@yammyUFC4life even if the rot was 130 pounds it wouldn't make a difference, dogs are all slow, and have poor stamina, no jumping ability, and lets not even get into the bite force of dog vs wild cat.. bobs have razor sharp claws, what do rotts have? nothing just regular nails. second of all a bob would be too quick for a rott. tbh its not even fair to compare a dog with a bob. i have seen vids of cats shredding and killing alligators, yes alligators with rock hard skin, yet u think a rott win?

I love to have a bobcat. You can have one because you have a large yard and those cats need plenty of room. You're lucky.

Regarding the bobcat and running away, I would imagine as 4omzig said, bonding time is important. Obviously, if you get one as a kitten, it will probably bond to you if you treat it well and feed it. Cats will always come back if fed.

I am curious about how you keep your bobcat from running away. My bobcat will come for his toy but I don't think I can trust him to go outside and not run off. He had 2 previous owners that didn't treat him right and they had him declawed :( If there was a way to let him run around outside without a harness then I would love to teach him.

you're just going to have to take a lot of time with him if his previous owners mistreated him. I've had to do the same with a few of my previously owned pets. try the dog bonding rule: a minimum of one hour of bonding time a day with your bobcat.

My family owned and operated an animal hospital up until about a year ago... people would bring in injured animals that were to young to survive and I would nurse em back to health and some of em chose to hang around the ranch house or at least occasionally come back to visit me...

Big cats such as bobcats, jaguars, tigers, and lions can easly take down a dog if there fully grown cause once they have reached maturity they have incrediable jaw strength but sertain dogs can take down some species of big cat. :3
