couple of years ago he was dancing around on the stage.
