wouldnt be better to create a negative stencil and lay that down on the mesh then stroke the mosh podge glue stuff on with a squeege instead of painting it? that way it will be the exact image
Use leftover latex paint your parents have instead of mod podge if you're having trouble finding some, it won't cost anything and it does a better job at masking with less leaks. Be sure to use it in a well ventilated area though, as it does have dangerous fumes.
A job very well done! Your instructions are so simple to follow, anyone can do it. We are doing a family reunion and want to do shirts, this video clip has helped us out a bunch. Thank you!!!!
This is not the way to silk screen shirts. Paint will not last as long as silk screening ink. Rather than using glue you use emulsion or capillary films. This is a very ghetto way of doing it and you don't get the best results. However its definitely cool to try if you cant afford to silk screen.
what is the name of white material that goes around the screen? would glue? I can pass the name of all materials used, because the world and I can not translate what he was talking about!
well( photo emulsion spread it across you screen, you print your picture to a clear paper and place it on the screen< expose it light for 3 mins, the place where the light couldnt go through will be able to wash away. there is your image stencil, print away(i have left stuff out) but works wayyyy beter i hve done both ways(and they sell kits at art stores)
on the side that wont be on the shirt, and no squeegy(wrong spelling forsure) and use the squeegy for the ink as well, they will have a whole section on the stuff you need at the art store. and its very easy
Cheers man. I've read that you have to apply the emulsion in a dark room? Does it have to be a dark room? Or if I just pulled the curtains shut would that be ok?
you have to make sure you use your emulsion in a dark room and make sure No light is in your room. use a red night light, or other color bulb... just not your reg. white light.
it's probably for those people want a certain type of shirt that stores don't have. It actually would be better cause you pay the same price as a normal shirt but you have what you want.
I used to do something like that in High School. I sucked trying to get my t shirt look like a real Nascar shirt. Also after I am done with that I have to iron it before I throw it in the washer. If I dont iron it then the picture has washed away after all the hard work.
can please anyone tell me what can i use instead of the acrylic sealer because i cant find it anywhere here??and whats the name of the paint or ink??and can i use it on all fabrics??i need to know asap..Thank you
this shit is WAY better than professional machines that cost up to $3,000 dollars.u can find these materials at the family dollar.saves a crap load of money.THIS is old skool.awesome!!
I like the idea of making a small screen from the fabric and an embroidery hoop and will probably attempt to do so at some point, but the rest of it seems like it's not really saving enough money over the products that are made for this sort of thing to be worth it to me.
i've purchased some black nylon fabric, because there was nothing else. the pencil and sharpie does not show up,what should i use to have my traced design to show up?
It's the rubbery type stuff that old ladies use to preserve jigsaw puzzles forever or decoupage magazine cut outs to the sides of empty cans...I think any kind of rubbery permanent glue works. My friend used rubber cement and that worked fine too.
Don't know, but Michael's Art Supply stores sell it for $7 bucks a bottle! Ouch. The embroydery hoops are only about $1.25 though, and I recommend using a fine tip sharpie so you only have to trace pattern once.
If your really don't want to spend the money and probably get a crappy result then go with this. Otherwise go out and at least buy a proper screen and squeegee.
omfg, thank you, thanks you oh so very much, i just spent about an hour looking for instructions on silkscreening, all i found were people trying to sell me kits and such, or people who already had their silkscreens pre-done and didn't show me how to make them, you da man, and that picture of magneto was pretty freakin sweet
ROFL! magneto! hahaha! thats so lame why not buy that iron on stuff you can print on it actually works if you do it right lol! made my day this is so funny!

if it was a stencil design, you might as well have used the stencil itself. Screen printing is used to do designs without breaks in it.

asraf1994 3 years ago
there is a better way of doing this...his is ghetto but it works....
dectrone 3 years ago
Cool, what's the better way?
QuinnyGoth 3 years ago
well( photo emulsion spread it across you screen, you print your picture to a clear paper and place it on the screen< expose it light for 3 mins, the place where the light couldnt go through will be able to wash away. there is your image stencil, print away(i have left stuff out) but works wayyyy beter i hve done both ways(and they sell kits at art stores)
dectrone 3 years ago
Cheers man. Which side should I spread the emulsion, or doesn't it matter? & should I just use a paint brush to spread it?
QuinnyGoth 3 years ago
on the side that wont be on the shirt, and no squeegy(wrong spelling forsure) and use the squeegy for the ink as well, they will have a whole section on the stuff you need at the art store. and its very easy
dectrone 3 years ago
Cheers man. I've read that you have to apply the emulsion in a dark room? Does it have to be a dark room? Or if I just pulled the curtains shut would that be ok?
QuinnyGoth 3 years ago
put a cloth over it like a black sheet the would be fine i put a board and thats it
dectrone 3 years ago
Over the window?
QuinnyGoth 3 years ago
ya light source under the glass, picture(you have printed) emulsion screen next, cover to close out other light sources and that should work
dectrone 3 years ago
you have to make sure you use your emulsion in a dark room and make sure No light is in your room. use a red night light, or other color bulb... just not your reg. white light.
