Good for you Sandra!! I am so glad she won the award!! I by accident hit the thumbs down button, I meant thumbs up!! I re-clicked thumbs up just in case!! Brought tears to my eyes, a beautiful person.
Forest Whitaker's speech to Sandra Bullock is so embarrassing, talking about her talent and mention that awful movie called hope floats, that even when he finished his speech no one believe it, and no one applaud.
And in the other hand, Oprah and Stanley Tucci gave wonderful speeches
Worst moment in Oscar history, any other of the talented actresses should have won, I don't care which, but anyone but not Sandra Bullock, other awful moments in Oscar are the triumph of Crash, Geraldine Paige over Whoopi Goldberg, Gwyneth over Cate Blanchett, Grace Kelly and Rita Moreno over Judy Garland, just to name a few
By far Sandra's strongest performance & she's a genuinely lovely person, but she still shouldn't have won the Oscar, it should've gone to Carey Mulligan for An Education.
nothing exceptional about her, even though i do like sandra i feel like this was more of a pitty prize than anything... that girl from precious acted waaaaay better and deserved a lot more.
Clearly not the best year of Oscars. Sandra Bullock winning the Oscar, The Hurt Locker winning Best Picture, Avatar only winning three Oscars (loosing Sound Editing and Mixing).
The best parts: Monique and Christoph Waltz winning, Geoffrey Fletcher winning Best Adapted Screenplay - the first black screenwriter to win an Oscar, Up winning Best Original Score.
Okay parts (not complaining): Jeff Bridges finally winning an Oscar, Kathryn Bigelow winning Best Director, and that's about it.
Being able to remember this clearly still hurts. I absolutely love her, but she has no standards for an Academy Award - or, for all I care, maybe it's the Oscar that no longer has'em.
@ksairoredjo1 cause it was a fantastic performance and she's been one of the most underrated actors in the biz. Plus she's one of the most liked (for good reason) people in the biz.
@richarldluva124 Seriously? You can't even compare her performance to that of Vivien Leigh's or Elizabeth Taylor's or Meryl Streep's. Sandra's (as much as I adore her) win is pretty low in the list of winners.
@rafaelbuzios check out Tom Hanks winning best actor for philadelphia, not anything against sandra, she totally deserved the award, but Tom Hanks speech is a tear jerker
I like Sandra, but I think a nomination would have been enough. There were other amazing actresses that year Carey Mulligan & Helen Mirren both gave powerful performances and Meryl Streep gave one of the most entertaining performances of the year. But it is rare to give an Oscar just for being an amazing entertainer , it is for that reason if it had my decision that the Oscar would have gone to Gabourey Sidibe.
@lissa16lissa: because there's a strong opinion that Streep was far-and-away more deserving of the Best Actress nod for her work in Julie & Julia than Sandra Bullock in 2010 and so at this years Oscars, instead of giving the BA nod to Viola Davis as most expected, the members gave the award to Streep as a "sorry we fucked up in 2010 so here's the award to make it up to you" so thus Davis lost out on an award she should've received.
Which would be the actress that Sean Penn wanted to win? Sandra Bullock? I don't think so, who did you think it could be, I though that Carey or Meryl Streep
Gosh the best woman you could ever have the honor of meeting! That was the best speech I have ever seen! When she said that about Jesse He was probably crying because he knew how loving of a womaan she is and what he was really doing. When she spoke about her mom I broke down,
"And tonight, she is sitting at the Academy Awards in the same category as Meryl Streep." Say what you will about Oprah, but that woman knows how to make an impact with a speech!
Jesse's whispering in Sandra's ear, "By the way, now that you won, I have to tell you a few things when we get home about what happened while you were away on the set."
it's not even about getting the award itself. the real reward is that an entire theatre of people, some of which are esteemed actors, actresses, writers, etc love you so much and stood in your honor. only sandra could have that many people love her like that.
i love sandra and meryl's interaction. hahaha. they're the fucking best. only sandra could make me laugh and cry within minutes. she makes me feel bipolar.
People who say that Gabourey is fat and ugly... ugh, I pray that you guys don't end up in hell. Why make someone feel like shit? It's time to move on... #BORNTHISWAY!
name a fat girl with an ugly face not the best hope we done have to wait as long as we did for halle to get another woman of colour to win (no asian latina woman ever nomtied)
@PaulhusBrittany jesse must have felt like such an asshole when she was publicly telling everyone how wonderful he was. i still think he sabotaged himself on purpose because he couldn't understand how he got such a wonderful woman like sandra. too bad for him. she's such a classy, funny woman.
".....Which means that this could be the last time that anyone would have to stand up here and say, despite their personal feelings, That Meryl Streep is quit simply The Best!"
The Precious Actress should loose some weight. That is not healthy. Ofc she should not become "Hollywood" thin, but she should take care of her health. She has such a beautiful face!
@Paischi I'm not gonna say anything mean, but I don't like people who tell others to lose weight. You should worry about yourself, and let others do that too.
You don't even know her, so you are no one to her to say something like that. I'm not saying it is healthy, or it isn't, because I don't know if she is, in fact, healthy.
And I think people who tell others that they are too fat, are the ones responsible for anorexia and bulimia.
@KaiserBecks She was the executive producer of Precious and nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Color Purple. I guess those two reasons good enough for putting her up on that stage.
@centralviva seriously she got an oscar for that role, unbelievable. Her performance didnt even stand out for me. the movie itself is fucking exploitative at best. oh a poor black boy gets saved by the rich white lady. fuck this film.
@centralviva I agree! The oscars lowest point. It was like "Single Ladies" winning Song of the year at the grammys LOL Hey I think it was the same year
The way Oprah is talking about Gabby is so funny, as if she would be successful actress. The poor girl needs to lose weight so she fits into hollywood image. I'm not being harsh but this is true.
@ThoseDarnNargles LOL I said the same thing like I LOVE LOVE!!! Sandy but this was not an oscar worthy performance. I mean it wasn't a difficult role by any means. It wasn't different from any other role she's done in the past either.
They are all great actors. Gabby was fantastic, but I really thought Sandra deserved this award. Meryl doesn't need to win anymore Oscars because everyone knows she is already the greatest actress out there! :)
For me, Sandra was great but she shouldn't have won the Oscar. Either Carey, Meryl or Gaby should have won it. But I suppose the most important part is to be recognised and that's what the nominations are all about.
Seeing Jesse's face at 11:46 makes me want to cry because it's so beautiful! They way he looks at her, you can tell how in love he is and how proud he is. And it confuses me that this kind of a face could be coming from someone who was doing what he was doing.
I personally think that Sandra Bullock was fantastic in The Blind Side. I have yet to see An Education, Precious, or The Last Station, so I can't say if she truly deserved the Oscar. I thought that Meryl Streep was great, but Bullock's role required a certain amount of complexity that is hard to achieve. Also, as Roger Ebert said, Oscars love a comeback performance.
well, Meryl Streep being in a comedy movie, despite she was truly amazing, was predictable that she wouldn't win, as comedy movies don't do very well at Oscars.

I don't get it.
@Hellcome2play Yes, she has won two. 1 for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Kramer vs Kramer, and 1 Best Actress for her role in Shopie's Choice.
Good for you Sandra!! I am so glad she won the award!! I by accident hit the thumbs down button, I meant thumbs up!! I re-clicked thumbs up just in case!! Brought tears to my eyes, a beautiful person.

I don't get it.

@alasfran28 Actually, Bette Davis DID win a oscar for All About Eve. It was the same year Gloria Swanson was nominated for Sunset Boulevard too.
