  • wouldnt be better to create a negative stencil and lay that down on the mesh then stroke the mosh podge glue stuff on with a squeege instead of painting it? that way it will be the exact image

  • This is the clearest and most USEFUL at-home screen printing how-to I've seen yet. You rock!

  • @llueveagua Yes, because the acryllic paint/ ink may come out in the wash.

  • Use leftover latex paint your parents have instead of mod podge if you're having trouble finding some, it won't cost anything and it does a better job at masking with less leaks. Be sure to use it in a well ventilated area though, as it does have dangerous fumes.

  • is the acrylic sealer necessary? or more of a precaution? i cant find it anywhere.

  • would pantyhose fabric work?

Is there a Mod Podge equivalent?

  • would pantyhose fabric work?

Is there a Mod Podge equivalent?

  • yeah i dont no abou thatt.......

  • can i also use this technique on a canvas?!

  • had to pause the video to say.... hahahaha! "a bad ass picture of magneto.." xD!!! ok back to video hahahahahah!

  • where do you find Mod Podge for only $3???

  • Comment removed

  • Yes!!!!!! Finally the poor girls version :D

  • THANK YOU! :)

  • What's the song?

  • Shouldn't be supporting your favorite band by buying their merchandise?

  • @finkone No. Let'em spend their own money with publicity, not fan's.

  • Would Elmer's Glue work?

  • wat mesh did you use??

  • where would u get the hoop from? like any craft store or what?

  • yeahp I got mine at Joannes arts and crafts! XD

  • instead of pouring ink all over the screen, can't you just paint over it (the design) ?

  • thats harder and you can only use it once if you d

    do that

  • but can't you wash the screen? that's what i did anyways..

  • finally, the cheap version!

  • can u use mod podge gloss??

and what if u want to print on paper instead of shirt?

  • then you're screwed!*

*screwing not actually guaranteed to happen.

  • what is the circle frame called??

  • It's an embroidery hoop.

yeah you can screen print paper or even wood.

  • If I made a stencil and simply spray painted on the shirt, would that plus the acrylic sealer do the job just as well?

  • does the hodge podge stuff wash off? or am i stuck with that design on the screen?

  • sharpie doesn't so I would skip that

  • if it was a stencil design, you might as well have used the stencil itself. Screen printing is used to do designs without breaks in it.

  • awesome, man!

    Will be very helpfull!

    Thanks!

  • WOW MAGNETO OR WHATEVER SUCKED

  • wow this is really helpful and very well done. good job and thanks

  • A job very well done! Your instructions are so simple to follow, anyone can do it. We are doing a family reunion and want to do shirts, this video clip has helped us out a bunch. Thank you!!!!

  • then y the fuk dnt u just by print screen paper andd then print out ur desighn and iron it on for free then spend 12 pounds

  • how do you "use the screen over and over and over" is its covered in glue. Unless, its THAT DESIGN, over and over and over.

  • hahahaha yer that wot i was thinkin!!! lol!!!

  • Silk Screen.... jajajaja !!

  • This is not the way to silk screen shirts. Paint will not last as long as silk screening ink. Rather than using glue you use emulsion or capillary films. This is a very ghetto way of doing it and you don't get the best results. However its definitely cool to try if you cant afford to silk screen.

  • omg thank you i was looking for some thing like this answer some of the questions below like how long does it last

  • awsome!!

  • danm thats ghetto as fuck

  • Thanks. Awesome video and very good explanation during the process. It looks so simple (after all those complex techniques that I have seen before.)

  • how did u get the mod podge for $3 i can only find it for like $15 or more?

  • You idiot, its just Elmer's glue.

  • wot the fudge is elmers glue??? and y reply sooooooo slow!!!

  • glue. white. glue.

  • thanks you lol!!!

  • didnt you ever go to school?

  • i went to an australian school oes that answer ur question? and ima still goin to it!!!

  • well good for you buddy.

  • yer it is reall good i learne how to spell today!!! my mummy was soooooo proud of me

  • a simple fabric store

  • um can i use any glue or do i have to use mod podge?

  • Can you just use any old acrylic paint for this?

Also, how long does the design last?

  • just wondering .. would it work if you just got the piece of paper with the design n put it under the screen?? thats what we did in art class

  • why not just get drawing fluid and filler lol

  • great vid

  • what's the "generic name" of mod podge? I don't think I'll be able to find that exact brand here

  • ^_^v

  • Yes it's cheap but it ROCKS!!

  • haha this is so ghetto

  • what is the name of white material that goes around the screen? would glue? I can pass the name of all materials used, because the world and I can not translate what he was talking about!

    thanks.

  • creo que es pega blanca

  • Anybody know any quality but cheap inks?

    Thanks

  • Great tutorial.

Are there square frames that you can get because the design for my t shirt it pretty big and it would be easier if the frame was square/rectangle.

    Thanks

  • i dunno where i want to get mod podge

  • there is a better way of doing this...his is ghetto but it works....

  • Cool, what's the better way?

  • well( photo emulsion spread it across you screen, you print your picture to a clear paper and place it on the screen< expose it light for 3 mins, the place where the light couldnt go through will be able to wash away. there is your image stencil, print away(i have left stuff out) but works wayyyy beter i hve done both ways(and they sell kits at art stores)

  • Cheers man. Which side should I spread the emulsion, or doesn't it matter? & should I just use a paint brush to spread it?

  • on the side that wont be on the shirt, and no squeegy(wrong spelling forsure) and use the squeegy for the ink as well, they will have a whole section on the stuff you need at the art store. and its very easy

  • Cheers man. I've read that you have to apply the emulsion in a dark room? Does it have to be a dark room? Or if I just pulled the curtains shut would that be ok?

  • put a cloth over it like a black sheet the would be fine i put a board and thats it

  • Over the window?

  • ya light source under the glass, picture(you have printed) emulsion screen next, cover to close out other light sources and that should work

  • you have to make sure you use your emulsion in a dark room and make sure No light is in your room. use a red night light, or other color bulb... just not your reg. white light.

  • Really liked the tutorial, and i am planning to print though, and i hope i can do something.

  • Nice Tut! :)

  • omg u made this look so easy!!!!!!!but ill try to do this

  • dam this kids definitely a jew check out his prices.

  • Verrrrrrrrrrrry awesome. Thank you.

  • is that mod podge the same as PVA glue?

  • wow.

buyinq all thoese materials you'd miqht as well just qo buy a shirt:]]

  • it's probably for those people want a certain type of shirt that stores don't have. It actually would be better cause you pay the same price as a normal shirt but you have what you want.

  • and you can make alot of them not just one

  • how much do silk screens usually go for?

  • how come you cant put the stencil on top instead on the bottom at around 1:28-1:34??

    thanks btw this was awesome.

  • Wow this is exactly what i needed to see everything else was so complicated! Thanks a million =)

  • I used to do something like that in High School. I sucked trying to get my t shirt look like a real Nascar shirt. Also after I am done with that I have to iron it before I throw it in the washer. If I dont iron it then the picture has washed away after all the hard work.

  • dude this was awesome! this is exactly why you DON'T need to buy over priced shirts

  • this is exactly why people BUY tshirts

  • can please anyone tell me what can i use instead of the acrylic sealer because i cant find it anywhere here??and whats the name of the paint or ink??and can i use it on all fabrics??i need to know asap..Thank you

  • Go to Michael's.

  • What do you receomend using other then modge pog ( if I can find any in my area )??

    good video

  • Same as above, they've got it at Michael's. You could also try finding a Hobby Lobby or Joann's, but most craft stores should have it.

  • it's pretty much glue

  • this shit is WAY better than professional machines that cost up to $3,000 dollars.u can find these materials at the family dollar.saves a crap load of money.THIS is old skool.awesome!!

  • ghetto is cool

and the funny thing is i wanted to make a tshirt that said panda on it too!!!

    ...weird

  • kool

  • It's Magneto BITCHEZ.

  • wow. definately just tryed this method and it was terrible. the print came out all blotchy and smeared.

  • I like the idea of making a small screen from the fabric and an embroidery hoop and will probably attempt to do so at some point, but the rest of it seems like it's not really saving enough money over the products that are made for this sort of thing to be worth it to me.

  • It's worth it if you can't find a Soundgarden shirt anywhere xD. I'll probably be using this.

  • i've purchased some black nylon fabric, because there was nothing else. the pencil and sharpie does not show up,what should i use to have my traced design to show up?

  • thanks

  • What kind of ink do you use for that?

  • wow! that is a good cheep way to make a print! i really wish i knew about that way sooner! spent like 50 bucks on a stupid speedball print kit!

  • you and me both man

  • I SPENT 200

  • Mod Podge...is this like PVA glue in the UK?!

  • It's the rubbery type stuff that old ladies use to preserve jigsaw puzzles forever or decoupage magazine cut outs to the sides of empty cans...I think any kind of rubbery permanent glue works. My friend used rubber cement and that worked fine too.

  • Uber late reply but thank you, think I'll try that myself :)

  • HA! Poor old ladies :P

  • Might as well have taken the original stencil and just used spray paint. This is the silliest method of silk screening ever invented.

  • this is not how you do it

  • ghetto at its finest!

    great vid <3

  • Does the paint washout since you didn't mix it with acrylic textile medium?

  • thats why he has acrylic sealant

  • bahahaha this is super duper ghetto screen printing at its finest!

  • does wall mart sell the mod podge glue and the clear acrylic sealer? and could you use regular white glue instead of mod podge glue?

  • Don't know, but Michael's Art Supply stores sell it for $7 bucks a bottle! Ouch. The embroydery hoops are only about $1.25 though, and I recommend using a fine tip sharpie so you only have to trace pattern once.

  • This is not as hard as what I did, but it's harder than MOST of those 'easy' ways!

  • nice.... thanks for the vids

  • hey, i was wondering, since I am situated in the uk, what glue would I use besides mod podge, seeing as I don;t think it's available here.....

  • GHETTO!!!!!!!!!!

  • If your really don't want to spend the money and probably get a crappy result then go with this. Otherwise go out and at least buy a proper screen and squeegee.

  • That projector with the C on it is by Code, a writer from west london. How did you manage to get that pic?

  • can you still like do this process, without doing the acrylic sealer? because i have everything, BUT that!

  • you can, but it won't be able to be washed, the paint or ink will come off and ruin the shirt.

  • does the acrylic sealer make the shirt a different texture (like hardened)? and do you know where i can buy this sealer?

  • no clue man, I've never actually done it myself, I just know a bit about it

  • wow that is shitty.

  • Can you get all that at Micheals?

  • would expect so

  • great video! i was looking for a simple way to do screen printing.

  • thanks buddy! lots of help.

  • this is the most ghetto screen printing iv ever seen!

  • Nice info but the designed you made was ugly.

  • where do u get the embroidery hoop and the mod podge??

  • i bought mine at walmart...in the hobby section

or maybe your mom has some embroidery hoops...the mod podge is sold at select walkmart stoores for like 5.45

  • thx. btw what kind of ink do i have to get? and also what happens if i dont put the spray on my printed screen?

  • I know Michael's Art Supply store has them, its a chain store.

  • wellactually i tried this..maybe the nylon i bought had holes too big?

but it wasnt working for me

  • were can u buy the supplies

  • omfg, thank you, thanks you oh so very much, i just spent about an hour looking for instructions on silkscreening, all i found were people trying to sell me kits and such, or people who already had their silkscreens pre-done and didn't show me how to make them, you da man, and that picture of magneto was pretty freakin sweet

  • thanks!!!! thats really helpful, Im trying to do some pop art...so..yea, thanks!

  • thank you.

im so using this info to make my own tees. =)

  • awesome!

  • lol, i liked how u kept things interesting during silent parts

  • thank you for posting this up :]

now i know how to make patches an easy cheap way.

  • nice tutorial.

  • is the acrylic thing absolutely necessary and will it get on the rest of the shirt and make it weirdly textured?

  • damnnnn i just wasted 4 minutes of my life.

  • i do thatanyway..you helped me in now way a all ¬¬

  • That is funny, sorry guys but maybe a craft for kids but not to do real shirts.

  • much easier ways to do this

  • faeopfkaeopkf i dont know

  • Why did I watch this? ._.

  • ROFL! magneto! hahaha! thats so lame why not buy that iron on stuff you can print on it actually works if you do it right lol! made my day this is so funny!

  • Thanx for the tutorial. I heard if theres a Hobby Lobby near you, you could bu the glue there.

  • cud u not put de stencil on de shirt an jus spray it lol:S haha

  • ZOMG! i ruined my favourite t-shirt. lol

  • omg, I can't imagine the real result, it might suck

  • a better an easyier way is the work with an normal stencil - like the street Artists used it - and a ordinary role.

  • where do i get that crazy glue?

  • most craft stores carry mod podge

  • this is pretty awesome!

  • where is the next one... i wanna learn moree!! moreee!! more!!!!

  • not to be a jerk, but you can get a professional screen for like 10 bucks. Spend your time mastering the printing process.

  • where can i get one?

  • Nice tutorial!!!!

    ;)

  • i love you.

  • Thanks for this. Im gonna be waiting on the other video. :)

  • this is a great tutorial! very DIY... i think i'm going to be screen printing before i thought! thank you thank you!
